Before I watch this, just wanted to drop a line to say you're my latest sub and current favorite playthrough-er. (playthrough-er?) Down to earth and not even remotely annoying - the one unfortunate constant in a lot of TH-camrs lately. At least in my view. Basically, keep doing what you're doing. So, the blue cracks with the red fumes on the collosi are very simple weak spots that cause minimal damage, and are primarily for gaining access to other parts of the creature. With the giraffe-looking colossi you'll note it lowered its neck and stopped its head from bucking once you stabbed the weak spot twice. 20:33 that's like getting the right answer with the wrong formula haha. Each of those little shrines you can always find one of those lizards around. Eating their tails helps your stamina, also eating fruit from trees elongates your life bar.
I'm extremely late to watching this playthrough, but you definitely can pet agro while off of her. In fact, I thought you could only pet her while off since I never tried to while riding her.

I'm glad my recommendations showed your Shadow of the Colossus video. I love finding relatively new channels like yours and watch them grow. Subscribed. :)
The first Far Cry game i ever played was #3. I loved it because the scenery reminded me of home. Played FC4, didnt care for it but loved the little gyrocopter. And I played FC: Primal. I really liked being able to call and ride my Sabertooth Tiger whenever i want to get around faster. Definitely looking forward to FC5.
Well... just because we stop playing the game, doesn't mean Agro will want to stop exploring, haha, but yeah, cool opening. I didn't know that was a part of the game/or I forgot. Now that I think about it, this game's only flaw is there aren't more involved Agro petting mechanics or ways to lavish adoration on Agro. At the moment I am playing a game, that gives you a pet pig that not only lets you pet it to your hearts content, but the lil pig will visibly produce hearts when you pet it and other cute mechanics. Agro needs more pet/heart mechanics! The way you edited the white tail lizard fight, made it seem longer than it probably was... does that mean we can count it as an unofficial Colossi/Boss fight? It felt just as epic. Also sorry Marz... everyone who plays this game has to accept they are a monster for killing these beautiful gentle majestic Colossi haha, but no, I understand what you mean, a lot of fans of this game, feel guilt/empathy towards the Colossi, but thats a good quality really. The complex and nuance feelings the game stirs up, questions it makes us experience. Imagine if the Colossi were one dimensional evil giants. Would totally change the games tone/feel, but yeah, I felt bad too. Makes the game memorable. Oh and I think its hitting you extra hard because you are an animal person. Many of the Colossi are basically big goofy, gentle lovable animals, like dogs, cows, seals, horses, etc
Yes, I'm 2 years late, I just found your channel yesterday. I don't know if anyone told you, much less if you'll even see this, but if you do, the glowing thing you picked up was something that was added in the remake, so it wasn't in the original. There are 79 of them, and they are referenced as the "79 Steps to Enlightenment" which is an allusion to another TH-camr known as Nomad Colossus. Basically, he's been picking this game apart pretty much since it was first released way back in 2005, and I believe he assisted in the remaster of it as well. He was even given a trophy in the game (Boon of the Nomad, the one you get for discovering the cave in the forest) and he was mentioned in the credits, along with the 79 Steps. Anyway, collecting all 79 of them allows you to go underneath the Shrine of Worship and collect the most powerful sword in the game, the Sword of Dormin, but it also decreases your health regeneration. All of this was never in the original, but the door that you enter to obtain the sword was a center of fan speculation years ago. Also, 79 was intentional, despite it being such a strange number. 79 is the hexadecimal value for 4F, the position on the map that the Shrine is at. Also a sidenote, I LOVE Fullmetal Alchemist. You said here that you didn't watch the original, and I don't know if you have since then, but if you haven't, I would highly recommend it. There are so many more heart-wrenching messages in it, it's so amazing. As for your videos, they're great! :D
You look amazing - there are two title screen modes that you can get into in the game, one where you follow & steer Agro and another where you possess the hawk! Take every opportunity you can to work on your horsemanship - it'll help a LOT in later fights (and makes you look like a legitimate badass) to have excellent control while using your bow or sword. Also, nailing the execution of the jumping-sword-plunge can help streamline weakspot hits that favors a weaker grip-gauge. P.S. If you can do it safely and want to have your mind blown, check out some speed-runs for the Colossi you have already beaten to see what crazy tricks people get up to.
