You saved my holiday weekend, thank you. I do preventive maintenance, descale, change filters, etc. but this was exactly what I needed this morning. It took a few tries, to get a regular stream, but I have coffee in hand, while I write this. Now, I’m happy!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Had done all of the paper-clip poking and descaling and all that and was about to give up and buy a new one. Had to run about a gallon of water through while holding the vent, but it worked. You saved me the cost, and the frustration of being beaten by a small appliance.
Yahhh....you just saved me a trip to the store...I just got done looking at the keurig at walmart...and said let me youtube this problem....I did as you said ...I blew in the water intake and out came shit from the overflow....bingo you saved my husband's life......your a life saver...my husband and his coffee...thank you once again
Blocking the overflow outlet did the trick for me, I had tried the paper clip up the piercing nozzle trick with no change in symptoms, but as soon as I followed your colorfully worded steps and blocked the overflow pipe at the top of the water reservoir, she started pushing water through the K cups correctly. A tip of the hat to you sir, for posting this video!
I almost stopped watching this video thinking he was just showing the normal things I had already tried, read about and seen many times but never worked. I was about to take this machine out to the garbage can. I kept watching though and when suggested blocking the overflow, I had no faith that this would possibly work. I tried it and still can't believe that this did the trick. Thank you for the tip.
Well, just like many of the other comments. I had me a new machine picked out on Amazon, but decided to watch one last video before buying it. Your video has saved us all money. Thank you very much, sir.
Let me just say ..."You are my hero." I had been messing with the machine all day on and off trying to not let myself get overly frustrated. Hubby just went to bed after asking me to buy another machine. I came upon your video and now it is up and running! Thank you!!
Saved my morning! I spent nearly an hour messing with this thing then decided I'd watch a video and yours came up first and worked instantly! Thank you Soo much!!!
Thanks for this - all these years later! LOL I have the Classic and everything else I found to help was for the newer machines. Bless you for this. I had put mine in storage over a year ago because the pods are so expensive. I have one of those refillable pods now and pulled out the Keurig and.. it acted the straight fool! Your video saved me a lot of grief. Peace!
4 years later and still helped, thanks man. I’m not sure what exactly step fixed before I tried the tooth brush on the o rings and some tiny black came out, but then I tried covering the overflow and work like you showed. Thanks again! One happy caffeinated addict!
I tried this and it hadn't worked for me, granted mine wasn't even humming. But I wanted to let others know, I got mine to work by holding it upside down, water drained out from where you put the coffee things, and from the little thing on the side he covered up, but be careful because it was hot. After the water drained, I ran a cup and it actually worked. Thank you for your video! Hope this comment helps somebody.
Thank you, you just saved my quarantined life! XD For anyone else watching this, I tried just covering the little rubber overflow spout thingy but the second I let go it stopped working. I tried several times, and this was a workaround but not a fix. So I wondered if blowing into the intake was part of the solution. I did it, and yes some water came out of the overflow spout. Afterward I could see that water was sitting in the spout, essentially blocking it the same way that my finger would be. So after that I tried to brew, and it came out fine and normal. So I'm really grateful! Also, to those of you who said you saved them from buying a new machine... Keurigs have a lifetime warranty. You can literally bring it in to any store that sells them and they will give you a new one of comparable model for free. You do not need to register the machine, have a receipt for it, or return it to the same place where it was purchased. My first Keurig was a gift from an ex boyfriend and I didn't have any information on where it was purchased, no less a receipt. Someone told me the same, so I skeptically brought it to a Bed Bath and Beyond, and lo and behold it was true! They simply gave me a new machine, and I even got an upgrade because the comparable model was out of stock. I've had to exchange my Keurig twice so far, and had we not been on lockdown for COVID-19, I would have done it again today! But thank you very much @domjubgwefer for showing me how to get this old machine moving again. :)
I had the same problem. Would work when I plugged it but not when I let go. After blowing in the intake it works great! Thanks for both the initial fix and this follow up post! :)
Just tried this on the in laws coffee maker I bought them a year ago. Two month ago the Keurig stopped working so they quit the coffee maker and went back to warming the water on the stove and I tried this trick on it and it worked!!!!!! Thank you!!
As a guy who also understands fluid dynamics. I'm just grateful you did all the troubleshooting for me. The version I had, had an overflow opening that was much smaller. I never even noticed it. Thanks for the vid!
OMG, so happy I found this video. It actually worked! Tonight was the last try and if it didn't work, it was going in the trash. I have tried multiple times to fix it and nothing worked. So THANK YOU FOR SHARING!

Thanks, Dom. I used compressed air and it did the trick. My Keurig works like new again. Just so everyone knows, there are two lines that need to be cleared out. Put the compressed air tube in each "nostril" of the clear plastic overflow fitting and blow until water shoots out at the pod compartment.
