    The Dad jokes Matt. I love this new segment. Go for it. I sense a new TH-cam strategy in play. I'm here for it.

      Dude! Hope all is well and you are staying healthy.
      Dad jokes are in my DNA. My dad still makes me shake my head, but know with a slight grin because I be waiting for the next opportunity to repeat. A few people have said they enjoyed the video, which I am thankful for. Over the years you pick up on a thing or two and I want to share with this awesome outdoor community. I'd love to make "spilling the beans" a reoccurring series to share things a have learned along our journey.

    Thank you, I like seeing what other outdoor enthusiasts use and what they have found to be sustanable products for the way they use equipment. Everyone is different and there is so much out there now. I still have camping gear from the 80's and I still use a lot of it. I have to admit I have replaced some equipment over the years as technology has helped in certain areas. I still have my Coleman gas stove - needs some loving care - LOL. Thank you again for sharing.

      I agree! I love seeing what others are using, how and what makes their camping a more enjoyable experience. The boom in Overlanding has launched so many new companies, solving issues I didn't know I had and bringing so much great technology to the surface. I just mentioned in another comment, it will be interesting to see what this market looks like in 15 years. Who will be a memory and who will be Stanley, a Coleman, staples in the outdoor community. It's awesome to hear you are still running gear from the 80's! I truly hope some of the gear we are running now can make it through our camping journey and better yet be passed down a generation. Thank you for your continued support and dropping a comment of your experience for others to learn from.

    Excellent observations. We have many of the same items. I use a hot tent for my adventures.

      Glad to hear you are running the same gear and have had a similar experience. We have really enjoyed this gear over the years.
      I have had my eye on a hot tent for the past couple years. I really think its a great way to tap into the winter season.

    Helinox chairs. Worth it.
    Durston. Best trekking tent on the market.
    Flextailgear. Best battery powered air pumps.

      Awesome! Thanks for the community more insight on quality gear. We have a roof top tent, but watching Dan Becker on TH-cam has got me considering getting into back-packing.

    Thanks Matt, really enjoying the channel. I have caught up on a bunch of your past videos as well. Did enjoy your insights into the camping gear toys. Good to hear what experience people are doing so thank you for that.

      That's awesome. Thanks for stopping in and dropping a comment.
      I am the first person to admit, I love gear, specifically quality gear. It's a constant battle of keep it simple, yet comfortable at camp. When I looked over our gear, I realized we retained it for most of our family camping journey. Although, you always have to be mindful of your budget, it pays to do some research and buy quality gear. Especially, when its something you are passionate about.

      Awesome! I am glad you found it informative. Let me know if you have any specific more detailed questions. For our mode of adventure this gear has fit the bill.
      I was able to find links for most of the gear in the description, but let me know if you have trouble finding anything.

    I like taking a fan but I do moto camping so finding room for it is tough, and I always debate between mosquito repellers like a thermacell patio and portable I clip on my dog!

    • @FreysOnTheSide
      @FreysOnTheSide  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can only imagine how tough it could be to find room on your bike for gear. I struggle with how much stuff we can bring with our Jeep. Just goes to show you, when you think you have a pretty minimalist set-up, you can always somebody that runs with less. These fans are defiantly a luxury item and are great to have around camp.

    Dude, the LUSB Oscar Trash bag is so nice. Also, I hit the end and was about to light you up for not talking about the Weatherwool, but you did it! Great job, :D.

      That bag is awesome. I have been thinking lately, how can I bring more value to this amazing outdoor community we both so passionately enjoy. I figured what better way then have a cup of coffee and talk shop on valuable things I have learned over the year.
      And Weatherwool...I honestly did forget to film that part and started up the camera again. I even second guest if I should of kept that part in during edit. I can only imagine how many people fell off their chair seeing that price tag! That said, it is seriously is one of the best things I have ever bought.

      Over the years, everyone learns a thing or two along the way. I want to provide more value to this outdoor community, so I am glad I was able to hold your attention. So far, I have gotten positive feedback, so you might see a few more of these style videos in the future.

      We have really enjoyed the grinder over the years. Although the initial investment was on the steep side, we have had this on every adventure and it has held up great.

    I love my goal zero smash light but I’ve done had to buy 3 because I have a bad habit of leaving this at the campsite

      Ah man, that's a bummer indeed! I'll admit, how you wrote it your comment, made my chuckle. haha. Defiantly a habit you need to break.

    My Chinese diesel heater is the most bulletproof kit I own. Kidding, if that's the case, I might just want to camp in my backyard only 😂. Our Stanley cookware set, tho.. that gets the job done!

    • @FreysOnTheSide
      @FreysOnTheSide  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You almost had me "up in arms!" I was like what!? I am still saving my pennies to purchase Propex.
      Stanley has been around for a long time and they are still making great stuff. The overland community has launched a TON of new companies and it will be interesting to see what this market will look like in 15 years. Who will be a memory and who will be a Stanley.

      @FreysOnTheSide trudat! Nothing more disappointing than spending good money on something you thought was good only to find out it's not, and the explosion definitely has brought us some stinkers.

    • @FreysOnTheSide
      @FreysOnTheSide  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right! The diesel heater has definitely opened the doors to extending our season. BUT I cannot not wait to get a more reliable system and share the good news with the community.
