I'm middle aged. I've seen things, I've don things, all my feelings have gotten more numb over the years. 100k people killed by an earthquake, 15k by carpet bombing, i don't care anymore, it's just business as usual. I should, but i don't. This song always gives me goosebumps, it reminds me, that i should care.
Neighbourhood is so freaking good, the near fragile voice of the leadsinger may turn some away, but Id say it adds a raw vulnerability to it all. Heartfelt and sincere.
There's an episode of Mad Men where Don Draper is pitching an ad campaign to Kodak executives. If you've seen it, you'll remember it's the one where Don begins to describe the idea of The Carousel which is basically a circular slide projector, a novel idea at the time, being like a time machine. He narrates as he is showing slides of his own family during happier times which never happened the way he remembered them as happens to all of us. He says the word nostalgia is a Greek word which means the pain of an old wound that has never healed. Hearing this song sends you back to a time which may or may not have ever happened. A painful time maybe but one that we want to return to anyway.
This is a great lyric video. There aren't any obnoxious text effects, just enough delay to not spoil any lyrics and allow for natural reading, a nice background effect that 100% suits the song. Love it.
You did a great job on the lyrics for this, unlike some other lyric videos out there! Thanks for doing this song, it's a bit underappreciated and I love this song. Thank you!
This song is better than a film , their words are so perfect , it s amazing , i dont want to argue with anyone but its very dificult listening to hard rock after this.

You know what. I was just thinking the same if I had to choose. It sums up arcade fire. Just beautiful sweet/bitter epic/subtle poetry. Love it.

the whole song expresses this very specific kind of sadness and the lyrics are a bit unsettling but that's exactly why i love it.
+Hawkins I feel like the word Melancholy is the type of feeling you're talking about

Every song is a work of art, love how their songs start out as one thing and by the end it's changed completely, bloody geniuses
100% !!! It tells a powerful story for sure!
There are few artists who have the ability to do that. Meatloaf is one of them. He was a genius at it.
purify the colours
purify my mind
I will always love this song. What an immense story ❤️
I literally had never read the lyrics of this song, I like it so much more now. Love the alchemy imagery.

I was born and raised in Montreal so this hits hard.
It's the instrumental outro that caps this as an epic. It's perfect! That piano... Simple. Beautiful.
Absolute masterpiece. So relevant for our times today.
3:44 this part is simply one of the most beautiful outros that I can recall

Depend where you are in Life. Some people this Song means nothing. For some, this Song means the World! Fear, Death, Love, etc, etc,..... Life!

Depend where you are in Life... To some, means nothing, to others...., it means the World!
From Peter K. - This song is about big snow invaded Toronto and killed many people including singers family...
@@JodBronson Oh dang I didn't know that. They say good times make weak men and weak men make the worst times but I say Hard times make the best music.
something about this song creeps me out and IDK why
@ms chris - Fear, Love, Death, Love, etc, etc,..... Life!
Just a pet peeve, but I hate when lyric videos have to say “[instrumental]” whenever there’s no vocals
They do that for people who have a hard time hearing.
Прелепа песма
Too much
What an awesome some
