This is a very helpful video. It made it non-intimidating to follow the instructions that gorilla provided which were terrible. Gorilla should be paying you because I bought these because of your video.
I want to thank you so much. Your direction saved me an enormous amount of time trying to read the directions. Your video explained everything perfectly! Hats off to you and your company
Great video. Thanks much. My wife bought a set of these for me back in 2014. I looked at the printed instructions with no pictures, figured it was just too time consuming to mess with. Bought a new trailer and decided to see if TH-cam had better instructions than the printed ones. Easy pezy to follow your lead, put them on in about 45 minutes. Thanks a ton.
Good video. Thank you. I had no instructions with mine. I installed it on my 20x8 dual axle. You are correct in the fact that one is strong enough for a four foot gate. However, in your comments on the video you thought a 3/8 hole would work for mounting. A 3/8 hole will not let the carriage bolt seat completely, thus letting the spring catch on the bolt lip. I went ahead and disassembled everything and drilled the holes to 1/2 inch. The spring stopped scrubbing the carriage bolt head. But, again, thank you.
Easy peasy! Once you've figured it out. And . . . . one of the better designs and installations for us Do-It-Yourselfers. And you've made it for half the price - BABY! Thanks for putting this up!
I got this lift about 3 years ago for my lawn trailer and love it.Keep extra black rollers handy and cable too cause they wear out,I replace mine once a year.
Thanks much for this video, just bought mine one day ago pulled ‘instructions’ and figured I’d be on this for about two or three days. Your vid was the first one I pulled up and now I’m figuring with gathering the tools taking off the hooks and rope ties I have installed I’ll be about half a day, after all I do need time off for a cold one right, oh not beer but a ginger ale or iced tea. also as a foot note if I only put one on, this thing cost me $200.00 plus tax so I’ll sell the other one and re our half my money. And thanks again Just came up with my first problem! If you monitor this video on a regular basis in yours as will as gorilla’s instructions it says 1/4 inch from edge of railing. I have a 6x12 flatbed at 1/4 “ the back piece will be bolted down in the wheel well and yes I will cut the bolt down but even so my wife and I most of the 5pm put a full+ load on. Also I have an eye bolt on both side that we have used on a semi regular basis. So with this what problems would I run into if I set the gate lift about 7.5” back from the edge any help please
just about to start this project and honestly I don't think I would have had any confidence in doing it until I watch this video. thanks bro I'll let you know how it comes out.
Southern Style Lawn Care The install went great! quick and easy thanks to your video, One thing,, we installed this on our 16ft big text trailer with tubular side rails which we had to go get longer hardware to get all the way through the tube. the original hardware wasn't long enough. other than that quick and easy. Love your channel and big shout out from Hebron Connecticut!!
So I installed my gorilla lift gate today and I found it better to install both so that your gate goes up evenly to avoid excess wear on one side definitely a great upgradeWorth every penny
Great video! I have been looking at these and you just convinced me. I'm so sick of that gate. Now figure out a way to pick it up without leaning down to get it! Thanks again.
The square tube/fabricated gates are stupid heavy. Would probably require 2 of these springs. Thanks for the video! I have the same trailer and have been thinking about getting this. From what I can tell, my used trailer already has the holes drilled for this!
just about to start this project and honestly I don't think I would have had any confidence in doing it until I watched this video. Just like the dude below me said. I also have the trinity rack from west Texas and its great. So no problem hanging your stick edger down there on the lowest rung? I Could put the lift on the other side if need be.
that is so awesome right there i am buying this for a fact..i have bad back so i just bought new 15ft trailor the gate is heavier than my 8 foot trailor was so i will buy this.see if one my friends just wants to go in half get this want be but 80 bucks a piece for this back savior wow
Great video. I used it to put mine on today. Once I completed the installation, I noticed it was hard to put the gate down because the springs were trying to keep it shut. Once I forced the gate down to the ground, I had to stand on it to keep it down. Otherwise it would close up by itself. I couldn’t find any suitable location to keep this problem from happening. They seem to be too strong. Does anyone have any ideas? Moving the location on the gate doesn’t really seem to make a difference.
I have not installed one of these, but I think there are 2 springs on each side - one smaller one inside a larger one, and I think you can disconnect the smaller one from the front pin, so that you are only using one spring per side, instead of two.
Florida Turf Pros I absolutely hate these lifts. They look tacky and take up way too much space. You're much better off to put springs down on the hinge to get the spring assist
I have a 5x8 trailer with a one piece metal rear gate. I goes in vertically sliding in a track on both sides. I do not need a ramp and the gate is heavy. Any suggestions for a modification or upgrade?
NOTE: You MUST use a 1/2" bit to drill the holes for the side rails. 3/8" bit drill holes are not sufficient to allow the square end of the bolt(s) to be completely recessed.
The trailer I want to put this on has the gate latches on top of the rails. The tubes would need to be mounted about 4 inches from the gate. Will that work or will I need to move latches?
Same problem. Started to install 3 3/8 inches back and realized the cables would rub the latch when the gate is fully down. I mounted over the welded tab for the gate latches 1/4 inch back like the instructions said.
@@SouthernStyleLawnCare that's great to hear! I just picked up my unit from tractor supply.I've read nothing but good reviews on this product and hoping it will be better than the EZ gate lift assist that I had. My only concern with the gorilla lift is where some of the reviews are saying that the cable and rollers wear out and have to be replaced. Has this been an issue with you? Thanks for your feedback.
I thought they go on both sides of trailer? For $170 should be 2 sets, im thinkin anywayz..springs are like $30 for 2 at home depot, can make it cheaper i would think
@@SouthernStyleLawnCare awesome. I ordered one and was thinking about just installing one side too. Then keeping the other one as a backup or if I get a second trailer.
