If you are with me then I will go gladly. Very appropriate as a funeral hymn although I've never heard it sung, only played, generally as a Prelude. Registration is SO important for this piece and Mr. Scott does it perfectly.
I LOVE your concerts and followed them since 2020. WHEN could we expect your next concert? Am missing them! THANK YOU for sharing your God-given talent with us! And PLEASE keep us energized by your so BEAUTIFUL organ music!
My goodness Jonathan, your arrangements/transcriptions are remarkable on their own, but your playing never clouds the melody line. Others speed through in some kind of mental race against competing musicians, supposedly to demonstrate technical ability. You and Tom play with agility, but with clarity and great feeling. Thank you again for this another contribution, both in front of, and behind the camera and audio work. Hats off to both of you, and bless you with good things in this coming year. I wish you and those you love health and safety. DJ in Knoxville TN
Though secular text from another cantata, this aria has been sung in sacred settings, referring to the soul being in love with Christ. Incidentally, most singers would collapse of exhaustion halfway through the piece due to the lugubrious tempo... the vocal line demands a *tad* more an up-tempo. However, I must admit, this more languid organ solo realisation with its meldoic setting in a relaxed Arioso tempo lends a whole different feeling to the stirring melodic music of Bach. Oh: the lyrics, translated from Deutsch, into English, brief but stirring as they are: "Be thou with me and I’ll go gladly To death and on to my repose. Ah, how my end would bring contentment, If, pressing with thy hands so lovely, Thou wouldst my faithful eyes then close."

Die Königin der Instrumente - meisterhaft gespielt! Herzlichen Dank dafür!
This was sung at my mother's funeral. So moving.
This is right up there with his interpretation of the Adagio from the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. From Chicago, U.S.A.
How I would love to hear this live. But alas I’m 4,000 miles away in Minneapolis Minnesota
The lyrics and music are wonderful, perfect for weddings. Lindo, Jonathan/Tom. I like this song so much. Thank you! A hug! 🎶🙏👏👍🙌🙋🏻♀️♥️🥰

So happy about the tempi.
What a gorgeous arrangement and the organ at St Laurence is fabulous. I’d love to hear Jonathan play it on a Baroque instrument, too.
Ah such a gorgeous piece, played so well by Jonathan from the wonderful Ludlow concert, which was full of so many little gems.

Ho riascoltato il brano, non ne sono entusiasta, non posso dare giudizi, solo il mio gusto personale. Grazie.
Вы вообще католической церкви
No it’s an Anglican Church
Bach war Christ, nicht Katholik.
Lutheran, no?
