Len Bias was the most unfortunate. He had just been drafted by the NBA champion Boston Celtics and would have been a very important part of their continued success. One bad decision ended that opportunity before it even got started. The Celtics never recovered from that tragedy. That group of players never won another title. The rival Lakers had their back to back and then Detroit did the same. After that, the Bulls dynasty took over. By that time, the Celtics core players were too old to compete and beat the more talented Bulls.
I don't think Bias was a user. He just tried it and it got him. I guess that's a lesson or us.