I was just about to disassemble my Keurig when I found your video. I tried your steps and it worked perfectly. I had to repeat a couple of times though. Thank you for saving my Keurig since I probably would have destroyed it. Keurig should post this on their website.
Thank you so much for this repair video. I like others have been working on this for 2 hours and was about to go buy a new one; $130+. Saw this; tried it and my 9 year old Keurig is working great. Thank you! Thank you!

OMG - Thank you! Yours is the video that keeps on giving, it seems! Four years after your posting, I landed on it after googling for "whirring Keurig", and wow(!), your wonderfully technical and entertaining video! That little "thingie" was part of the problem. It helped me brew the cup that 'started' the problem, but I always had to hold the 'thingie'. So....I descaled the machine, letting the vinegar 'sit' overnight. After a cup or two of 'rinsing' runs this morning, it worked without thingie-holding! Yay! Wow - without your video, I'd sure have been out looking for another machine! You're the best! Thank you again!
Like you, I tried the other quick fixes for no hot water/coffee coming out. Your video pointed me in the right direction. With the water tank removed I took a turkey baster bulb and force air down the check valve. A very small chunk of crud came out. The rest of it was forced into the plumbing. The next time it clogs it will likely be the needle jets, but it work for now.

I actually took the tiny 2 screws from the top to remove the top to expose the water hoses. I saw that there were grinds. I squeezed it and it released the clog and run several cups of water . squeezed while water was going thru... just watch the screws...easy to drop. Works beautifully now.
Yes! I am going to try your way too. I’ve been fighting it this way and it works for awhile and starts doing it all over again and mostly in days I’m running late. Ain’t nobody got time for that!! Thank you 😊
Good going buddy, I tried about 5 or 6 different things, everything except literally taking the check valve apart and nothing worked until I came across your video, worked like a charm, thanks!

Worked like a charm! Husband blew through the drain and water squirted out. Simply genius. Was ready to buy my mom a new Keurig. So glad I found your video. Many thanks!
Cleaned my machine today, went to descale with vinegar and nothing would happen. After watching a couple fix videos that didn't work, I found yours and badda boom my machine is back in action! Thank you!
OMG this worked immediately. Thank you so much for taking your time to learn this and helping the rest of the world. You are out here doing God's work.
Hallelujah! I was within minutes of unplugging the unit and throwing it in the recycle bin.. But thought why not I learn a lot of things on TH-cam, There must be a simple fix, so this is where I caught your video.. My Keurig had been unused for a number of years. I re-discovered it in storage and filled it with water and turned it on. It made sounds, but no water flow. I noticed that hot water was being pumped out of that spout on top of the reservoir and flowing into it.. I watched your video. I blocked the spout that flows into the reservoir, pressed one of the brew buttons, and water started filling my cup like it was supposed to. It might be that it needed to be primed.. thank you so much for your video.
Okay, so I want to add to this remedy. It didn't really work for me, but with the concept in mind. I tried something that I think did help. See if you can follow me without the aid of a video. When I put the water reservoir in place, I saw a little water bubble up from the bottom. Water still wouldn't flow to the cup. So I kept sort of lifting the reservoir up enough to cause the bubbles again and again. It seemed to loosen something up. Soon the water began to trickle; this is when I employed the remedy suggested in this video. Success!
First, we were able to fix our problem because of this video. I watched several videos - using a paper clip, using vinegar, blowing on the filter... Nothing worked. This video fixed the problem. The comical relief made it even better. Thanks for posting this.
Great solution so many fixes say the same thing check the bottom check the top piercer to see if it is clogged. Plus it does not involve anything more than your finger! The First thing I would try.
I have my Keurig at work in my office. This exact thing happened this morning. And guess what! Your tip did the trick. Am drinking another hot beverage and all thanks to you I didn't have to spend another gob of money and wait 10-14 days for a replacement.
You my friend are a freakin' genius. Did the descale routine, disassembled the filters, everything check good. I was on the verge of replacing the pump until I tried your tip. K40 works like it should again. Happy wife = happy life. Thank you for sharing this awesome fix. Keurig will prolly try to have you banned from YT. LOL
Oh my goodness. I have had my Keurig since 2013. I have coddled it with brand name bottled water, routinely cleansed with vinegar, used only Gevalia pods. However, output diminished & coffee is bitter. I did not realize that plastic doo hickey was a vent, thought it held cover. I just did your technique & seems to work, as now much stronger. Will try with coffee pod in AM. I have new Keurig Slim coming, as has no holding tank & I wonder what lives in my interior holding tank? Remember the percolator = no fuss. Jeanne
My wife wanted to toss her reasonably new Keurig out. It was doing exactly what yours was doing. For whatever reason, after the second attempt, it worked for me this afternoon, even before I watched your video. I suspected that something was gummed up internally. I will try your method tomorrow morning. MANY THANKS for sharing this, its a great troubleshooting video!
