Crazy how I’m 38 years old and still love pulling out my X-men card binders that I’ve had since childhood. I wish I would have put more thought into completing sets when I was a kid, but I didn’t know much about collecting and completing sets, value and all. I still remember the sound and feeling of opening new packs and even the smell of new cards. Nostalgic for sure. Great vid, my dude and thanks for taking me back to simpler times.
Damn! I remember going to a card store and seeing the Marvel Masterpiece back in '92 and feel in love with the artwork. I bought boxes to complete the set, but my nephew got a hold of it and yeah.... got demolished. 😭😭😭
Love this! I had these in a binder & took them everywhere with me as a kid. Left them in my back pack at a boys & girls club & came back & someone stole them. Broke my heart as a kid. I would still have them till this day if that didn’t happen. Thanks for sharing brings back memories.
1998 a kid sold me an entire album of 94's on Marvel cards, I kept them for my kids , they became hook on them bought lots of them , kept them in plastic , I still have them , pretty sure i have double sets . Now my kids are abroad serving , the album , and cards are still in my safe .
Good score. 1996 was a turning point for Marvel with the bankruptcy. Many of the heroes who had their own titles wouldn’t be seen much for a few years. I got a lot of nostalgic feels looking at these with you, man. Thank you for sharing.
Hey gem,I use to collect marvel trading cards in the 90s but over the years lost them due to moving constantly.however seeing the trade card collection brought back memories to me and I really enjoyed and appreciated it.
You could frame the double impact cards in a shadow box style frame with a mirror back to show the art on the back. Do a nice marvel logo on it to set it off , that will allow you to frame , display , and see both sides of the cards and not have to buy two sets.
The cards from the Hildebrandt Brothers are amazing too. In my home town some guys picked only the female characters, so it was pretty hard to get these cards, Psylocke and Rogue, were the hardest ones (today we have internet and everything is happiness). Vallejo and Julie also created some of the art for the cards of Cybernary, some of them were also very appreciated for the collectors in the 90s. Besides Eternal Champions, Boris Vallejo also painted the art cover for Golden Axe II for Sega Genesis.
Very cool set but 93 was my favorite! Also the older ones w/ purple embroidery were cool! Even the wrestling cards and batman cards were awesome! Miss the best days ever! The Superman cards from the 90s were awesome too
I collected a lot of comic book cards when I was younger, but Marvel Masterpiece was always my favorite. I had most of this set. Beast is by far my favorite.
Man you always coming with that heat Gem! These are a blast from the past and hit the nostalgia factor big time! Thanks for the great content always. Keep it up!
Love your videos Gem! They really bring back my childhood memories. Slight correction though...the 94 masterpiece set were done by the Hildebrandt bros. So a consistent set as well.
damn! $800 thats commitment. Boris and julies art is iconic. its def a gem to have this set in your collection. Im still missing the checklist, portraits, and 5/6 double impacts.
This is awesome! Just the other day I was cleaning and found an entire binder of Marvel Masterpiece cards from my childhood in mint condition. I must have 200 cards from 92-96.
If only I had stopped collecting marvel cards one year sooner while transitioning into mtg. Still have my 94' marvel masterpiece set which was my last collected before getting into mtg during 4th/ice age
Awesome set bro, i have the 92 set too and always wondered why it was never worth that much money, over production killed a lot of collectibles in the 90's! My favorite two cards from the 92 set are Spider-man and Hulk
I really liked collecting 95' Fleer Ultra Spider-Man trading cards. Still own em' n in a binder like that. Kinda wished it Marvel Vs. DC still was a thing.
I still love the old 90's X-men set, series 1. All Jim Lee art. For the $500 double cards get a double sided frame and rig some sort of sliding rack so you can flip it while wall-mounted.
I still have my complete first and second series in albums put away from when I was a kid. I absolutely love the Masterpieces series, and the first was my favorite.
I bought a complete jim lee card set for $110 at the time. Still have it & still great after all this time despite how they have changed. Loved the marvel master peice series.
Joe Jusko Marvel Masterpieces are timeless and so special to a lot of us. Always brings me back to when I was kid. I mean the smell alone of the 1992 set just brings it all back.
wow... I remember collecting this set. crazy how much is cost, never knew. I have the full base set, and the full golden frame set. Also 4 of the double impact ones. I remember searching ebay some years ago to try and complete my double impact. Just didn't feel like spending that much.
I had no idea this was worth so much. I have all these plus Marvel Comic Card Series 1, 2, 3 & 4 (1990-93) in great condition. The bad news is that the Master Piece set isn't complete. It's missing a couple cards. Guess I'm on a mission now to find those cards, buy them & complete the set.
Just saw your 92 framed and subbed. 2 mins ago. This is only set I didn’t complete (to include 2000’s). I stopped in 94-95ish. Soon as I got my license. Faves: 92>96>95>94>93 Current project 2023 : 96 MM
I recently dug out my boxed marvel cards. Have a few full sets of marvel universe series 199x and masterpieces '92. Sadly stopped collecting around 1994. I bought a pack of ultra-pro pages to insert the cards and look through them once again... Nice memories
