It's crazy to me how an average song on the radio gets so much more recognition than hip hop tracks like this. This is what it's about. I think people forgot music was art at some point.
I just got chills seeing this knowing you’re a blader after seeing you in braille videos, bladers seem to have really similar lives. Did you happen to find this song in a blading edit? I know it’s used in a popular Chris Farmer old school edit but apparently it was posted only 11 years ago, and I have a comment on it from 7 years ago too, so I think that’s where I found the song. Then I started listening to slug and other artists I found in blading edits.
Atmosphere is a rap group which Slug is a part of. Unknown prophets is another rap group that Slug and other members of Rhymesayers support who have become big.
LOVE this. Wish this was the sort of thing we heard on the radio. I guess there's a reason songs like this are like diamonds...they're surrounded by so much bullshit that when you find them you feel like you won the lottery.
iv been skating for a damn long time hell its my job I work at a skate park im not from the uk i can see most people here know this song from vg19 awesome video
Cherish this stage of his evolution as a Rymesayer. I personally think that Slug’s style in his current phase is dope!!! Slug and the whole Rymesayer’s label is and will always be dope to my ears
y cant music b like this nowa days its inspirein tru hip-hop like this that helps people thru life. its all business and money nowa days, money fucks up 2 much shit...
Im from 204 winnipeg north of minneapolis ! i visted minneapolis a few times nice city. i just didnt know the hip hop scene searched up found these guys YOU GUYS PUT A GOOD NAME FOR HIP HOP ON YOUR CITY ... much love respect pce
Love the clip from Rudy at the beginning, love the hook, love the real lyrics, the real flow, and the mellow nylon guitar over the top of it all. Most of all, I love slug. Number one best rapper on my list. Combine this song with God's Bathroom Floor and you have to of the best lyrical songs I've ever heard.
i first heard this in a rollerblading video called VG 19. I wondered where this group was based out of but i guess it makes sense now since the guys section the music was used for was from Minnesota as well.
it's from the movie Rudy. It's the black handyman that works in Notre Dame's stadium giving a speech to Rudy after he decided to quit. "...And you hung in there with the best college football players in the land for 2 years. And you're gonna walk outta here with a degree from the University of Notre Dame. In this life, you don't have to prove nothin' to nobody but yourself. And after what you've gone through, if you haven't done that by now, it ain't gonna never happen. Now go on back."
To underrated... I was actually excited finding this album in a hip-hop store used in like early 2000s.... Back then was tough to download and even buy this shit online! This track would of been sick as well without atmosphere....
this is some of the realest music i've heard, but then, what else can you expect from slug, and anyone he hops on a track wit. this is the irst track ive heard from unknown prophets though. they're hella real too. bout to listen to some more of their songs. hope they're consistant.
When i speak you hear an entheology, time, space, and a realm of energy, i'll stand in my cycle and knock you down, telling about the lost and still un-found,faster than the speed of sound, certain creations beyond the thought itself, enter the plane of all the lost, and understand what time has tossed, like the pages of a book, as you read you start to look, am i the one that just got took... ,.Props to The Slug...
real talk homie sometimes listening to the sad music helps the water flow y'know. you sound like an intellectual guy i hope life offers you nothing but the best. PosiDestiny
@dman51590 no man, it's okay that we stay underground, if we end up on the radio we become mainstream. We are the privileged ones who know where the real music is at, in the Underground.
some of there stuff is available on file sharing networks like limewire, why dont you try buying their stuff on iTunes. iTunes has almost all their work
Slug is so unique that I am sure he inspires everybody around him... Of cause these cats got mad talent and are an awesome group without slug, just saying some combos shine, and slug always shine...
been listenin to this song for 4 er 5 years now and still bump it everyday, mad love for minneapolis and everyone in it even common folk, yall produce the best hip hop, mad love 1~
shut the fu*k up. Do you really think Big Jess and the prophets care if I give them a little publicity on youtube? They just want people to hear their music one way or another, if they make money, then great, but they make music because they have a passion for it, and want others to hear the masterpieces they lay down.
Yea. Slug and Jess have a little bit of beef now between them because Slug remarked on the fact that Big Jess quit because he has a family, and he just couldnt handle it. I'm not sure of the details it's in Big Jess' new song My Night
@acaash I honestly have no problem with the underground or atmosphere or rhymesayers. I don't care for the music but they do what they do and have found success. I respect that they have found a way around the 9 to 5 life many of us have despite what we listen to. My problem is with the majority of their fanbase. Many of them are just as immature as I have made myself to be. People should just like what they like and not care what others think.
look people, lilweezy is a troll. look at his page, he's got several atmosphere videos UPLOADED. he claims that it's because he liked slug at first and bla bla bla, he WANTS you to get mad. I fell for it too, but just enjoy the music
yo anyone playing this in 2024
It's crazy to me how an average song on the radio gets so much more recognition than hip hop tracks like this.

Cool song and video.