Thought mine was ready for the trash heap! Worked for my morning joe then in the afternoon I got a hum but no brew. Decided to look at TH-cam as I have discovered there is a TH-cam for everything. Yours came up first and thanks to your under 4 minute fix I was joyfully enjoying an afternoon cuppa within minutes. Thank you!!
I tried this a couple of times now and it works as long as I have my finger on the overflow, but as soon as I let go it doesn't. I've cycled a full tank of water as well as a full tank of water vinegar mix through and it still is giving me a hard time. Any suggestions?
Kerurig works fine and a long time, use purified water or distilled. If it gets slow or no operation blast air into the point or location where coffee is suspended that will open up the dispenser nozzle. Enjoy the coffee. HH
Vandenn Krouch - thank you. Along with the above video and your advice of uplugging and repluggin my machine, I now have a working machine again!! Thank you so much!
This fix didn't work for me. I also tried what I saw on another video, cleaning off the spring at the bottom of the tank. I've tried everything to no avail. I think I may just need to buy another one. I may try the Keurig help line but I am not hopeful that they will be of much assistance.
After trying a bunch of methods this is what worked for me!! In my case, the Keurig wasn’t just brewing less coffee, nothing would come out. The internal water heater reservoir would fill up and I still heard the pump working during the brew cycle but nothing came out. As soon as I plugged that vent, out came hot water with a bunch of coffee grounds. Man thanks again for sharing!
Chris did it work for you? If it didn’t. Go ahead and blow air into the little rubber vent hole. Take off the filter inside the water chamber with the three little screws first. Go ahead and wash it. If you have a compress can of air. Go ahead and use that. If not use a straw to blow through it. I believe there is two holes in the vent go ahead and do both sides make sure you put a cup in the dispenser area. That will help clear out any junk inside.
I was ready to go buy a new Keurig but your video did the trick. Thank you so much for your extremely helpful information on how to get the water flowing again. Never knew that overflow spigot was even there. Many thanks again. ☺
I'm just so upset because I've looked through all the comments and I think my Keurig is being a little more stubborn than everyone else's because this didn't fix it for me. I just keep burning my finger :(
@@user-xv1cs9mm9dMy keurig didn’t have any luck here either. I found that the needle at the bottom wasn’t puncturing the bottom of the cup, but when I did it myself with a knife, it worked. See if that’s the problem.
This is a fantastic post. I appreciate the troubleshooting that domjubgwefer provided. I still had an issue with the pump not working. At 1:50 of the video the recommendation was to blow water into the intake hole. I was unable to reach it so my son and I used a bicycle tire pump with a strip of saran wrap as a gasket. We pumped a number of times and blew out some crud. I really took a lot of force to clear it out but now it is working perfectly. I hope this comment is helpful and am very grateful for the time domjughwefer took to direct me to the right troubleshooting area!
Okay..... first off it's not "skookum" you're removing....it's "schmoo" you're removing....it didn't "chootch" because it was clogged with "schmoo"...but thanks to your tip...(just the tip and only for a minute) the Keurig now "chooches" again and that is skookum....as frig.
oneloveinus YOU, (myfriend) WIN the comment section for this video. I realized my error almost immediately after saying it, but I shot the entire video in a single take, and I figured not many people would "get" the somewhat obscure reference anyway, so I left it in. but.. regardless of the error, I've been waitin' since Christ was a COWBOY for someone to notice the references in this video to my favorite TH-camr (and personal "shop-hero") AvE! AvE (aka ArduinoVersesEvil) is.. a welder, mechanic, machinist, fabricator, electrician, mathematician, innovator, artist, designer, tester, breaker, thinker, maker, etc etc.. And besides that, what makes him a good TH-camr, is he is ALSO a genius, and great teacher, who's funny, entertaining, and exciting to watch/learn from. One of my favorite attributes of Ave, by far, is his nutty, yet brilliant sense of humor, and his common-sense approach to every topic he raises in his videos. If anyone here likes "shop-talk" about everything from design, engineering & science, to building & fabrication, to tools, computers, or (my favorite), simply just showing people how commonly over-looked items around them, actually "tick" inside, and what makes them "chooch" or if they work REALLY well.. what makes them a "skookum-choocher"! Anyway.. thanks for the comment! And everyone else, go check out AvE's channel here: m.th-cam.com/users/arduinoversusevil

First of all. You’re hilarious. Secondly, thank you! This fixed my problem!
Hallelujah! I was within minutes of unplugging the unit and throwing it in the recycle bin..