School. Tell me about it! I remember once writing an essay on a certain game phenomenon in Interactive Storytelling class (mandatory game courses, as part of my major in New Media Studies). My professor commended me for the originality of the topic, the style it was written in and used source material, yet at the end of the day he barely gave me a pass. Sometimes it's really unclear what they want from you lol. It's nice being able to unwind from all that stress, with a game like this. Hmmm, with each Colossus we kill I get more iffy of what we're doing, and for what reason :/ The sad music when we kill these creatures (to me they're kinda depicted as benign Guardians of the Valley, unlike Dormin who I see more as a manipulative force like "the Master of the Valley" from The Last Guardian), the mysterious black figures, the appearance of a storm in the sky when Dormin first started talking (ep 1). He even said the outcome of our quest, the sacrifice we will have to make, might be greater than we think... The creativity that went into creating the character models for the Colossi is amazing. Leave it to Team ICO to come up with these original designs. And the various, expansive environments are a sight to behold too.
Ugh sounds like one of my past art teachers... It always takes me a long time to draw an image because I tend to over analyze and be too much of a perfectionist and so I'd get like, half way done with something that the class only had a week to do. She'd look at it and be like, this is amazing, the structure is perfect. Looks awesome. C because it's not done. GEEZ LADY!? From then on it's like she avoided complimenting my work in front of the class.. She really kind of ruined art for me sadly.
When people make art about competition and time-based assignments, really takes the fun out of being creative and creating your own vision/style. I get it, that is what school is about. Still... pssh!
This game is a piece of art! Remembering my childhood playing this on PS2 but with better graphics is amazing! I'm very excited to see your reaction on the further colossi, some of them you won't forget! Loving the walktrough, keep up the good work!
The controls are pretty crazy so its not weird at all that you are having problems with them. Or had problems with them. Also I find it funny that you experience this as a chill relaxing game because fighting those Titans stresses me out. Especially if they don’t do what I want lol!
At 7:57 you found a collectible called coin?... It represents a very very difficult fetch quest. There are 79 of them and there is a huge reward after collecting them at the end. (Won't spoil). And they are very well hidden so if you go on the lookout for those without a guide you better be ready to spend hoooooours finding them Marz. Lol The cracks on the colossus such as the ones found in 23:10 are to make the colossi react in a certain way so you can climb them easier, the other ones like 23:35 are the main sources of light that you need to stab to kill them.
There are glowing sigils signifying the main weak points in each colossus. Then there are glowing cracks which only serves to lead you to get closer to the main weak point(s). Cracks like the back of the neck of the 4th colossus and the calf of the 1st colossus. Usually two stabs finish the crack (once the red mist disappears). The coin you collected was a huge secret that was just completed a few hours ago by another streamer. There are 79 to collect but you shouldn't worry about that since you still have other stuff you can get like weapons and armour from beating time attacks. You should be able to pray on the broken statues to activate time attack mode for each colossus. Fruits increase max health. Silver tail lizards increase max stamina. However, you'll automatically increase those as well from each colossus defeated (the black stuff that enters your body).
Yeah, I commented before I watch the whole part where you explained it lol. I don't think you can sadly. Anyway, as someone pointed out I'm really glad that you take the time to actually learn the controlsl. I can't wait to see your whole walktrough. You are going to love this game! ^^
*talks about how the game is good for relaxing and mellowing out* *says those things seconds before one of the most stressful and scary bosses in the game*
I would love to see some exploration video! That's at least 40% of the appeal of this game as far as I'm concerned. This is also my first experience with Shadow of the Colossus, and I'm taking it slow, putting in an hour of exploration, knocking off one or two colossi, and then watching some play-throughs like yours. Two ideas: 1) explore now and post the time code for the colossus battles for those who wish to skip, or 2) release exploration episodes after the finale made up of footage taken during this play-through, or after the end-game? Side note: I had a similar experience recently with environmental science courses. I love the subject, and had a great time with one of them, but the other one was the most confusing and grueling experience I had in academia. Best of luck to you!