I thought 1991 and 1992 was the best art work in the masterpiece sets. I have the first two sets and only half of the 1996 soon I'll have it all lol good video brother brings back memories.
Nice set. Now I have to go look and see if I have that set. I was buying mostly shrink wrapped boxes of cards back then and just putting them away without opening them..
Very nice collection! I still have some from back in the day. BTW, when you comment about the anatomy on some of the cards, let me tell you that Vallejo always uses pictures for reference, many times of his and Julie Bell's bodies, as they are/were both bodybuilders. :)
Different set than this, but my friend pulled an un-numbered Weapon X card when we were cracking packs from this era and I haven’t ever stopped coveting it. Loved this set too.
Damn thats sick, I swear I have this set somewhere in my garage, its midnight and Im gonna have to run and get my binder. I did find a box full of cards that are not in binders nor sleeves. Bunch of masterpieces and gold foiled signature ones. I iwll have to do something with them on my channel. Great video as always my guy.
nice addition! Im with you, 92 and 96 are amazing sets with consistent art. I picked up the 96MM for $24 over 20 years ago and its crazy how much they can go for. But they are worth it.
Very nice set of cards, I am envious. It’s funny that my favourite set is the 1996 Fleer Ultra X-Men: Wolverine set. This set was made into a comic, Wolverine 102.5 which I own graded 9.6 unsigned and raw (NM) signed comic. Funny thing, the comic cover is based on the Wolverine in 1996 Marvel Masterpieces card (No 93). I also have the promo vinyl ‘poster’ for the 1996 Fleer Ultra X-Men: Wolverine set called the Evolution of Wolverine which fits 12 cards framed on my wall.
Nice pickup! Maybe as a display idea- is to get a custom glass/plexiglas frame so that you can flip the display when you want to see the back? Keep it up Gem!
Damn this brings me back to childhood for real. I ended up giving away some of these cards to kids in my neighbood who couldn't afford them. thanks for sharing Gem! ✌️
Now this brings back memories. I was into sports trading cards and a comic fan so these were a natural transition for me. Even had the marvel ones where they were putting the characters into Halloween costumes. Lol I was a mark and proud.
You going old school with this one! I think I was one of the only kids who would buy these from my local comic shop. The art is amazing on the MM 96's but I gotta go with the 95's as my favorite, and that's probably due to, from what I remember, the MM 95 set coming out at the height of the comic card collecting game. Looking forward to seeing what this looks like framed!
I picked up at a local flea market 2 Impel factory sealed in box Jim Lee X-men trading cards (1 box with Wolverine, the other with Magneto) if and when i have the time, I wanted to look into a double-sided frame for these cards, so I can appreciate both sides. Loved these 90s trading cards.
After watching this video, I thought I had these cards unopened random packs and still sealed within the box. What I actually have is the 94 Flair Presents The Marvel Universe 1961-1995 Inaugural edition. I paid $103.55 for the unopened box from Kmart back in 94. I have been very tempted to open it up.
Gem, I had this whole set. They were going for 20 bucks 10 years ago lol. Don't even get me started on all the Overpower cards from later series I sold...
Crazy how I’m 38 years old and still love pulling out my X-men card binders that I’ve had since childhood. I wish I would have put more thought into completing sets when I was a kid, but I didn’t know much about collecting and completing sets, value and all. i had this set as kids. we destroyed them cuz we threw our cards around like we were gambit.
Awesome
worth it
Also did this
This is both funny and sad at the same time.
Damn You Gambo
The first Marvel Masterpieces always hold a special place in my heart.
same
Same
Me too!!!!
Do you think they will go up in price? The 1994 edition Holo foil is pretty cool, been looking at them.
i actually still have those in my binder right now.
Damn! I remember going to a card store and seeing the Marvel Masterpiece back in '92 and feel in love with the artwork. I bought boxes to complete the set, but my nephew got a hold of it and yeah.... got demolished. 😭😭😭
Hopefully he got demolished in return 😄
Love this! I had these in a binder & took them everywhere with me as a kid. Left them in my back pack at a boys & girls club & came back & someone stole them. Broke my heart as a kid. I would still have them till this day if that didn’t happen. Thanks for sharing brings back memories.
In Carlsbad?
I saw who did it, it was a Latino kid.
1994 is completely painted by Greg & Tim Hildebrant, even the bonus cards! Gotta love Boris and Julie - thanks for sharing this.
This take me back to the golden days of collecting. I love the Masterpiece Collections. Thanks!
When I was a kid I was starting to collect this set as well, but once Jordan came back, RIP to the marvel sets.
Dude that was me! 🤣 I saved all my lunch money and when he came back I said bye to marvel lol
Man this just brought back a TON of memories for me collecting these sets in the '90s. Now I want to collect them all over again!
Dave C Same...let me know, Dave! We can trade duplicates old-school. 👍
This is so awesome. I used to collect comic cards when I was little. I haven't seen them in years!! I love this so much.
Those are some killer cards. When you covered the '92 set I picked up three boxes of the 2003 TMNT cards on ebay.
1998 a kid sold me an entire album of 94's on Marvel cards, I kept them for my kids , they became hook on them bought lots of them , kept them in plastic , I still have them , pretty sure i have double sets . Now my kids are abroad serving , the album , and cards are still in my safe .

