Love the video I am in San Antonio and looking for a place to start shooting rimfire PRS/ NRL. Where are you shooting at? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks. Cliff
Thank you for watching, I am currently in the DFW area. But here's a website with all the PRS RIMFIRE matches in the area (including yours) www.precisionrifleseries.com/profiles/rimfire/CE
@@texas22jack89 I am experienced in IDPA and three gun. However I am older now and want to start pRS rimfire . Any thoughts on which matches in Texas would be a good place to start? Thanks
@@weaponofchoice8942 you could check out TX Precision Matches in Navasota TX. Here's a list of the matches in Texas and Oklahoma area. www.precisionrifleseries.com/profiles/rimfire/CE
It's a good place to start but they have specific testing parameters, and the barrel that they used to test the ammo will most likely be different than yours. I've found that the ammo data has been different from my actual data for my own barrel. If you don't have a kestrel I would recommend downloading the Geoballistics app; they have a free version and it's actually pretty good and close to the Kestrel data.
Thx for the great vid! Do you always use your chrono MV and true the BC? Ive tried this before and also tried truing MV at the same time but Dope doesnt always line up at various distances. What would you do if thats the case?
@@texas22jack89I am using Strelok and G1 BC and the truing function in the app. I normally confirm dope at 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200. Then True the BC to 200yds but the dope is 0.2mils low at 170yards and 0.1mil high at 100yards
@@texas22jack89 I am using G1 BC and Strelok truing function. I fired 10 shot group at 200yards and trued BC. When I confirm it at 170yds, my dope was 0.2mil high and at 100yd it was 0.2 low. I tried playing around with MV as well but couldn't get exact POI at 125, 150, 175. I am using SK Rifle Match with BC varying from 0.132 to 0.16 and 1067fps
@@sgweric That is very interesting, I've never used strelok but it sounds like a solution is to make a separate profile for 0 to 200 and then another one for 200+.
@@texas22jack89thanks I will try that. I think my issue is ammo related. Even though I am getting single digit SD and sub 30 ES, I guess SK Rifle Match not really made for 100yard+
Thanks for the great video. Im getting into nrl22 local matches. Can i true my bc at 100 yds and using the phone ARKEN optics ballistic app and have accurate data?
I've never used the arken optics ballistic app but a good rule of thumb is to true muzzle velocity 150 or under and then true bc 200 and over; not the other way around
@texas22jack89 thanks for the advice any ballistic app you recommend? I've got a 200 yd local range I can shoot at and spend some time truing things up
@@paulklescht1029 the ones I trust the most are applied ballistics and geoballistics. But if you're going to go in the deep end of this hobby then I would eventually get a kestrel elite 5700 which will have the applied ballistics program integrated into it.
Specifically checking distance / zeroing from the turrets is the best practice if I'm not mistaken
👍👍👍🤝

Is the ammo data on the manufacturers website good enough if I do not have the equipment to do what you did?

Yes, I usually use the chrono MV and true the BC beyond 200 yards. Which profile do you use? CDM, G1 or G7?
