Nina Derwael and Beth Tweddle had equally crazy routines that didn’t include a dead hang in the middle, and a smooth transition from high to low. This was great but they have been just as good if not better.

That straight jaeger really amazed me! My jaw immediately dropped and my mouth was open the whole time. It's definitely one of the top2 hardest on bars. I don't see anyone doing it in Tokyo 2020. It's still SO SO amazing to watch even after 10 years!
1. Not all, but many Chinese look younger than Americans. 2. He Kexin started to learn gymnastic in 1997 and because of her good skills on the bar, she was already chosen by the team of Beijing in 2002. According to you, she was 9 in 2008, so wow, she was only 3 when she was picked into the team of Beijing, and she started learning even before she was in her mom's uterus!!! 3. Do you have even ONE evidence to say that she was 9??? If no evidence, your "decision" is not convincing at all.
No she’s not 9, but what was suspicious was their bodies. Not dwelling on the “small size” which is of course given for Asian girls but the shape. They don’t look to have a body of a 16 year old. What’s even more interesting is that after this Olympics no Chinese female gymnast look as young as some of these girls anymore. They all look actually like 16 and 16+ year olds, and the team also basically stopped medaling. That’s suspicious since we know that women peak at around 13-15 for gymnastics-like sports, then their body changes to have more body mass at lower body parts which creates a bigger “drag”. That’s why in figure skating for example you see 13-15 year old girls doing lots of complicated jumps such as triple axel and quads, but then when they hit 16 they couldn’t do them anymore. Of course we’ll never know for sure.
@@lhukasrodrigues3213 that’s because training and selections have progressed to being very different now, since everybody now has to be at least 16. But apparently China is still stuck in the past way of doing things so that’s why women’s have been on a free fall, as it shows once again with this year’s disastrous Olympics. They have to drastically make the change and transition otherwise they’ll never stand on the podium again, because many more countries are gonna catch up.
Yes he died in early July of cancer. He missed seeing Max Whitlock become a double Olympic Champion. He was such a good and fair commentator, was never chavunistic....After listening to Monica Phelps and John Taylor in the 80s, he was so, so, much better.
Her routine in UB final still worths 6.6 D score in the newest COP can you believe? Her another routine which was designed for 2008-2012 COP (eight elements count) worths even more D scores.
Its almost as if the the low bar is the nemesis for the petite Chinese gymnasts (and other small gymnasts too). They do the most basic transitions just to minimally satisfy that requirement and come to almost a dead hang. Their artistry is amazing as long as you're talking about the top bar. If you're that small and have all that extra room to almost stretch out fully in between the bars, then you'd better be doing some amazing work.
Their transitions are a lot better these days now that they don't do the toe shoot anymore. Though, Jiang Yuyuan had a really great shoot to high bar, her 2010 worlds AA UB performance was wonderful.
I don't know if this skill was allowed in the 2006-08 code, but in the 90s, the gymnasts would kind of "sit" on the low bar for a split second and use their legs to push them back to the high bar. Dominique Moceanu did that twice during her Atlanta bar routine and she was even more tiny than Kexin here. It probably would've worked better for the petite gymnasts: th-cam.com/video/uBP2PO1gVd0/w-d-xo.html (time stamps are at 0:13 and 0:24)

LKIOKOK pil Handstands and turns are elements that people often overlook as being difficult but trust me, those are more difficult than they look and Nastia had a much higher difficulty in those elements.
nathaliexlr8 ONLY if Nastia hit those handstands on top. But she was over in almost all of them, so she should not get full credit for them. Her SV should have been far lower than He Kexin.

sorry i know this isnt really relevant to your comment but i was watching the gymnastics at the london olympics and noticed the scores were a lot lower than beijing and as someone who love gymnastics but only gets time to watch the olympics gymnastics i didnt know if it was because they changed the marking criteria or simply if the standard dropped and the likes of nastia, shawn and yang yilin were no longer around.
In pinyin (chinese romanisation system) e's are pronounced "uh" and x's are pronounced as "sh". It should have been "huh kuhshin" but they pronounced it like "huh kuhsin"
Its like He kexin's most strength she had on the other three apparatuses got transferred to the uneven bars and in order to beat nastia liukin in a double tiebreaker who was a very strong all-arounder and was also a bars and beam champion she had to be like goku did 10x kaioken when he first fought vegeta.
Wasn't this the girl the age controversy was on?? The Chinese team said she was 16(1992), but they found evidence she was 14(1994) also? I don't think she was 16.. She 14.
There was actually no evidence whatsoever. Their birth certificate all checked out. But then the American media suggested that they were forged. Again with no evidence. The only "evidence" was that there was a news reporting age mistake in the Chinese media and a reporter asking them about how they celebrated their 15th birthday and they replied: "it was ordinary"
It was but I understood it since the whole Yang Yun and Dong Fangixiao thing happened back in Sydney in 2000, it was hard to trust China on the ages of their gymnasts.
just cause a bunch of you can't do a cross handed second yager don't be jealous just cause nastia can't do it to. He kexin won get over it. It was a tie but she still won and Nastia has more errors anyway too many leg seperation and an ugly form but he kexin was beautiful just 2 small errors when nastia gets 3 clear errors.
Funny thing is, she's 23 now. That means she was only 14 when she competed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that a 14 year old is allowed to compete at the olympics?
I don’t know if we will ever know for sure. She was listed as 13 the year before the 2008 Olympics in an article published in China. That was well known at the time of the Olympics and they just brushed it off as a misprint or something and printed up these athlete passports. I certainly don’t blame the athletes, they could have been threatened with who knows what if they don’t say whatever they are told to say.
It would technically be impossible because you would be catching the deltchev facing forwards. If you add a half twist then you'll be catching it backwards. Then when you are facing backwards you can't do another deltchev, you can do another Jaegar because that's facing backwards..
Okay apologies in advance I obviously don't know anything about this but...Nastia's handstands on the bar seemed to last foverver, whereas this girl seems to have bigger amplitude. Are either of those observations either accurate, or relevant to scoring? Thanks.
I think what matters most is that they hit the handstand but depending on the code of points judges might be able to take deductions in regards to dynamics and artistry. Not sure what the exact rules for this Olympics was but it is definitely a possibility.
This is such an odd routine. It is great in technical skill but parts of it are quite sloppy. Her transition to the low bar and lack of utlizing the low bar is a distraction. Some of her transitions were sloppy.
Sour Americans, you going around belittling the Chinese doesn't change the fact that He Kexin is the gold medalist on the uneven bars. Gold medal in hand, laughing at the mad dogs.🤪
It was satisfying when Mustafina put the smack down on her in London. He’s face was priceless. The dead hang/ muscled parts kill the flow of this routine for me.
If you find humor in something like that, you must still be in preschool. Strange to think a toddler could have such grasp of the English language. Talk about a nasty statement. Yes, her routine had some areas that were definitely flawed but I’d hardly call it a “smack down.”
Not everyone in the world can live like in america.. and have fat kids.. ! mos tof this girls come form very poor family.. asians tend to look younger and be smaller..ans skinnier... how can she be 10 years old... did you watch her in London??
