MetalSonic I think after hearing the Red Special for too long the Les Paul was too fat and dark sounding. Prefer the brighter sound of the Red Special. But yes it definitely sounded great
that shows us, you can use this rig for many different styles! The franken-style with iron maiden was very nice! The closest to the BM-Sound was the LP in Bridge-PU!
Cool video, man. I really like your handmade (guitar number 2) tone. The shape of it reminds me of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars. I think it's pretty cool man. Great job!
As a fan of BM and EVH it was cool to see you play in an EVH style with all the harmonics and fast playing. Wasn't expecting that of you since I always hear you play in a Brian May style. Nice job 👍🏼
Ahahah...it's the guitar that asks that kind of playing! :) Anyway, I like those things but it's not my style...I'm not that good with those technique! ;) Thanks a lot for watching!
+Brian May Tribute but actually you know I play EVH stuff and Randy Rhoads stuff on my BMG and it sound fine. The point is that a guitar is a guitar and you can play anything and it will sound good. Like I play Eruption on my BMG with all the tremolo picking and tapping and it sounds great. And I bet playing Eruption, for example, on a RS replica is just as do-able as any other guitar. Btw I'd like to know what video editing software you use because I want to start a TH-cam channel on guitar covers and tutorials and I need a decent, free editor for that. 🙂
+Brian May Tribute Yes I know that feeling. I have a Gibson Les Paul and a Strat Copy from Squier. Those guitars I use so rarely that I don't know actually when I played them the last times. It's always strange to change from a Red Special to another guitar. I built a Red Special with a friend when we were kids and it's so hard to build a Good Instrument...so congrats to a cool homebuild Guitar 👍🏻
Thats right, they all sound very good and really close to the BM Sound. Thats mostly 'cause of the "HAND factor", but its really good to see that with any guitar it can can get really close, maybe not quite there, but really really close
Would be also interesting to hear a stock standard single coil strat and also a strat that has it pickups in series rather than the stock standard parallel wiring
+Brian May Tribute no worries man, it was great to see the other guitars tho It really puts into perspective how much every little thing makes a difference in sound
And that's the point indeed. BM setup is very expressive, so even a little thing can make a difference. It's a kind of perfect balance (RS, TB and Vox).
Hi very nice test. Surely also pick-ups tend to influence the sound. The Red Special has a very nice sound ... i would prefer it with a body completely symmetric by the way Thanks a lot, gino
The Van Halen type guitar sounds the farthest to a Brian May tone. The Les Paul is the closest. The one you hand made is somewhere in between. It has that sort of out of phase sound when the two pickups were combined. Pretty close to the Stone Colc Crazy riff tone - neck and bridge pickup out of phase in the Red SPecial.
You can achieve a Brian May sound with a Epiphone Custom Shop which is different to other Epiphones and other guitars because it has a out of phase switching and you can change the pickups to a single coil rather than a humbucker but you can only use the out of phase when you’ve selected both of them on the pickup selector. Good video!
I think you can select a sort of AC30 type on the Valvetronix and maybe use the Tonelab as a Treble Booster (which is hard really)...? But a TB is a unique device, I think if you buy one will be a very good improvement achieving that tone. Never tried those equipment to be honest so I can help you more, I'm sorry.
Sarei troppo curioso!
2022!!! Hi Marco!!! Any kind of treeble bleed (resistor/capacitor) installed on the potentiometer to clean up the drive or just a logarithm (a) pot.. to do that in the red special???? About the other guitars that seem in the video!!!! Any modification in the volum ckt????
there was no contest with the others soon as you picked up the red special you new strait away you were flogging a dead horse with the others liked the video
Dansan guitar has the best replica pickups, the Adeson trisonic replicas. How do you find the Dansan sounds compared to a much cheaper Brian May brand Red Special with the different cheaper Tri-Sonic pickups and the Wilkenson bridge?
Burns/BMG sounds very good even in comparison with the Dansan. Of course it has not the same "organic" and "three dimensional" sound but a good approximation. It's a good replica especially for the money I think.
Boh :)
Dale Lindley I see you're being abit dumb, you know people say things wrong at times but it's still obvious what they mean... Therefore I can only assume you lack common sense
The VR sounds similar to a stock AC30...but similar. It's a solid state amp anyway...but sounds nice especially for the price. BM amp is hotter than an all-valve AC30, more harmonics and dynamics...so quite far from the VR to be honest.
Chitarra unica e inarrivabile
It's an enormous INSULT to have a gorgeous "Jimmy Page" style Les Paul and a beautiful white striped Frankenstrat in the same room as that ugly piece of garbage firelog that Brian May calls a guitar.
I hope you're kidding. If not, I have to inquire as to why you came to watch this video in the first place, as well as how you can even tell, considering he doesn't play the Red Special in this video.
Wow, actually my favorite sound was the Les Paul! It's like the Brian May sound but smoother.
MetalSonic I think after hearing the Red Special for too long the Les Paul was too fat and dark sounding. Prefer the brighter sound of the Red Special. But yes it definitely sounded great
brian did use a les paul as a spare in the 70s
@@wormstheii I remember seeing an old black and white photo of Brian playing a Les Paul

Thanks Marco. Brilliant video. Les Paul sounded lush. Would love you to do a single coil strat like Rory Gallagher.
Thank you, yeah...I think a stock Tele and Strat would be nice in the test...
Unfortunately I don't have them at the moment! :)
Cool video, man. I really like your handmade (guitar number 2) tone. The shape of it reminds me of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars. I think it's pretty cool man. Great job!
I had never thought about the Millennium Falcon...ahahahah!!!
Great! I'm a Star Wars fan so I think it's a really nice thing! ;)
Thanks for watching.

My favorite was definitely the homemade guitar. It was just amazing and the best in my opinion.
Very interesting to see Marco. I like the tone of you're homebuild Guitar. It's similar to the Red Special. As always superb Playing 👍
Thanks a lot...I didn't play that guitar for long time and it's great to discover again how it sounds good.
I'm very proud of it.

Touch is very important in a BM setup indeed.
Do you think you could do a similar video, only using the red special with a different amp? Like a 100W Marshall for example
Thanks Marco amazing video

nice 6 string bass u got there

Nice to see your test, all sound silmilar but the Red Special has that extra sweetness about it, Let me Entertain you, well you certainly did.
Thank you.
Hey marco, how are you?
Did you ever try the software guitar rig, and if yes, what are your thoughts about it, especially with Brian may tone.
Cheers!
I'm sorry but I never tried guitar software to be honest...I'm an old school guy! :)

It has that sort of out of phase sound when the two pickups were combined. Pretty close to the Stone Colc Crazy riff tone - neck and bridge pickup out of phase in the Red SPecial.
Sounds good but the out of phase sound you can't get with humbuckers without rewiring and adding in switches. Great demo and try.
Caspita ma quante chitarre hai? XD
Ne ho qualcuna in casa... :)
Amazing. Could you provide the info for the amps and pedals you are using?
It's very simply: guitar, Treble Booster and a Vox AC30 BM up full.

Just Goes to show you don't a red special to get that brian may tone. but a red special does help
And this scratchy "khh" sound because of the sixpence
with the EVH guitar you can only choose the neck PU ?? I don't think so! lol
It only has one pickup on it so yes it can only be used on that...
