Don't know if anyone's mentioned but the dog who plays Queeny in this is the same dog who plays Precious in Silence of the Lambs. I had to pause and type this before I forgot... so I'm only 2:40 into the video. This is one of my all-time favorite movies because of nostalgia and... 'cause it's great. Can't wait to see how you guys react to it.
"I've never seen that. I've never seen somebody drive their garbage to the end of their driveway and then beat the hell out of it with a stick. I've never seen that."
This movie is a fkn classic. I hired it out the video store so many damn times as a kid. Its comfort comedy!! "There go the goddamn brownies" "YO RUMSFIIIIIIELD" "Hey man... PISS OFF"
Friend of mine lived on a cul de sac in Naperville, IL, circa 1999, that was nearly identical to this, oddballs included. We used to have band practice in the bass players house, he lived next door to my friend, the other guitar player. Crazy former military guy around the way, uptight one across the street that always complained about the noise from us. The hippie next door to him that always told him to chill out and kids all over lawns. Was absolutely hilarious.
The screaming scene pops into my head first thing when someone mentions this movie. I wonder if the "extreme close-up: scenes in Wayne's World were inspired by it. 💙
Dude this is awesome you're reacting to this movie. An all-time childhood favorite of mine. Actually watched it when I was like 6 and the neighbors scared the hell out of me 😆
There are few movies that I love as much, that are as nostalgic and influential for me, and that still work 100% like The 'burbs. This is one of the great old ones for me. Absolute classic.
Younger Tom Hanks is INCREDIBLE-his physical comedy is some of the best ever. Such films with him are WELL before 'Big'. See 'The Money Pit', or The Man With One Red Shoe', or 'Bachelor Party'.
I love that The Burbs got top rated in the patreon, must have some legends in there, this movie is underrated and not that well known but one of my personal favourites. Love that you're reacting to this, think yer gonna love it 😊😅
I'm so happy you guys reacted to this movie, it is freaking hilarious. Canadian actor Rick Ducommun that played Art was great, unfortunately he passed away in 2015.
I love this movie. If this movie was made nowadays the neighbors would have been good people and the others looking insane and prejudice for doing what they did. Love the reveal that they were right. Also Art is the best character.
@@allisterfiend_2112 Wow! This is the nichest choice of films I know of! Can't say I recommend those films, and I know Hanks himself if no fan of 'Volcano'-but I respect your bold statement.
Reuben was played by Brother Theodore, who also did the voice of Rukh in The Last Unicorn. We rented this movie in the '80s and, while we all thought it was really funny, my mom loved it, and has watched it on DVD several times, just in the last few years. Tom Hanks losing his shit, throwing the gurney into the ambulance, and climbing onto it is hilarious.
I didn't know until recently that the actor who played the character "Art" Rick Ducommun (R.I.P. 1952-2015) also played the dad in "Scary Movie" (2000).
Yea I actually looked him up on wiki one day cuz I wanted to know more about him he’s the best character n the movie and I seen he passed away I was sad actually. R.I.P.
YAY! It's about time someone react to this Comedy/Horror cult classic. Art even grabbed some of the dog's food from the dish when he was pigging out at the breakfast table - LOL. "My WIFE is Home?!" Canadian comedian Rick Ducommun played Art, who died at age 62 - and you may remember him from GROUNDHOG DAY (1993), among other films. Most don't realize he and his brother Pete were early pioneers in the Canadian skateboarding scene in the 1960s. R.I.P. Rick.
Thank you both so much for doing this film. Not only is this my favorite Hanks film, but it's also #1 of my top 5 Joe Donte films💀. I love that you always see the same actors in most of his films, especially Dick Miller and Robert Picardo (the garbage men). The part where Tom Hanks picks up the gurney, tosses it into the ambulance, and then throws himself on it was all improvised by himself! 🤣😂🤣😂
Also, when Bruce Dern rips the wallpaper, it was an accident. He was only supposed to peel it back slightly.
And he looked so exhausted that he appeared comfortable lying on the gurney.
The whole movie was pretty much improvised
SO GOOD. This is why I still love Tom the comedian.

Lol! 😂 NO! Not even close ! It has script and was MOSTLY Stuck to.
Corey Feldman's 80s movies are top class: Gremlins, The Goonies, Stand by Me, The Lost Boys and The 'Burbs.
Also License to Drive.

Tom Hanks coming out of the burning building and sliding down the front porch is one of the funniest bits of comedy acting I have ever seen😂
