Why chain hoist are not advised to use in horizontal lifting operations?.
What is the actual reason behind it?

@anandhubaiju6453 thanks for this great question!
While chain hoists can be incredibly useful tools, they are generally not recommended for horizontal lifting operations. There are several key reasons for this:
      • Design Limitations: Chain hoists are primarily designed for vertical lifting. Their internal components, such as the chain guide, are optimized for supporting a load directly below the hook. During horizontal movement, the chain can bind or misalign within the hoist, leading to inefficiency, potential damage, and even lift failure.
      • Load Sway and Instability: When a load is lifted horizontally with a chain hoist, it's prone to swaying and instability. This can be dangerous for personnel and equipment in the vicinity. The hoist's structure and braking system may not be designed to handle the additional lateral stress of a swinging load.
      • Safety Regulations: Many safety regulations and industry best practices discourage using chain hoists for horizontal lifting. There's a higher risk of equipment malfunction and potential injury when used outside their intended purpose.
For horizontal lifts/pulling situations we would recommend using a winch. Check out OZ's winch selection at ozliftingproducts.com/products/electric-winch/.
