Super nice startup of this light fixture! That pink glow was amazing. I love it! A little word of advice. I always where clean gloves with little rubber grips to hold on to the bulb. The oil on your hands can shorten the life of the bulb. I learned this the hard way, but I do really enjoy changing light bulbs and fixtures. Thanks for sharing and you have a great rest of your week!
B means next to date code is Bath , NY where it made. Lifegaurd is one of best lamps ever esp them clear omes. They have anti-blackening agent inside the lamp. what westinghouse not realize these bulbs are lasting over 20 plus years before dimming out
When our commercial building switched over to LED heads for our parking lot, we had a case of 12 of these that I could not even give away... I ended up taking them to a hazardous waste site
The Iwasaki company of Japan ( EYE ) make a similar shape 400 Watt lamp , but , with a dark violet Woods glass outer for use in stage , nightclubs , parties ( I have one ! ) .... super powerful black light ! ( tried - n - tested ) ....... DAVE™🛑

That only applies to halogen bulb
Not so much for these MV bulbs
As main arc tube is protected.
Only quartz envelope halogen lamps where the actual lamp is exposed (so not a problem with quartz halogen lamps with an outer envelope).

That's good to know. I didn't know this. Thanks for the information!
@@Funkybulb cool! This is good to know. Thanks for the information!
um... What is the difference between normal and lifeguard electrode?
And why old mercury ones are in this shape?
Lifeguard electrodes are bigger, more heavy duty I think.
I'm not sure, maybe ellipsoidal shapes are easier to produce in a factory
@@GavinZBeatsJunior Then why they made those lamps in that odd funny shape in old days?
The shape helps support the large and long arc tube inside the lamp, the crown on top of the lamp helps support the metal framework inside the lamp

Not very often anymore.

It's like old T.V.'s.
You could not give them away, and now they are valuable because they are rare, and excel in certain applications.
I have 3 of these bulbs, I love em
