- The leader of Thailand's pro-reform party, which won the most seats in May's election, has been blocked from taking power by a parliamentary vote that includes military-appointed senators.

Pita Limjaroenrat, leader of Move Forward, a progressive party that has a strong youth support base, won the most votes and seats in May's election. But Thailand's election rules, rewritten after a military coup in 2014, required him to have majority support from parliament to become prime minister. After failing to gain a majority of the 749-member parliament, Pita said that he accepted the results but added: 'I'm not going to give up'.
Move Forward supporters gathered in the capital of Bangkok to express their anger over the result, holding signs reading: 'Respect my vote'. The progressive party had campaigned on the promise of major reforms, including breaking up monopolies, ending military conscription, removing the military’s influence from politics and amending a strict law that forbids criticism of the monarchy.

Pita is a very smart man. And Thailand parliament is still old fashion who stopping Pita from making Thailand change in to the future. I feel really bad for Thailand people for wanting change but they say no, we do it our way since day one. Which refer to military power run and royal status.
Not smart enough to declare businesses. There was a trail left by Thanathorn as not what to do previously
He was silly
@@underworldringsideThanathorn is more smart than Pita
The military and Royalty in Thailand are despicable. Such a wonderful Country with such wonderful people should be free and democratic. Too many of these South Eastern countries, especially Myanmar are gripped by military corruption. Let's hope that the people of Thailand can prevail over these military crooks.
Dream on😂😂😂😂
The King will never allow
You want Thailand to be the same as your country ? Democratic corruption?
@@captureitlive Democracy vs dictatorship hmm...
@MarcusKuann unfortunately those aren't the only options. But Thailands system is directly linked to their base culture. Try to think "outside the box"
Pita Limjaroenrat for Thailand’s 30th Prime Minister! 🧡🧡🧡
As an old man, enough of old school foolish rule. Time for major change in Thailand for the younger generation to be in contol of their future.
Thai elites, military and monarchy should respect thai common people choice. More power to common people.
Could you turn on the translating function please? Best greetings from Salzburg (Austria)!
Please use People power esp.your young generations to overthrow the conservative .
Have a bright future PITA ❤ !

The junta and their allies are playing with 🔥
Wow 😢
The issue always never end, what's the point of election??? Bangkok government needs to listen to the people, especially the younger voters whom are educated and knows what they want for their future.
Dont give up Thailand 🇹🇭
This is a recipe for big trouble in Thailand.
Who is the current Prime Minister and what about the dirt bag King?
Their Parliament consist of 500 seats...winning 151 seats (less than 1/3) doesnt not meant MFP party can appoint their member as the next PM. It has to be a Coalition govt. NO Country should choose thier PM based on popularity. It should be on the competence to lead the country for the better future.
They are not blocked from power but they blocked themselves 😂😂😂
Power mad military. Regime block Pita Lim fr being PM King. Intervention is necessary Best Wishes for people of Thailand n its Nation Thalland fr neighbour July 2023
Have to have a revolution then, no choice
The Great America will supply the arms.
Senate state should give power back to the people's of democracy 🧡🧡🧡
He's a US stooge
You are china bots
Smart man
Very unclear what is wrong, there's no substance.
The Orange party and another party won the last election in a landslide. The orange party candidate, Pita, is the leader of the Orange party. The two major opposition parties formed a coalition in the House of Representatives, but unfortunately the military Junta made it so they have automatic and nearly full control over the Senate which needs to vote for PM also. Despite an overwhelming majority in the popular vote and a clear election win, the government is not giving up its power easily. Hence the protests. I hope that helps.
@@FlatulentWhaleAs a Thai, I can confirm your statement is partially correct. The only things wrong are that it’s called Kow Klai in romaniaed thai (or Move Forward when translated) and the military junta appoints the senate, not just automatic control. But most of the senators actually abstained, which counts as a no.
@@parinuser yes, the military appointed the senate. Which means the senators have never been chosen by the people. Hence, no true democracy in thailand..
MR PITA 💪🏻❤
Haters gon' hate. Be proud of your accomplishments!

Phew im in a plane leaving Bangkok as we speak.
Thailand should be left to sort its own politics out ITSELF, rather than let foreign financed interests try and manipulate it.
How? There’re so many corrupt people, what should we do? They have so much power but we don't.
🤣🤣🤣
I remembered few years ago, the yellow shirt supporters takeover the main Bangkok airport and all the tourist need to travel by bus and train to Malaysia to return to their countries 😬
Junta better
They don’t listen because you’re not free……nothing will change until heads roll down the street😊
