Nice. I really need to get into midges more. I always tie a bunch in the winter because I think I'm going to use them in the spring...but I never do.

Very helpful presentation by Dick Rohrbaugh--especially the fishing/casting tips toward the end. Some comments: A friend of mine likes to fish the Madison below $3 Bridge early in the morning in July. He uses size 22 or 24 midge dries and does well. I use similar size midge nymphs and catch fish regularly in the same area. So mornings can also be productive for midges during Summer. As for the flies presented in this video, the Tiemco 5212 only goes down to size 14, which is great for demonstrating tying these flies, but seems too big for midges on the Madison. What about using the Ahrex FW510 Curved Dry Fly hook? It goes down to size 18. Another one is the TMC 201R, which goes down to size 22 and Umpqua claims can be used for nymphs AND dries.
Fly Fish Food has a video on No See Um where the hackle isn't trimmed below the shank. Instead, the barbs are pulled above the shank and are locked in place with thread.

I do pretty good with a Griffiths gnat in SW Colorado. I'm not sure they eat it for a midge cluster though. I always kinda thought they were mistaking it for like a standard house fly, but who knows