If you want you can scroll the timebar of the video to get a preview of what's happening at what timecode. For me this works both on desktop and mobile. This way you'll always know when the battle starts and what is mere exploration ;)
The black tailed skinks don't do anything, maybe heal a little bit if you don't have full health, but in those times you are healing slowly anyway. Every small (and big) shrine has a white tailed skink, they increase your stamina slightly, but they add up and make a huge difference. You can also shoot the tail and it will be left behind and the skink will live. And keep an eye on a specific type of tree, it's fruits will increase your health. Oh and in order to do the quick running start with Agro, you have to stand still, and at the same time push both the analog down and press the botton.
Yeah, the silver tails each give you a little bit more stamina. Apparently you get a lot more stamina for each colossus killed, too. The black tails only replenish health, according to a wiki page. On the 'horse' colossus, players usually climb up the backside, but you went for the nose braids - cool! Ok, if I ever design a game with collectible little critters to kill, they will emit a piano melody until they die. Attacking the brighter glyphs is the only way to kill a colossus. Attacking the less prominent ones cause other effects like tripping them or getting them to bend over.
Lmao Marz i love your random ass singing! But im super jealous now that you get to play SOTC. Every episode is getting better and better. Needs me a PS4.
Great Vid! Yeah, unfortunately it looks like they removed it from the settings for this remake. In the HD remaster on the PS3, it has camera correction as an option. It really helps when climbing, bc the camera won't snap back :( . Skinks: you are correct, only the white tails count. There are 70 and I want to say about 45% of them are on those shrines. A little tip: is each shrine has around 1 to 3 Skinks hanging around them. The trick is after you kill one, ride away a bit then return and another Skink should be there. If not, then that shrine only has the 1. Obviously, they are a pain in the butt to nab, so that's up to you how many you want to get. Even if you only get the one from each shrine, you'll be in great shape.
I love how cinematic and beautiful this game is. Visually a stunning master piece. I enjoyed even the exploration tid bits of sight seeing in your last video. Wish I could explore a place like that in real life with a horse. Sooo many cool tricks ☺️🐻
I agree with you about the camera especially on horseback. It has always been a pain to deal with especially later when you need to use Agro for the colossi. I know that the camera angle makes the game look more cinematic, but it doesn't help with the gameplay. I was actually hoping they would give an option for a static camera, oh well. Everything else about the game is solid so I think it more than balances it out.
Marz the glowing cracks are JUST trigger points to get the Colossus to do an action so you can reach another point, ht them once to trigger the action and move on.The ONLY Vitals are the glowing Tattoo like points
Hi Marz, great video again, you can pet agro but you have to be at the side of her, she has to be still with your sword sheathed. Remember when you were in those woods (map grid square E5) and you said you wanted to explore them? I wish you had because you were really close to discovering a cool Easter egg that you'll love. Go back and find it if you can. Finally, please stick with the game, there isn't much story until you get to the end but the ending is fantastic! Cheers :)
Well...that's certainly the first time I've seen someone get on the horse colossi via its head and not its back. But hey...if it works. xD Also, I've played and beaten this so many times...and I ALWAYS get lost trying to find the sixth colossi. That pine forest...every time! xD And god, I love that silly music when you go after the skinks. xD
You can only find skinks around trees, shrines, and cliffs. Fruits only on trees. Just a useful hint. Also, there's a hawk you can grab unto for minutes from the hills in front of the main entrance to the 16th colossi. Anyways. Good luck on your exploration. 😜 you got a new sub.
You know how barba can really shake you off his head? Well he shook me and I fell so I held down the grab button and I landed perfectly on the glyph on his back. It really saved me stamina crawling down to it
Wow haha in the first episode your appearance reminded me of peachytsundere on Instagram, but second episode you remind me a lot of Rachel Amber from Life Is Strange: Before The Storm. Also I'm late to this playthrough but I'm enjoying watching you figure out how to kill the colossi and have fun with the game!
the Sigils are the spots that deal the most and important damage, the scars are just to help you get the Colossus to move a certain body part, like with the first one, it would fall if you hit it and this one would bow it's head
Hello Marz, greetings from France. I discovered you recently on The Last Guardian and since i like to follow your adventures so i subscribed :) ps : sorry for my English.
