Wyoming Solo High Country Mule Deer

- On this hunt I head into the backcountry of Wyoming to chase mule deer with a rifle. With camp on my back I wondered through the high country in search of a monster buck. With my Dad and Brother showing up the following week with tags in there pockets as well, I was on a mission to put one on the ground before they got there so I could focus on helping them when they showed up!

Soloing for that long definitely looks like it could be tough. Wait to grind it out! The terrain looked pretty cool too, not what I’m use to over here. Love seeing all the different landscapes God has given us to enjoy! Bet you wished you had an elk tag as well ;)

So you're allergic to deer dander correct? and not the actual meat? I taught my neighbor how to skin a deer this last season and he broke out in hives like I've never seen, but hes eating my deer jerky and trail bologna 100 times without issue in the past.
Yes that is correct. As soon as the hide with the dander is gone/covered I am fine. I can cut up meet and de bone without a mask as long as there isn’t hair all over the meat still and I have no issues eating the meat. If I touch it I will break out bad wherever it touches me and my eyes will swell shut and my throat starts to close making it tough to breathe. In the end I am just glad I am not allergic to the meat. Also, fun fact... once the hide has gone through the tanning process I am no longer allergic to it. I can touch my mounts with no issues and can breathe just fine with them hanging on the wall. If they were untanned hides hanging on the wall my throat would start closing just being in the same room as them.
My son is the same way….he was fine until he got about 10 and then the exact same thing that you described happens to him

Michael Broadhead I am allergic to the dander in their hide. I take allergy pills and wear a respiratory until the hide has been removed. Luckily through the tanning process I loose the reaction so I am able to hang them in my house still. I wish I could have gotten the shot on camera and tried it just wouldn’t pick it up... and with not seeing much I couldn’t let that buck walk and hope to find him in the morning.
@@chasethehunt2187 no lie thats the same with me.. im usually blessed to have my father with me to help me so i dont need a mask but ya... Does elk bother you? because it doesnt me only deer do
@@mitchellperry8809 I wish it was only deer... so far I have confirmed that Deer, Elk, Caribou, Bighorn Sheep, Antelope, Horses, Cows, and goats all affect me.
