    Heh... the original front had the holes for the flap in it, and the back with the pocket had no holes for the flap... Nice bit of editing! ;o) It's a nice design, and I like the use of 2 sub-gussets it gives the bag a very unique look, rather than using either of the usual 2 gusset methods... Thanks for the vid... :o)

    Would it be possible to use stitching irons instead of a hole punch? Just for the parts that require sewing.

    incredible. hope to match the talent some day. never would have thought to use thin strips to join the pieces together., makes the look smooth.
    Is that standard thread, because it looks completely different from mine, mine feels so cheap and thin, i like the almost thick thread.

    Hi...I found this very inspiring, and made a bag with the same design as the gusset-strips you used (i.e. from around 8:59 in the video) . I'm about to start sewing, but I can't figure out how you managed to go around the bends with the strip/gusset combo...the leather doesn't seem to bend. What am I doing wrong lol? Will it work better if I wet the leather? I'm using 5-7oz Oak Leaf Vegtan.

      this is why buying the pattern is better than trying to copy it. How can you not understand spending 10 usd can save you time and materials? you want to copy my design and my technique? sure go ahead and waste your time and materials trying to get there. Maybe

      As a rough guide for estimating the length of thread it's something like between 3x and 5x the length of the stitching length you are going to do... I generally use about 4 times the length and normally have enough left over to be able to stitch without being cramped by the free ends being too short to get the needle where it needs to be at the end of the stitching run...

    At 4:34 you state that you are using a 1.5mm wide hole punch but looking at how you start to put the bag together it looks like you have used a 4mm oval hole punch. Is the hole punching section of your video from another project ?

    • @DieselpunkRo

      for this particular bag i didnt use a punch. I do however recommend a 1.5 hole puncher to make it

    • @PINACI
      @PINACI 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm interested in purchasing some of your bag patterns but would like my bag to look like yours and in order for that to happen would need to also know your antiquing technique which you seem to not show or inform anyone how you achieve this look. From what I can tell you use a drill polishing disc with something on followed by beeswax. It's almost like you want to show people how good your bag looks but don't want anyone who purchases your patterns to be able to achieve the same quality.

    • @shmoopy4265
      @shmoopy4265 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is very generous of him to give us the patterns in the first place so don’t over look that fact. If he were to tell you how exactly he makes every single detail then it would be bad for selling the items he made, after all it is better to keep some parts of your craft a secret.

    • @PINACI
      @PINACI 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shmoopy4265 .... This antiquing effect can be achieved using leather shoe polish lightly applied using a cloth covered block and then sealed in with your preferred wax. If he was worried about other people selling his designs then he wouldn't sell the patterns in the first place and then show them off being made on TH-cam. The whole point of this video is to help sell his leather bag pattern so others can make their own bag. Another professional leather worker wouldn't bother with someone else's pattern for selling anyway, this is more likely for the hobbyist/novice and not commercial leather worker, and for his own bags that he sells, well they are simply for people who can't or don't want to make their own and would just prefer one made by a craftsman.
