    Glad you had good luck with them. The three that I had all took nice pictures and I really wanted them to work out for me. Unfortunately all of them ended up in the trash in under a year. They will never get another dime from me. I have since switched to Browning, both standard and cellular, and couldn't be happier. Been wanting to try Tactacam, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

      I've used Browning before (not cell) and really liked those as well. They take good pics. I've read a lot of comments about Spypoint this year, so whatever they're jacking up, they better get fixed soon. They're going to lose a lot of business. I guess I've been fortunate that I haven't had many issues. Until other brands start offering free basic cell plans, I don't see myself switching.

    So since you’ve had time to run the FLEX S longer, how has the battery life been in detail?

    • @poefamilyhomestead
      @poefamilyhomestead  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @TEAMRamey I've had them out probably 1 1/2 years with a lit-22 battery and haven't had to change them yet. These are in the woods with poor reception, and not facing direct sunlight. I couldn't be more pleased. I also have these set to take 1 pic per minute and to send at each detection, so keep that in mind. If you send videos or have a super short delay, your results may be different.

    Question: what do you think of the SPYPOINT Flex M versus Flex S. Looking to buy 4 to 6 cameras?
    And can you use a Flex S in the woods or does it have to be in a field where there is more sun hitting it?
    What is best camera for in the woods versus in the field?

    • @poefamilyhomestead
      @poefamilyhomestead  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Flex M looks like it's just a cheap way to have cell cameras. I'm sure they would work fine for a lot of situations, but I haven't tried any of them yet. Looks like you're maybe sacrificing minimal megapixels, video quality, trigger speed, and detection range. I personally wouldn't worry too much about that. The pic/video wouldn't matter to me because if you get all your pics on the app, I would bet you won't see a difference. You'd notice the difference when you download them off the SD card.
      I think ideally the Flex-S is for in the open with full sun exposure. That said, I have 1 camera I left out since last summer. It's a Flex-S that's in the woods. Never recharged the LIT-22 battery pack and it's still sending me pics every day. It is facing south so it's getting the best sun it can while still being shaded most of the day.
      Regardless of woods vs open, I don't think you can beat the Flex-S for battery life. If it's a camera I don't want to disturb through the entire hunting season it will either be a Flex-S or another Flex with a detached solar panel. If it's somewhere you can change batteries without disturbing the deer, I'll use whichever Flex I have available.

    How long do your batteries last on the flex in video mode? Rough estimate on number of videos per day

    • @poefamilyhomestead
      @poefamilyhomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

      I generally don't run them on video except very short periods of time if I have a specific reason. The reason I don't is because I know sending a video file would use a lot more battery. Sorry I don't have a good answer for you. I would think if you set it to only transmit at certain times (maybe 2 times a day), it may not be too bad.

    I have the LT Micro been going in the field about 3 years . A few issues over the years . This lastest outage on 8/28 messed up a lot of people’s cameras . I reboot it manually today when they finally fixed the issue on there end . Just waiting for the communication time .

      I did hear online about a number of people saying that their cameras weren't communicating. Mine didn't go down. I'm not sure if it was only certain cameras, or maybe only certain areas. Hopefully yours are corrected now, and that next communication time you start to get images. It would definitely be frustrating, as deer season is right around the corner.

    good video. im a stealth cam guy but their issue is 1 year warranty and not the 2 year on spypoint and also plans are a bit pricey. Correct me if im wrong but i believe with the 100-250 free photos a month the camera will continue to take pictures and store them on the sd card once over the monthly limit of free photos? If that is true that is a big advantage over stealth cam. without a cell plan the cameras wont take pictures.

    • @poefamilyhomestead

      @@fisherman_of_navarone yes, when I deactivated my Reactor after the season ended last January it continued taking pictures. I didn't entirely remove the camera from the Command Pro app, just suspended the plan. When I pulled the camera card in March it had continued taking pictures until that time. Reactivating the camera did not load those pictures into the app (I wouldn't expect it to). After reactivating, the app prompts for a card format. So getting those pictures requires going to the camera and pulling the card before reactivating/formatting it.

    I bought two Spypoint LM2s and they’ve been out in the woods for two weeks now. I’m not happy at all with the grainy pictures. I can’t even tell how many points are on a buck. Picture quality sucks so I’m returning them before I can’t.

  • @Diffidentone
    @Diffidentone ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I own 12 flex, 1 cell link and 2 of the LM2's and not had a problem with any of them and some have been in the woods non-stop for over a year now. I will say just based on current features I'd not buy the cell link or LM2's again. The LM2's not sure if the software/firmware just has not matured yet but I do not like the lack of p[icture interval settings. Times go 10 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, etc. I need something between the 10 second and 1 minute, like 30 to 40 seconds max as you can miss a lot of deer in that 50 seconds as the firmware stands now. A buck following a doe would most likely go unseen in that time frame or ther 10 second a windy day can ruin your monthly allotment of photos in a couple hours.
    So just flex's for me now unless the LM2 firmware matures to allow more picture interval options in the lower time frame, 30 seconds is usually my sweet spot.

    • @poefamilyhomestead
      @poefamilyhomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Diffidentone
      @Diffidentone ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea I'll get the flex for the foreseeable future, just way more robust features and settings for $20 more over the LM2's. Thought I'd give the LM2 a go since I got them so cheap but just not feeling them at this time based on the software/firmware like I said.
      Think I'll look into getting a couple of the flex-s or some of the lit 22 batteries for at least a couple that I have in the thickest nastiest stuff I have to climb through mud on my hands and knees to get back to. Putting AA's in them every few months is getting to be a chore for my old bones.