I know this is old but not being able to pet Agro in the PS4 remake drove me crazy. I actually switched back to the classic controls from the original game instead of using the "better, more refined" controls of the remake and in doing so regained the ability to pet Agro both off and on her by using the trusty circle button and it worked properly every time.
You said you like games in nature. A game to check out could be Firewatch. It is a story based adventure game about a forest ranger in the 80s (I think). It's fairly short but the story is good.
You can do a jump stab that makes a lot of damage by jumping and then holding R2 and square. Very useful when you don't have time foer a charged stab. Its a little tricky though
You should check out your map sometime to see how far you traveled in relation with the shrine, etc. I'm glad you noticed the music and how it changes during different segments. For the most part, there's the "discovery of the area," "colossus entrance," "climbing the colossus," and "colossus defeated" theme music. You're right, the white-tailed lizards are the only ones that grant stamina, and they are only found at the smaller altars scattered around the land. For the command to rear up Agro, you want to press them at the same time. But if that's not working, try pressing down on the thumbstick a split-second prior to pressing TRIANGLE. If you remember the end segment in The Last Guardian when you're on one of the bad Trico's back as he's flying around the area, that segment was done to pay homage to the fifth colossus boss fight (the flying one).
Wasn't that flying segment for the fifth Colossus in the original game from 2005 as well? Meaning it was designed way before The Last Guardian. I haven't played either of the games so that's why I'm asking.
JustJD Yes it was. You and I are basically saying the same thing. Shadow of the Colossus came way before The Last Guardian. That flying segment in TLG made SOTC fans happy as it paid homage to that colossus boss fight.
I don’t know who told you the controls, but they told you the wrong ones. You don’t need to hold any button to pet Argo. You just push square and you can do it off him to.
I would tell myself that they were spirits Trapped inside these colossi (and the colossi aren't a thing, just a vessel or "machine") And I am setting them Free, I don't know if it is true or not, but making me feel better while watching they are the Animals they look like, but Trapped in these Giant Things
I’m starting to get a hang of the controls! All I want to do is explore! I’ll have to do some off camera.
I’m really enjoying how relaxing this game is. The sounds of nature and silence are soothingly peaceful.

The giants are really well design ! Each time I'm eager to see what will look the next giant you'll face too ;) I didn't expected to enjoy this lp so much !
For an animal lover you take a lot of pleasure in killing those little creatures, the skink^^ And the music you're using when hunting those is so funny !
I never got into patreon and stuff like that but you might be the exception. You're let's plays are so great as for your editing and commentaries.
Watching you be confused by petting Agro is so funny
Well... just because we stop playing the game, doesn't mean Agro will want to stop exploring, haha, but yeah, cool opening.
Would love to play this game and Horizon Zero Dawn but haven't got PlayStation 4 yet. I will continue watching you.
The Skink hunting was hilarious! Not sure if it was background music, flailing misses, or both that made it really funny! Awesome vid Thx Marzter
Loving the walktrough, keep up the good work!
lol that intro was too adorable! lol
Hello Christine,
this is a nice let's play. See you for the next episodes of this epic adventure ;)
Agro has a big yard to play in. Horse's dream. She just need some more buddies and BoJack Horseman to join in on the party.
Lol
The cracks on the colossus such as the ones found in 23:10 are to make the colossi react in a certain way so you can climb them easier, the other ones like 23:35 are the main sources of light that you need to stab to kill them.
Im pretty sure back in the day the colossi would keep flying around in circles if you missed the first jump. This one turned around pretty quick
Watching you play is such a joy!
Lol... My mom used to sing the same way
I love Far Cry. All.
