one of the (many) things I'm appreciating about the podcast/your approach to study is the humility. So many leaders are more invested in maintaining an image than maintaining the truth. There are precious few that so graciously acknowledge their errors and then go back to correct previously published materials the way I see my Beloved Bema Buddies do. It's so sad that "the Church" can't be more authentic/transparent and create a safer environment for challenging ideas and topics and discussions. Also appreciate the acknowledgment of the struggle in the transition from the doctrinal checklist Western mentality/worldview to the Eastern relational/narrative perspective. Not that I'm phrasing it nearly as well as Marty does, but also not surprising since Marty has been working on both the transition and the explanation thereof for years, whereas it's only been a couple of months for me. The color commentary question that you SO graciously answered was asked in the midst of the above mentioned struggle in the transition from Western to Eastern-ish thinking/hermeneutics. Your answer was much better than my question! Love the podcast and all the related materials! Gotta confess I'm addictively binging w/ the eventual intent of going back to the beginning to really dig in once the mindset shift has settled a bit better. And I use addictively intentionally. Some serious (as opposed to frivolous) dopamine hits w/ all the insight and history and allusions. My only regret is that I found you all so late...ok 2 regrets: I won't likely ever finish deep dives into all the material covered due to current medical diagnoses. Getting decent treatment but for a terminal situation. But what a way to go...having the joy of my salvation restored to take me for however long He has allotted for me! Not dead yet and this gives me better, more usable focus for the remainder of my walk. Better late than never for such rich study material! (Be careful of praying Ps 90:12....you might get my answer). BTW. I usually binge while in dialysis...4 hours x 3 days a week You are such blessings to me, sharing the podcasts and material like this! I feel "wonderfully" greedy and can't wait to share it with others!
