My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2019. We received the official diagnosis as we were driving from Dallas to Tulsa to see my nephew graduate from Oral Roberts University. Since a lot of our family would be there, too, we figured it was a good time to share the bad news as we could do it in person to almost everyone all at once. We arrived on campus, figured out where the rest of the family was sitting, and waited for the ceremony to start. The worship team came out and they sang this song. The song was relatively new at that time and I had not heard it before but the lyrics hit as if God were speaking to me at that moment and the tears flowed. I didn't know if God would eventually take her home or what the future held, but I knew I knew I would always raise a hallelujah, regardless of the outcome. Thankfully, we caught the cancer very early, her surgeries and treatments were very successful, and she has been cancer-free going on four years now. Hallelujah! However, whenever I hear this song, that moment and the emotions I was feeling that weekend and in that auditorium come back and I always tear up.
We are Raising a Hallaleuja for our beloved Christopher, critical, on a ventilator fighting for his life against COVID since Sunday and the entire family are fighting COVID, very very serious: Tony, David, Matthew and my 97-year old mother Peigi (Peggy). I must admit that I disturbed the peace a bit and shouted 'Hallelujah' while singing this as this song touched my heart so much. I needed this for the week that's ahead. this is one of the best Christian albums I've heard in a long, long time. I enjoy pretty much EVERY song, ESPECIALLY "Goodness of God" (that one brought tears to my eyes for a few days), and "Peace." Goodness of God ... is my lifelong Testimony (I relate to it, all my life). Peace ... because there is a lot of pressure and darkness camping around me.
Wow I’ve heard this song soooo many times. My oldest, 3 years old, loves to sing this song. But to hear is in this way was something different. On the part where they sing, “sing a little louder” I love that they chose to keep it the same volume and didn’t raise their voices. I feel like it revealed to me that we don’t have to scream for God to hear our praises. As long as our hearts are singing it loud that’s all that counts. God sees the inside, our hearts, not the volume of our voice.
I discovered this song this morning online by the 7th Day Adventist Church, with 9 children singing, 2 tambourines, 1 violin, and one guitar. I listened, and with added lyrics it lifted my heart and spirit, and I came alive! The Holy Spirit works in mysterious ways, yet is always moving. I love this quiet version of this song.
