    You found another source of bowenite! That is a beautiful stone! That is such a gorgeous green with little inclusions! That is gorgeous jewelry quality bowenite. Thats awesome. Im glad your friend told you about it. Its another source, close to home. That is a gorgeous stone too. Thanks for sharing! How are you and the dogs doing? I hope well. Merry Christmas Nate. And Happy Holidays to you and yours!

      im doing ok, just starting from scratch, and short days don't help, so every daylight hour is precious right now for sure, and we need the rain we've been getting ,but...wet weather makes it hard to be productive. dogs are happy I'm told, haven't got to see them since, but soon ! its been a long few weeks without them . get to see olive and them soon ! and in 7 days the light starts to grow again, frost on the porch now with bare peach trees, all the creeks running healthy slowly filling the rivers. merry Christmas !

      @@QuestForDetails Im glad you will be getting to see olive and the doggies soon! And it sounds like Mother earth is taking care of her planet and keeping things in check after the heat of summer tried to burn things out of balance. And i know that things have been tough lately especially without a vehicle. Its hard not to fall into a depression this time of year with everything you have had to deal with, but im glad you are hanging in there. Your channel is one of my favorites and its because you are one of my favorite people. Your personality has always been one of balanced health and it hurts to ever feel that the balance has shifted. So im relieved to see and hear you are doing ok. Please take care of yourself and try to have a happy holiday season.

    Try a neodymium magnet on your bownite samples. I suspect it will stick. If so, you have a new tool for the field!

      Sorry, Nate. I should have introduced myself first. My name is Frank and I live over the hill in Lake County. You've inspired me on several levels with your videos, and helped me learn and appreciate the beauty under our feet in this region. Thank you for all the effort you put into your channel.
      I have some interesting local discoveries and observations to share with you and everyone else when I get up to speed on making videos, which should be soon. Of course, I've been saying that for awhile now but my excuses are finally running out. Anyhow, I hope to meet you for real in a stream or on the lake someday. Happy questing!

    Congrats on proving a new Creek! I finally made it down from Lakeport to St. Helena Creek outside of Middletown yesterday and LOVED seeing all the volcanics!

    I've got a challenge for you. Why not try making something like a lampshade with wire and this beautiful green goodness? I'm sure you'll create a spectacular piece of art. 😎

    Nice adventure Nate. Certainly the greener ones do have that lovely Green Beryl Emerald color to them. Cool stuff, just a thought now that I can see how thin you can slice them... would it be possible to make Guitar Picks out of any of that type of material? I thought years ago that having natural rock 'picks' might go over. Anyways.. Quest On!

      @John Saucerhunter
      Having sang in a working band for several years back in, well, none of your business, and being a geology freak, it is this broads’ humble opinion that if you favour the smaller, thicker pics I would bet a shiny penny that it might just hold up. Depends on how hard a person shreds, on, I guess, any spalling in the material, things like that? And if it’s super tough rock, how quick will it wear out your strings? It would be interesting to find out!

  • @janicescragg2388

    Such a beautiful green. Makes me wonder if you sandwiched a super thin layer between clear quartz sort of like they do with opal what the results would be. I think it is called a triplet or, in the case of two layers, a doublet. Love this, especially in the winter, when everything is covered in snow up here in Alberta, Canada. I am looking forward to rockhounding and exploring a whole new area next summer. In the meantime, thank you for your videos. You are inspiring me to make a trip down to California. Maybe in winter or early spring? Lol.

    Nice find and really cool you live so close.
    Too bad you did not take a rock hammer with you. Did you ever go back and get more material? I like working with gem quality serps!