"Oh-moooooooooooo" HAHAHA I'm new to this channel but already love your random noises XD
You can pet Agro, you have to be on her back and stand still, then press square. Love your videos between. Keep up! : )
I did pet her on her back :)
I'm determined to pet her while not! Next time!
Yeah, I commented before I watch the whole part where you explained it lol. I don't think you can sadly. Anyway, as someone pointed out I'm really glad that you take the time to actually learn the controlsl. I can't wait to see your whole walktrough. You are going to love this game! ^^
*talks about how the game is good for relaxing and mellowing out*
*says those things seconds before one of the most stressful and scary bosses in the game*
27:40 Why does it take you so long to light a match?
Wow, just wow! You killed that flyer colossus like super fast, holy crap! Great job
Wow that's a strong bird to carry wander like that! 💪
You should use photo mode to take a good look at Wander after every few Colossi. You may start to notice some differences.
Yeah! I keep forgetting you all told me to check him out. Next time i'll have to look at him and see what's going on lol
Wow Marz good New look cyberpunk, fun gameplay as usual...
Amazing video. This game is so amazing and so nostalgic. I'm a new sub btw!
Cheers :)
The jungle part around 41:02 Remind me of metal gear solid 3
Well...that's certainly the first time I've seen someone get on the horse colossi via its head and not its back. But hey...if it works. xD
Also, I've played and beaten this so many times...and I ALWAYS get lost trying to find the sixth colossi. That pine forest...every time! xD
And god, I love that silly music when you go after the skinks.
It really saved me stamina crawling down to it
I love your videos and the way you telling is very funny
Wow haha in the first episode your appearance reminded me of peachytsundere on Instagram, but second episode you remind me a lot of Rachel Amber from Life Is Strange: Before The Storm. Also I'm late to this playthrough but I'm enjoying watching you figure out how to kill the colossi and have fun with the game!
the Sigils are the spots that deal the most and important damage, the scars are just to help you get the Colossus to move a certain body part, like with the first one, it would fall if you hit it and this one would bow it's head
Gotcha! That makes sense
I can't wait to watch you play the ending. That'd be interesting. 😊
"I hope this is a good thing"
Narrator: It isn't a good thing
As a Xena fan, I love that you kept calling her Argo. :)
Hello Marz, greetings from France.
I discovered you recently on The Last Guardian and since i like to follow your adventures so i subscribed :)
ps : sorry for my English.
Avion and Phalanx are my favorites
I love your videos yoooo!!!!!

"TEAM ROCKET BLASTING OFF AT THE SPEED OF LIIGHTT"
You said you like games in nature. A game to check out could be Firewatch. It is a story based adventure game about a forest ranger in the 80s (I think). It's fairly short but the story is good.
This has been my favorite game since it came out.
You can do a jump stab that makes a lot of damage by jumping and then holding R2 and square. Very useful when you don't have time foer a charged stab. Its a little tricky though
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, remember.
Try to pet agro off to the side of her. It's a bit finicky to bet him, however you can pet her when wander is off of her
5:14 WHAT?😳 lmao 😂😂😂
I didn't even notice that hahahaha
Agro, the drifting horse!
There's very little to do in the world but it does look beautiful 😍
You killed Avion without falling once? That’s some pro gamer moves right there
You should check out your map sometime to see how far you traveled in relation with the shrine, etc.
Oh I see. Just noticed I didn't read your comment correctly.
There are white-tailed lizards in random places also, not just at the shrines. Those extra ones are super hard to find.
Love you marz...
I don’t know who told you the controls, but they told you the wrong ones. You don’t need to hold any button to pet Argo. You just push square and you can do it off him to.
Only the white tailed lizards give stamina upgrades. The black tailed ones just replenish health and are more common.
#KILLER LOOKS AWESOME MARZZZ 👌
The 4th colossus used to bugle like an elk. I'm kinda sad they changed it. :(
You must be a sadist.
21:53 you are wise young padowan
I would tell myself that they were spirits Trapped inside these colossi (and the colossi aren't a thing, just a vessel or "machine")
And I am setting them Free, I don't know if it is true or not, but making me feel better while watching
they are the Animals they look like, but Trapped in these Giant Things
