Thank you for sharing this feedback with us! Having a tailgate assist on your trailer is a game changer! It makes lifting the gate at the end of a hard day, effortless! www.etrailer.com/Tailgate/Buyers-Products/3375201000.html
We mounted the eye bolt on the gate by pulling slightly on the chain up words and making a mark at the top of the hook at the end of the hook. This will allow the spring to have slight tension when the gate is closed. www.etrailer.com/Tailgate/Buyers-Products/3375201000.html
how does it not SLAM forward ? I understand lowering it but when picking up/ raising the gate, how is the spring not pulling all that weight back into the trailer? I'm picturing it pulling it right out of your hands.
The spring tension lessens when you begin closing the gate. It closes very gently if installed correctly. www.etrailer.com/Tailgate/Buyers-Products/3375201000.html

The height will depend on where the hook at the end of the chain hits your trailer gate when the spring tube is installed. www.etrailer.com/Tailgate/Buyers-Products/3375201000.html
I got mine a month ago and finally got it installed. I had one long tube and it was chrome (wish it was black) works great!!!

Did you say where you mount the eye bolt on the gate at. How high up on the gate.
We mounted the eye bolt on the gate by pulling slightly on the chain up words and making a mark at the top of the hook at the end of the hook. This will allow the spring to have slight tension when the gate is closed.

would this work on a trailer with a side rail height of 9 inches?
This kit is designed to fit trailers with a side rail height of 12" to 18".

my trailer is round metal tubing. can we still install it ?
Yes, you will want to be sure to use a bolt that will go all the way through the tube.

Very well made trailer thank you.
You didn’t mention the height on the ramp hole you drilled
The height will depend on where the hook at the end of the chain hits your trailer gate when the spring tube is installed.