Impeccable timing on the video I just dug out my marvel masterpieces 94' and 95 marvel flair.
I love trading cards, a sealed box of those goes for like $1000 if you can find one
You could frame the double impact cards in a shadow box style frame with a mirror back to show the art on the back. Do a nice marvel logo on it to set it off , that will allow you to frame , display , and see both sides of the cards and not have to buy two sets.
Would there be a way to setup the mirrors to where you're not looking at a reverse image? This sounds quite interesting.
The cards from the Hildebrandt Brothers are amazing too. In my home town some guys picked only the female characters, so it was pretty hard to get these cards, Psylocke and Rogue, were the hardest ones (today we have internet and everything is happiness). 1994 fleer ultra x-men was my favorite loved the variety of art work on does .
Very cool set but 93 was my favorite! Also the older ones w/ purple embroidery were cool! Even the wrestling cards and batman cards were awesome! Miss the best days ever! The Superman cards from the 90s were awesome too
3 best card art imo: wolverine in sewer, psylocke from double impact, and ghost rider card
I collected a lot of comic book cards when I was younger, but Marvel Masterpiece was always my favorite. I had most of this set. Beast is by far my favorite.
I literally just pulled this entire set out of a recycling bin
Worth at least 3× more today haha
This is one of my favorite sets
My favorite was the 1994 Fleer Ultra X-Men base set.. This was my first time seeing this set though.
I still have those. I like the 94 Flairs as well. So much pop in the color
That set looks nice , I think the card set by the Hildebrandt brothers was far better!
I agree the hildabrant set was dope
I miss my Marvel Masterpiece. I stole and traded for that set. Came home after basic training. What cards? What comic books?
Killer set. Man, brought me back.
Man you always coming with that heat Gem! These are a blast from the past and hit the nostalgia factor big time! Thanks for the great content always. Keep it up!

