I love this performance! When I'm playing the fretless it's almost like all the doors are unlocked. The power of glissando and the ability to really feel out melodies and intervallics with very musical results sometimes happens.
I love the way you improvise. There is no telling what comes next. Like Jeff but academic. Like Jimi but sober. Whatever, you opened new doors. Guitar playing will not be the same, ever.
Great to see that Fuze finally has his own youtube! I met you in Finland back in 1997 and it was like meeting my greatest hero. We talked after the gig, still have the photo somewhere, and I remember you telling me that you practiced rollerskating. The first Torsos album blew my mind, been a huge fan since! Cheers Fuze :) - Kim from Finland
Maybe a little too experimental for my taste, but it's fantastic you're pushing the boundaries like this. I revisit your stuff every so often and I'm always intrigued, it might even be growing on me! :)
Hi! thank you so much for listening!! I really do appreciate it. I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean? when I listen to Louis Armstrong, Ellington, Miles Davis..for example "kind of blue" and more, it doesn't sound chaotic to me. maybe you're referring to more free jazz improvised music? this video is only a short part of a piece and I think its a nice breath of fresh air that does have a few free moments. for me this creates a nice contrast to the rest of the tune and the set. all the best!!
@@hogslammer3098 no we're outlining the chords but temporarily going in and out of key on purpose to give it an ethereal sound. its not math, just practiced experimentation and improvisation with a bit of chance mixed in
😀Johann Gusstafsson double neck based on his blues master model, short scale fretless on top (12 string but I then only used 6 because of intonation issues), 7 string bottom neck with fixed low 7th string bridge to be able to have different drones without affecting the whammy bar

Well, it's not my idea of music and Hiromi's talent is squandered. It's not the kind of thing that draws you in emotionally or intellectually. When the married couple drove off dragging the empty tin cans, I felt I was finally in the presence of celestial music!
This kind of absolutism and pseudo-intellectual rambling is the kind of thing that has no place in any reasonable discourse surrounding music. To even make a statement like "it's not the kind of thing that draws you in emotionally or intellectually" says so much more about the person that said it than anything resembling an objective statement about reality. It drew me in and deeply connected with me emotionally and intellectually! Do you think Hiromi would have hired David for years if his voice was incapable of drawing her in emotionally or intellectually? Maybe you just aren't hearing or feeling the same things we are and that's ok but learning to frame things in a way that isn't so disrespectful or toxic might be helpful in arriving at something even approximating objectivity.

Never heard the guitar sound quite like that. Beautiful and haunting. Thank you.
Didn't know young Morpheus could play that kind of guitar masterpiece!
he has many talents :-)
Epic. Will never forget the sick Fuze shows I saw in '99 and 2000 living in the city
There is rest, and rising, maintenance and restoration in the nonce, then there's this...the sound of being...
