I like how he asked him out. No subtle hints, just said he had feelings and then asked him out. No big coming of age thing... I loved that about this short film.
@jf -- I have to believe that the dark hair kid (Kai) knew or had a hint that the depressed kid (Oliver) was gay or bi in order to be that bold. Not because it would be dangerous for a guy to ask another guy out (although that certainly could be the case), but because otherwise it could be a complete waste of time. Since 90-95% of males are not gay, asking out random guys would be pointless without having some idea who is gay. (at least 19 out of 20 would turn you down.) But once you knew or strongly suspected a guy was gay, why not just be bold and suggest a date? ☺

Esteros is a great movie, Gods own Country and Akron and of course Shelter - have great hopes for FreeFall 2, now in production. Enjoyed 2018 Boys, Weekend and Mario - but these need sequels as well... do they find each other again...
@Ron, gay films are sad because we are not accepted and only have pockets of tolerance here and there, but look at it this way, we are coming full circle to the days when it was considered "normal" to love both boys and girls. Ancient Rome and ancient Greece were bisexual societies for at least 800 years. Straight people were the odd ones. Today you can get publicly executed for being gay in Africa and the Middle East, but incrementally we are gaining rights and changing minds so that hopefully we reach a stage like the ancients, either to be fully tolerated or fully accepted. PS. Hey guys, if you have a favorite film, name it so I can look it up. I just finished "Strapped (film entier 2011)", & "xem phim Pit Stop (2013) viet sub", and the 12 clips from "Priest 1994".
When I am down I always turn to this film, and somehow it always lifts me up, the fact that never once was any labels put on a simply beautiful, caring young man and just the actions alone show a deep loving intent. Just simply beautiful! Thank You, IytranDP for sharing this film. Peace.
Its like almost every short film i've ever seen, just left me with a lot of questions, wanting answers to those questions and wanting it to be a full story with a satisfactory ending and or conclusion.
I adore the boy with the dark hair's passion and nerve to ask that tall guy out and telling him that he simply has feelings for him must've taken so much courage and he even insisted! both seems like a nice pair
Moral: "Love makes all things new again." Thank you for this sweet film. Upon my 3rd viewing 😹I found myself thinking how badly Oliver needed someone to just hold him and let him know he's not alone. His mother was so deep in her own rejection that she forgot she needed to be there for her son. He, instead, was looking after her. We are left assuming these boys spent the night together yet, except for Oliver leading Kai by the hand to his bedroom, never once did they touch in a way that would lead him (or us) to believe his life was about to get better. I would like to have seen Kai lightly caress Oliver's face as he said, "OK, guess I'll see you later then." That's all that was needed. Nevertheless, my original comment and thanks still apply.
The credits do not cite who wrote this film, so I am going to give the credit to Ly Tran. A wonderful film in concept and execution! I just love and appreciate (add any other positive words here) how the characters just took each other at face value without judgement. I would consider my life a success if I could at least once be the kind of positive influence in another man's life that I saw portrayed here. I realize that the film is scripted (thus the acknowledgement to Ly Tran) but the courage to reach out without despair when rejected and the courage to accept that someone else might truly care is truly magnificent.
I like the scenes at the start of the film, showing sadness and the emptiness of the house. And i just love that the caring classmate brought him some homework, that is very caring. Sweet how he asked him out! And the day out certainly helped Arthur 'cos he felt he could open himself up to his mate... These dudes will be together. Top film!

Goes to show how someone asking the other if they are OK and showing an interest can be a life changer for someone lost in depression, at least a little window of hope.
Robert Charles depiction of raw grief is astonishingly good. Low key, masterful understatement that magnifies the immensity of loss and shock. The subtle depiction of hope at the end is so joyful. Very fine performanceS. A real gem of a short film.
It’s difficult for me to imagine any more competent acting in their age cohort. They are truly excellent in their craft; and I will watch anything in which they are featured, going forward.