My favorite set. Glad you made a video on it and got them.
So happy to see some cards on the channel
"Most sought-after TCGs from the 90s are worthless"
*laughs in Magic*
If only I had stopped collecting marvel cards one year sooner while transitioning into mtg.
Still have my 94' marvel masterpiece set which was my last collected before getting into mtg during 4th/ice age
Awesome set bro, i have the 92 set too and always wondered why it was never worth that much money, over production killed a lot of collectibles in the 90's! My favorite two cards from the 92 set are Spider-man and Hulk

Beautiful set! Going to look killer framed with your other set. Look forward to seeing them side by side when you get it finished.
I had so many of these cards growing up. Thanks for sharing
wow... I remember collecting this set. crazy how much is cost, never knew. I have the full base set, and the full golden frame set. Also 4 of the double impact ones. I remember searching ebay some years ago to try and complete my double impact. Just didn't feel like spending that much.
Can’t wait to see this framed! Such a sick purchase and worth every penny 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Definitely like the 92 set better. Growing up I had almost every set. Still love series 1, 2, and 3.
I never knew they came out with that set. I have the 92 set which were awesome!!! Man I wish they brought this series back.
Loved this set as a kid and still do at 45. Classic stuff man!
I miss collecting trading cards, had everything from Marvel to Star Wars, to the 1989 Batman, I even had Horror movie cards...
Love the artwork. Thanks, Gem Mint.
The 92 set is the best but I never even knew this even existed super dope
FYI the 1994 set is paint by 2 brothers with the same style.
The Hildebrandts. I have this set. It's great.
collected all of the marvel card sets in the 90"s.....got them all binded up too .
Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman with red hair & b/w suit. Cool set thanks for sharing.
I remember seeing these cards when I was young. Such great artwork. Miss these times. Congrats on getting this set.

I recently dug out my boxed marvel cards. Have a few full sets of marvel universe series 199x and masterpieces '92. Sadly stopped collecting around 1994. I bought a pack of ultra-pro pages to insert the cards and look through them once again... Nice memories
Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell are amazing artists!!! Nice bro! 🔥🔥🔥
This is such a dope set of cards 👀 Great Artwork!

I used to collect theses card like crazy ! Beautiful artwork
I didnt know these existed! Thank u for making a video on it.
Very cool!!! Still love Marvel Masterpieces, I pick these up whenever I find them!!!
Yes!! 1992 MM by Joe Jusko is my all time favorite! I literally subscribed just because u said that 😂
i have that set framed too
Nice set. Now I have to go look and see if I have that set. I was buying mostly shrink wrapped boxes of cards back then and just putting them away without opening them..

"I thought trading cards from the 90s weren't worth anything." Yep. Sounds like my thinking. Thank you for the enlightening video.
That sad feeling when you realize you had this complete set when you were a kid and now you have no idea where it went.....
I got the complete 94 set. The artwork is all over the place but i love it.
''that outfit is painted on" LOL
I mean he's not wrong.
LOL, that's pretty much why I passed on MM96 even back when it was just $200 for the base set. I thought all the art looked so cheesy.
I'm sure it may have already been posted but actually the 94' Masterpiece set had a dedicated artist base, the Hildebrandt bros, Greg and Tim
yea but its still multiple artists...where as 92 was just Jusko and 96 just Boris & Julie
Ah this brings back some awesome memories!

Damn brother! I'm def jelly! Congrats!!
Boris is one of my favorite fantasy artists...had no idea he was married to Julie Bell tho! Awesome video review 😎👍
Bro those are so bad ass cards, im still working on my 95 set. Good luck to you on those double sided set.
Congrats on getting the set, man!!! Some great looking cards there
Nice pickup! Maybe as a display idea- is to get a custom glass/plexiglas frame so that you can flip the display when you want to see the back? Keep it up Gem!
I like Boris' work as well, he did alot of Sci-fi paperback covers!
Yooooo skrilla!!!! It’s alejandro! I used cut you up at the final cut in Deerfield a few years back!!!
1994 Marvel Flair Set was my favorite.
Seeing this today reminded me I have the entire collection....thanks for the payday
Nice Boris is one of my favorite artists as well as Alex Ross which I believe he also has a marvel card set.
i dont thin alex ross does...if he does, i need it asap lol
Look up Alex Ross - kingdom come trading card set. Thank me later lol
Had this set as a kid, makes me wonder what the hell happened to most of my childhood collection now. I’d love to have some of these on a t shirt.
I had these masterpieces back in 1993 ...that's an amazing set. Can't wait to receive my wolverine from then till now set.
Really enjoyed this I also collect cards it's what got me intro comics as well more of these card videos would be sick🙏✊✊✊🙋♂️
You the man Gem I love those 90’s marvel cards the art was just mind blowing
1994 Marvel Masterpieces was painted by the Hildebrandt brothers exclusively. It's a beautiful set, in my top 3 favourites
Actually have an opportunity to interview one of the brothers
You going old school with this one! I think I was one of the only kids who would buy these from my local comic shop. After watching this video, I thought I had these cards unopened random packs and still sealed within the box. Gem, I had this whole set. They were going for 20 bucks 10 years ago lol. Don't even get me started on all the Overpower cards from later series I sold...
How can you criticize any of that artwork, these cards are impeccabley done, worthy of the masterpiece title
Love this!! Yo this takes me back to my chilhood... the hunt is on once again..another black hole..thanks bro..lol keep this nostalgia coming..
lol...i keep doing it to myself too
