Gosh, the candor is disarming. I started these videos with skepticism, but I'm hooked: the best AT vids I've seen. I love the short cutaways; whatever time they add to your editing workload, they add so much more to our experience. Thank you. I hope to catch up before Katahdin.
Ranger Maddie, at the beck, and call, telling vivid stories while hiking the Appalachian Trail. Your brain always seems to be racing way to fast, always thinking about the future, and the past. Relax my Kentucky Girl, enjoy the wilderness woods, clear your mind of all the awful thoughts, that are no good. Then one day it will be understood, that what you are doing is so good. You are a beautiful wise person beyond your years, continue on my love, and loose some of your fears. Further down the Appalachian Trail when you finish, and take off your pack, many of your inner demons will be put away, and let you get your mind back on track. My 69 year old words of wisdom from Georgia, to my Ranger girl Maddie from the great state of Kentucky. I love your AT video stories, oh so much, you bring me a ray of life to this broken down wheelchair bound old man. Hike on my dear friend, there will always be good days, bad days, and some sad days, it's just a fact of life, when you accept this, your life will be so nice. Hike on Ranger Maddie, my Kentucky Girl!!!!!!!😜🤪😛🤨😮❤💥
You have your trail legs, now you have your trail appetite! From here to Katahdin you will not believe how much you can eat and still be hungry. You're hiking very strong, doing great and it's nice to see that you still have the smile! The trail is 10% physical and 90% mental. When a mental problem comes up, no matter how small, take care of it immediately. Don't worry about hiking with people, hiking away from people and what you should do, it will work itself out. I'm glad that you found a Tramily to travel with. The A.T. is a VERY social trail. It's not like any of the other trails and it begins to feel that it is nice to have all these people around you for the comradery. The group will constantly change, hikers quit, hikers are injured, hikers slow down and some get faster. Like the trail name,..... you do look the part! LOL From here it's just a matter of doing what you've done for the past month and enjoy the trail and sites every day. BTW, your videos are killer! So entertaining and good quality. This trail will change your life forever and you will think of it every day for the rest of your life. You got this girl! Hike safe, Hike strong, Have fun! geek
My wife’s homemade soup and Dutch Oven cornbread is always a winning combination whether it’s just the two of us camping or Trail Magic for you and your tramily. Come to Asheville and we’ll fix it for you again. Interesting note: I hiked to Spring Mtn shelter two days ago and just happened to watch this video today. - Jimmy Dean
So happy you found a “Tramily” Maddie you do look like a Ranger lol But I loved Lucky too because you surely found tons of 4 leaf clovers on the SHT🍀So much trail magic!!
It is so nice to see you settled in and having a good time. Your idea of lots of shorts to stay in touch then a longer video with more weekly details is fantastic. It works well.
Sweet Ranger Maddie, I actually laughed out loud at you questioning your feelings of happiness. That is so me! You are a delightful, optimistic person. Love your daily videos and these long weekly videos. Happy trails to you!
POINTS for the sock koozy. Your positivity and perseverance continues to impress. Also, your appreciation of the connection between mental health and having some comfort is sweet. It can be easy to take it all for granted sometimes.
Can I just say how much I’m so totally enjoying your long-form videos. The info you choose to share is always interesting and insightful, and I love how you intersperse your discussion with footage of the trail… it means those who are wanting to live vicariously through your AT experience (meeee!!!) get a true sense of what it’s like. Thank you ☺️
Gorgeous scenery, thanks for the close up of wildflowers, flowing water, breathtaking landscapes. I’m glad the fellowship of the trail is solidifying. I like the way you think, but don’t overthink….embrace the suck, embrace the happy. We love you. ❤
Beautiful place. Be sure to watch your footing on rocks, wet rocks, etc. If a difficult spot don't worry about your filming, focus on being safe. That is truly a beautiful place.
