These villages in the city aren't slum. instead, they are the epitome of the rapid urban expansion. currenly in China, the urbanlizaion is 67%, the city will become big and big. GOV has to take the lands back, however the lands of village beongs to the farmers. if GOV want to take these lands back to build the skyscraper, GOV need pay compensation to the farmers. the cost is pretty high. for some reasons, you may know there is so called "nail-household", they refused any negotiation with GOV or they clamed the very hgih unreasonable compensation. so the GOV has to change the plan and leave the village there. keep in mind, the original farmers are very rich, even the movie star want to marry with these farmers, even their house won't be torn down, however they can rent their spare house to the new comers. the new comers come from other rural area or just graduated students, they try to seek the 1st job in the city. they don't have much money to rent an fashion apartment. they just rent the farmer's house as a temporary accommodation. once they foud a job with good salary, they will move out. so these viliages can't be called slum.
