Love the choice of pattern and velvet for the bridesmaid dresses. It looks like something that will look good on all different body types.

Very excited about your wedding. Re the Shay dress I'd recommend a toile just for fitting the bodice.😊😊😊

Amazing plans, Jess! The pattern you've chosen for your bridesmaids looks very similar to a Vogue pattern I made last year and I was really impressed with the fit, hardly had to make any adjustments so fingers crossed you'll have a similar experience. Assorted colour velvet sounds so luxe. Excited to see you trying on 'silly' wedding dresses 😂 now you've got me feeling like I should make my own Make Nine...

Thank you Yvette! Oooh that's good to know, fingers firmly crossed! Yeah in November I will release the whooole wedding dress process and there will be lots of silliness 😂

Happy New Year! Adore the design you’ve chosen for your bridesmaids. I can see that looking beautiful 😊 It was interesting to hear about your Make Nine as well. You’re the first person I have heard who has said you’ve got to expect to not complete it all! That’s relieved a lot of (self imposed) pressure for me, thank you!

Thank you for watching! ☺️ I think for me any way its the healthiest way to view the challenge, its a fun goal but its not compulsory! I'm glad I could help 😊

We can't wait to see your wedding dress. We are thinking about refashioning our wedding dresses this year so we can get some use out of them. If we do we will definitely vlog about it 😍

So many exciting things are in store for you this year! I'm so happy you've decided to give the Dawn jeans another go. And the wedding plans sound so great - I got married in 2001 and we had to organise a minimum of 12 months ahead. I wanted to make at least the flower girl dress but I did all the bodice embroidery on it instead and my mum took over (she basically took the wedding reins🙄). I went wedding dress shopping and was ready to sign off on this absolutely beautiful dress but again my mother had already told her seamstress friend she can make the wedding dress! So we compromised and I designed what I wanted, taking elements from all the dresses I loved to create my own and it turned out great. I chose the colour for the bridesmaids and they had a hand in the design of the style. I did want them all to love their dresses. We got married in a church and I made pew decorations in the same colours as the flower girl embroidery. My mil did the church flowers and bouquets and buttonholes plus the wedding cake and grooms cake (which is now a tradition we've started in our extended family as is the unity candle). My husband's cousin piped me in (a nod to my Scottish heritage) and thankfully his kilt was red so it all tied in. My hubby refused to wear a kilt so we went suit shopping and they all had waistcoats and ties etc and looked fabulous. Where you can, while it seems like cutting corners, having friends and family members with skills and talents like photography and cake and flower making really helps to keep the cost down. Our friend Michael (who is now Michelle) did the video for us and that was their gift to us which we were thrilled with. It's going to be a very exciting and busy year but it will be a great start to your married life and the best year yet xx

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your story ☺️ I think our wedding will end up being quite similar, my parents are doing our cake, a friend is our photographer, and we are still working out the other details - but I'm SO excited!

I'm very excited for you! My proudest accomplishment was making my son's wedding suit. Here's some surprises I wasn't expecting, you might also experience! After 40+ years of sewing, I wasn't afraid of a good challenge and as mom of the groom felt left out of planning or "help" so I volunteered strongly to make my sons suit :) He was into it because I make a lot of clothes for him anyway. He chose a "Mr.Darcy" period affair and I thought, how hard could it be? Oh boy, there's a big difference between sewing clothes and tailoring suits so that's a heads up for you. Depending on the dress style you choose, there may be a lot of couture techniques you haven't tried yet and hand sewing that is required is rewarding but time consuming. The suit jacket had 12-16 pieces for the lining and the same for outside! He's 6'1" so cutting these out took several hours and all the folding tables in my life. I did a couple muslins for fitting, hunted up beautiful wool that I could afford then ran into trouble and cried on Insta where the community came and saved me. Telling me why things were floppy, how to fix it, where to look at online classes for the tailoring technique that helped me not only finish but make it look so professional. So don't overlook the possible help of the community if you're having trouble. WE won't tell what your dress is! When his wife cried at a fitting, I knew I was on track. I encourage you to sew it yourself! It will be what you dream it it, my only caution is it took me every bit of a full year and the last month was so much sewing as there was hand sewing involved that can't be avoided in couture. So start right away. Things took me much longer that I ever could imagine. Maybe you haven't worked with the types of fabric you're choosing so buy extra or know that it is something they always carry in case you need yards more. I bought stock yardage of wool they carry always. Best wishes!
Part two is I am retired and don't want to look frumpy either. I wear a ton of skirts with sweaters and yes, throw on boots to run out and look together. Still really comfy but looks better than sweats. I changed to over the knee thick cable knit socks with my winter dresses and skirts because they are less fussy to put on or use the ladies during the day. Plus they don't run. Your ballet sweater will be great with dresses or skirts and look put together. I find I feel more energetic when I get up and get "ready". Who knows what the day will bring so look like you're ready to meet it head on! Enjoy your wonderful new year!

Obviously I’m not privy to your wedding dress/occasion vibes so I might be way off the mark, but the Shay dress is definitely saying bridesmaid dress to me