I am so impressed with your A.T. videos that I decided to check out your other videos and I really liked your idea of tripping through all 48 states. I was shocked when I saw that you were in Ohiopyle. I only live 10 miles from there and worked as a raft guide for 35 years. That water slide is pretty crazy but 100K people do those slides every year and people from 3 years old to 82 years old. I then saw that you went to Erie, Pa. and I worked as a lifeguard there in Presque Isle State Park for 2 summers. Your videos are incredible! I really enjoy them and can't wait to see every state. Thank you for the effort it takes to produce them. geek
Beautiful section. Congratulations on 300 miles that's awesome! Also my husband (who is from Louisville also) started watching your AT videos with me and is starting to watch your van series now.
I don't think I've ever watched a 34 minute YT video. I get bored usually but I didn't get bored with your video. It was interesting. Congrats on 300 miles! Happy Trails! 🚶♀️👍🏻🙂
Congrats on 300 miles, Ranger! Still really following enjoying your journey and seeing all the spring flowers, and glad you're enjoying life on the trail.
The other day you mentioned seeing a plant that looked like an umbrella. I believe that is a Mayapple. It certainly is coming out now in vast numbers. Some of the plant will bloom and produces what looks like a green apple. It can be seen by lifting the umbrella part of the plant. Edible or not I do not know.
I am just jellz bellz about how much I want to be you right now. Hoping to do the trail myself one day and am vicariously living through you this season. Your attitude gets me through some of the regular days out here. Happy trails
I'm so glad I found your channel tonight! I had been watching another AT hiker but it seems to have turned into the complaining Channel LOL. Your outlook and philosophy are so cheerful. You definitely have a new subscriber. Thank you for taking the time to post your experiences.
Sending you BIG LOVE! I appreciate your videos so much! I love "traveling with" you! My son and his partner are on the AT now, maybe about a week behind you. They just enjoyed pizza in Gatlinburg. Happy trails!
R A N G E R 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Love it Maddy. It suits you Wish I could send you some liquid IV. I hear good things about it. Awesome shoes I have the same ones 😉 Love that you are sharing this journey with us. Thanks Ranger 😊 ❤
Spring weather changes from week to week. So does Fall. The temperature differences between lowlands and highlands, dry vs post-wet days, can mean warm one day and cold the next night. One night's baselayer is another night's pillow. Safe journeys. 😊
I will be watching till you finish the trail for sure, I'm already wondering what your next adventure will be after the trail ..enjoying the videos, looking forward to the next one. take care and be safe.
Another great video Maddie! I love your photography and all of your descriptions of each day. Keep going and looking forward to next weeks video! Also, love your daily videos. This has been so much fun to watch.
Hi Maddie! I absolutely love all the rock formations! Also, how the rock's are paths is awesome!! Congratulations on reaching another mile marker, that's crazy how many miles you have walked 😮❤! ❤🎉🔥
Thanks 😊👍, so glad for all of the fun times this week, great trail magic ✨✨✨😁, keep on keeping on 👍, you can always do the capitals of the states while hiking 🥾😊😊🥾
I absolutely love your videos and i absolutely love your stories and the views you capture. But where are the views at. Because i would love to know where they so i could find them myself. And hike them. ❤ 😅😅 big butt 🤣🤣 when you said that i about fell over 😅. Wow!! Big bald is absolutely beautiful i got to get out there and check that place out very soon. !!! 🤯🥹
1:35 THAT'S SO MANY TRILLIUMS! Wow. Where was that? We don't have them like that in the northeast. I'm still at the beginning of the video. For food choices what about Nutella in place of the peanut butter? Is coconut butter a thing? When I was a kid, we used to use medical diabetic glucose syrup tubes as an energy supplement while mountain biking. 50 grams of cherry flavored, nearly pure glucose straight to the dome wax an incredible pick-up. Probably not a good thing for lasting energy, but you reminded me of it.
I think a good name for you would be THINKER…you think about and share so many things while you hike…and i love to hear all the things you think about and observe along the way…or if there is a better word/name for what I’m trying to say