@@ethansears4458 , for me, it says a lot because just showing support while I was growing up was in question. The simple execution of just asking to go out is big for me. I'm 50. Grew up in 80's. I thought the actors did a really good job.
Wow, the absolute steel that guy must be made of to make the first move like that. So straightforward and honest. I couldn't even say the word gay as a teenager because I was so scared 😂
I like how simple yet unconventional this is. The focus isn't so much on them being gay and there's none of the usual panic/questioning/etc. They were just straightforward with where they're coming, what's going on in their lives. I'm a sucker for stories where sexuality isn't the 'issue'.
So simple and so intense! The sincerity of words are sometimes the ones that have the most meaning! I enjoyed reviewing this film clear objective and concise in history!
The light-haired guy's acting is so much better than the dark-haired boy... the contrast is almost too huge to ignore lol. But I can tell the dark-haired boy is trying his best... just has room for improvement :)
I Love how it shows that the mother has the same way of dealing with what happened exactly how her son does, showing that they may be different but are still the same, we might have only seen her in like one clip but it says so much (or maybe I'm just looking way to deep into it)
I like this guy and I told him and he said I was weird for liking him and boys ever since I have been really sad but this helped feel better for who I am. 😊
I wish I had made a list of all these short films I have watched. ...it would have saved an awful lot of time starting one, then realising I'd already seen it!
i like this film, although i do have to say, the initial "i like you" scene was rather too easy, a shade unrealistic -- however, it did "cut to the chase", so to speak, so i can see why they did it that way. i mean, that guy with the dark hair, must have the most amazing gaydar EVER....AND some major cojones. it just doesn't happen that way in real life. but other than that, i think the film played really well.
+Lee Victoria: i know they're not, but for him to just flat-out say "i have feelings for you" to what amounts to a virtual stranger (even though their moms talk and the boys are in the same classes they don't seem to know much about each other at all.), is just dangerous. unless he has the most amazingly accurate gaydar in history, he was being very foolish with his physical safety and/or reputation/life at school. the potential for it all to go wrong was hovering over him at the door. and the average high schooler (gay or straight) is usually rather more insecure about life, themselves and their crushes. i know everyone is unique, but that initial "i like you" scene at the door just came across unrealistic to me..
@@jennieh.5605 Exactly. Glad to see some people can read between the lines and don't have to have everything explained to them. That is why I like foreign films; they don't explain it all, they make you think.

I like how simple yet unconventional this is. The focus isn't so much on them being gay and there's none of the usual panic/questioning/etc. They were just straightforward with where they're coming, what's going on in their lives. I'm a sucker for stories where sexuality isn't the 'issue'.
Me too
So simple and so intense!
Jesus Christ!!😮I could not that he layed it out just like that but it shows a lot of self-confidence 🙂🙂
I Love how it shows that the mother has the same way of dealing with what happened exactly how her son does, showing that they may be different but are still the same, we might have only seen her in like one clip but it says so much (or maybe I'm just looking way to deep into it)
This is so sweet
Hehehehe...I love how he said Mom I am going out!!!!I use to say that a lot.....
Short and pointed so really good 😊
11:30 ohmygod that’s a smile that can win a heart.
The filmography was astounding. I love it
That was sweet. Thank you!
Really cool story and imo beautiful shot and lit! Plus the boy with the dark hair is uber cute and I love how caring he is
Cai/Kai got some balls dude!!!! I’m so proud!!!!😍
a bit of kindness and concern for others goes a long way.
So when's the movie coming out?
Of the closet?
I would not go out with someone who gives me homework whilst I'm having time off school
Joshua Bennett : I'm with you.... Especially two days in a row too. I think a phone number would just do!!
Hahah right?
i would... it means they care. :3
I'd ask him to come "study" with me in my room.
Joshua Bennett ME
I like this guy and I told him and he said I was weird for liking him and boys ever since I have been really sad but this helped feel better for who I am. 😊
Damn ya after hearing this I'm def not telling my bff I like her, I'm a girl, she'll end me😭😭😭
I wish I had made a list of all these short films I have watched. ...it would have saved an awful lot of time starting one, then realising I'd already seen it!
But if it is that good, it is worth watching again - just like Rose Canyon.
i like this film, although i do have to say, the initial "i like you" scene was rather too easy, a shade unrealistic -- however, it did "cut to the chase", so to speak, so i can see why they did it that way. i mean, that guy with the dark hair, must have the most amazing gaydar EVER....AND some major cojones. it just doesn't happen that way in real life. but other than that, i think the film played really well.
I do believe there is a back story to them. So maybe they discussed stuff with each other.
Maybe they're already out at school, and that's why dark haired guy wasn't worried.
@@jennieh.5605 Exactly. Glad to see some people can read between the lines and don't have to have everything explained to them. That is why I like foreign films; they don't explain it all, they make you think.
Aww....I feel in love with that little boy's smile.😩❤️
I keep wondering where I know Kyle (or the school guy) from but then it hits me ... The Lorax.
Bravo! The atmosphere painted here is beyond the words... so happy to find this film on YT!