But thought why not I learn a lot of things on TH-cam,
There must be a simple fix, so this is where I caught your video..
It might be that it needed to be primed..
thank you so much for your video.
thank you so much i have done all other de scaling in the past but this time nothing, this did the trick. and now life can go on lol
I tried it and to my amazement (astonishment) it worked. I am now enjoying my coffee as I type this. Thank you for saving me the cost of a new Keurig.
The First thing I would try.
domjubgwefer good rant. hope you feel better now!
LOL
Watched the video, had the exact symptoms, went to my machine, followed your instructions, worked like a charm! Absolute genius!
Watched several of the videos. Your info about the air seems to have done the trick. Thanks!
My brother brought a Keurig home from the office with the very same problem. This was exactly the fix. Thanks!
Jeanne
Another satisfied viewer. When I did this the machine made the most satisfying "pop" and then the water started flowing. Thanks!
Thanks my friend! I tried your solution and it WORKED!!!
"Chinese POS coffee maker" hahahaha! Thanks for the laugh and great tips.
Actually it's built like a tank, it's the gunk in our water that is the problem
LOL yes that made me laugh
ascegan mine’s been going strong for like ten years, I think it is the original model
Yes that’s so true China makes everything!!😂😂😂
Thank you so much...it worked...I really appreciate people like you who make videos that help out...without having us pay for it.
THANK YOU!!!!!! I was about to pull my damn hair out. I thought, "just ONE more video".
Just did what you said and kudos to you.........mine is working now!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Even after 4 years yours video is helping people!!!!
Totally worked🙂 I had to unplug and replug mine to trigger suction action.
Went to my friends. Hers was not working for awhile. Watched your video and it was fixed in under 10 min!!! She said thank you!!!!
This fix didn't work for me. I also tried what I saw on another video, cleaning off the spring at the bottom of the tank. I've tried everything to no avail. I think I may just need to buy another one. I may try the Keurig help line but I am not hopeful that they will be of much assistance.
All the likes! All the comments! All the algorithm generators!
You made me look like a genius in front of my boss!!
Awesome!!!! Works like a charm. Pretty smart to figure that one out !!!Five stars !!
6 years later and you're still a life saver. THANK YOU!
Didn't know Ricky from trailer park boys did keurig tutorial videos
Daniel Thrasher lol thats what I was thinking bubs lol
He sounds just like him
@@jessajessabell6404 I was thinking the same thing! haha
😂
After trying a bunch of methods this is what worked for me!! In my case, the Keurig wasn’t just brewing less coffee, nothing would come out. The internal water heater reservoir would fill up and I still heard the pump working during the brew cycle but nothing came out. As soon as I plugged that vent, out came hot water with a bunch of coffee grounds. Man thanks again for sharing!
Thanks bud. Worked for me.
Dude!!! My wife watch your video and would like to say THANK YOU! and so do I! You are a rockstar!
What the reason for this? How do you do the repair, does anyone have any idea so you dont have to squeeze things to get it to work
Chris did it work for you? If it didn’t. Go ahead and blow air into the little rubber vent hole. Take off the filter inside the water chamber with the three little screws first. Go ahead and wash it. If you have a compress can of air. Go ahead and use that. If not use a straw to blow through it. I believe there is two holes in the vent go ahead and do both sides make sure you put a cup in the dispenser area. That will help clear out any junk inside.
You are the greatest of all time 🐐!!! I was just about to throw mine away. I bless you, your family and your future lineage. A million 🙏
So was I lol. Thank god for this guy
It is a mystery to me why Keurig machines are so popular. They are costly, and seem to be prone to numerous problems.
EPA18 totally agree too expensive reg coffee pot is the best
Because it brews a cup at a time? Making a whole pot always went to waste with only my husband and I waking a different times in the morning.
Kim Cobb-Adams yes what you said! I'm the only one who drinks the coffee. It's easy, fast and convenient.
It tastes 100% better than burnt regular brewed coffee.
Seriously Keurig is like the Mercedes of coffee machines. Expensive and always break.
For reasons obvious, you sir, are my goddarn superhero.
Internet is more awesome because of people like you.
Im laughing and my machine works again 💪🏼 thanks!
I just keep burning my finger :(
Same issue here did you ever fix it?
And everyone else, go check out AvE's channel here:

Thanks for this comment. I was looking for someone who noticed and was surprised how far down in the comments it was.
Thank you so much for this video. I purchased my Keurig for $5 at a garage sale about 4 years ago. Now, my investment is even better!
Thank you! The vent trick should be made known. I tried all the other “solutions” and the vent suction worked instantly.
The overflow outlet did the trick for me too! Thank you so much because I thought I broke my work Keurig and was freaking out. THANK YOU!
