These games were a staple of my childhood. I'm Playing PSO again on the Ultima server. It's great that your videos help piece together its lore for me again!
Yeah, I'm surprised no one has really replicated it -- there actually is an indie project titled "The Pioneer Project" which I found out about while researching for this video. I would like to cover it on the channel at some point, just haven't gotten around to it.
@@Voidmoney this kind of 'future fantasy' setting is so rare nowadays. and even if psp2 and pso2 are good-ish, NOTHING rivals the mood, art direction, and general ambiance of original pso.
Hey, Void! Awesome job with this video, and the narration and editing are on-point! The transitions are quick and snappy, the footage is varied and corresponds nicely with the voiceover, and the explanation is accessible, even to folks like myself who know next-to-nothing about the PSO universe. I really like how you use a relaxed, conversational tone, yet it's clear that you're really passionate about the lore associated with MMO games like this one, Asheron's Call, and Baldur's Gate. It's a really cool domain of the gaming world, and I'm happy to see that there are a good number of folks who have been looking for this kind of content! By the way, this got recommended to me today, and it looks like it's been getting a strong response in general - that's awesome, man! I hope your summer's been going well - and keep up the superb work with this series! :D
Awesome that youtube's algorithm sent you full circle here! Thanks for all the kind words, I appreciate your input as normal, and good to hear you're enjoying summer. I came across across your Dark Nut remix recently and have been meaning to write a dissertation on it!
@@Voidmoney Hey, thanks so much for the thoughtful reply, Void! :D Yeah, it's interesting that this showed up on my Home page when I opened the TH-cam app the other day. Just out of Curiousity since i only met one person my age (M/22) are there more people near my Age that still play PSO either on GC or PsoBB(my platforms) or the other versions? i.E: Xbox and DC?
@@Only_SomeFigured as much. Tho i have met some on Ephinea that are still close to my Age. I was mainly Interested since the game was almost Older than me and is still one of my most Favourite games maybe even the Favourite Game.
Phantasy Star continues to be one of my favorite things in the world, though I stopped after 2, as I hated New Genesis because it felt too floaty by comparison. I have both a Dreamcast and Gamecube copy of PSO, as well as Universe on both PS2 and PC DVD-ROM. I'm currently trying to hunt down a physical copy of the XBox PSO, and physical copies of the original runs of Phantasy Star 2 and 4 outside of the Sega Smash Pack. One of my next cosplays is actually gonna be a RAcaseal suit, and I will be working on it once I'm done making Bridget from Guilty Gear! It makes me happy to hear that other people are still showing interest in the series decades after it came out. I hope it continues to bring you joy just as it does me! These days I typically play on Ultima PSO and Clementine PSU, though I'm not on very often anymore because of how busy my life is lately. I hope to come back, though!
Question is, what is the total population of Pioneer 2 when it finally reached and made contact with Pioneer 1 during the Episode 1 of Phantasy Star Online?
@@Voidmoney I was thinking about the fictional story line. I wonder how much population PIONEER 2 could hold. Wonder if PSO Wikipedia or the game director had any idea how big is the floating city actually is.
IIRC, Pioneer I had about 10,000 people. Pioneer II had 20,000. The majority of colonists in PI were scientists and military personnel to lay down the foundations while P2 was supposed to be the first wave of civilian colonists.

Any Phantasy Star Character: *Turns to the left*
Dark Falz: Hi.
Kinda wish they'd move past Dark Falz, or revisit warring factions of the core races.

This was Great. I had PSO zero but never beat it and loved the lore connection.
Feel like I need to replay it. Think I still have it sitting around somewhere. Never knew their storylines were actually connected either.
Well Zero had that mention only in a side quest (why tho?)
A lore video of PSO and not a gameplay?? Let's goooo!!!
