Prayers for anyone affected by the storm. I grew up in Murphy. Where you were filming the Hiwassee river, there used to be a railroad trestle that went across. We would walk it back in the early 80's. My grandparents had a place out off of 64, and my other grandmother had a house on Depot Street just behind Dickey Supply Company. Mr. Dickey also had a bottling plant behind the hardware store back in the 60's that my dad worked at. We spent a lot of time at the Henn Theatre. Back then, Mr. Henn and his daughter Betsy ran it. I was friends with Betsy's son Rex. Out of all the places I have lived in 54 years, I miss Murphy most of all. Such a great place to grow up.
You may be right on that one...It will mainly be people from out of the mountains...I would guess most of the people who got flooded out, do not have flood insurance. So, they can not buy or build. And, We are already at a shortage for rentals. And they rent for very high prices...We will see
@@brucechynoweth I go up to Murphy to visit from time to time. I’m in Florida and I think it’s time to sell and move on, thinking of Virginia near Shenandoah valley
That is a beautiful area. The first time I saw it was going up I-81 at sunrise...wow, amazing...I have been out of Fl for 20+ years. Good luck on the move.
There is not much to see in Murphy..The sun is out, the water is down. I could do another River video just for reference. The only action going is the outpouring of relief efforts by the local people to the people of the Asheville area..Above and beyond...

Are there any dams in threat of bursting that may effect Murphy?
No, We are fine, the only dam 'above' us is Chatuge. It is in fine shape...
