An Unforgettable Start To The Mae Hong Son Motorbike Tour

- I have been dreaming of this day for over 3 years. Today I start on the Mae Hong Son Motorbike tour in Thailand. I plan to spend 7-10 days on the Mae Hong Son loop in Northern Thailand. I decided to do the loop going clockwise from Chiang Mai, so my first stop on day 1 is Doi Inthanon. This is the highest mountain in Thailand. I had a great (but slow) ride to the top on my Honda ADV 160 motorbike. The ride down was MUCH more exhilirating. Found some good food and a wonderful little Farm stay resort to spend the night. This was an unforgettable start to the Mae Hong Son Motorbike Tour. Watch the rest of the tour!

I really want to do this MHS Loop! It’s a tough ride and are there plenty of places etc in case of any mechanical or tyre failures for assistance Serg?
0:53 Sat Nov 11th, 2023 Good Morning Serg From Gilbert Arizona USA. You are on an amazing trip. The views are amazing. Even with the fog. The shrine is so beautiful. Wow the lunch was yummy. Getting lost is part of the fun. The view at the hotel is crazy beautiful. That little town is so cute. The temple is really beautiful. Well it looks like you achieved what you wanted. Complete relaxation with a view. And good food. Continue with your adventures and keep us posted. Healthy Blessings as always 21:08
I’m glad you enjoyed all of these things in the video, because I absolutely love them. I have two more videos I have already recorded that I still need to edit, and at least four or five more videos that I need to shoot for the series. Happy Veterans Day!
In Thailand you can travel anywhere there are roads. Traveling in Thailand by motorcycle was something that Americans liked to do 20-30 years ago. Back then, I often saw expats from America riding bikes in groups of 2-5 You will have many amazing experiences on this trip.
❤🙏
You are correct, and I’ve met so many groups of people on motor bikes, traveling. Both foreigners, and Thai, on this trip.
Haha I can't believe you met Joel Brunner in your video. That is so epic!
Yeah, it didn’t even dawn on me at the time who he was. I knew he looked familiar, but I just couldn’t place the face.
That's so cool, it looked like he still wanted to talk lol. I'm sure you will run into him again. :)@@LifewithSerg
Whenever you're bored of sleeping in a room, you can camp near a stream somewhere. I always did that and never got robbed.
That’s a great way to travel. I just prefer a bed after a long day of riding. Enjoy!
Yes, of course it’s much easier to go buy airplane. However, I wanted to see more of the countryside, some adventure.
Fantastic video! Love the beautiful villages and road sceneries, lush vegetation, mountains, tasty looking foods, comfortable accommodations and the overall relaxed presence of the people.
Yes it was great. I’m glad you enjoyed it. There’s more videos like this coming.
You've made it! passing 4,088 curves from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son ain't easy. Congrats, Serg. 👍💪😎
I’m about halfway around the loop, loving it
07:37 นั่น Joel Bruner 🙏
Oh damn!! I didn’t even recognize him. I thought he looked familiar!
Thank you so much Serg. I enjoyed going on your trip with you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Much more to come.
I'm not normally a shrine fan, but this one you found is really beautiful. I can't believe you are riding the loop already! You are coming across some great places.
Yep I am three days into the loop. It’s so much fun.
A cyclist you met is @JoelsTastyRide. He is one of my favourite guy to watch his channel.
Yes Joel Bruner. I thought he looked familiar, but I didn’t recognize him.
Legeeeeeeend, thank you so much!!! 4OilOnly, really appreciate that :)
Very nice to meet you there, that was a perfectly timed Thumbs up thats for sure!!! @@LifewithSerg
@@JoelsTastyRide Honestly, I wanna mentioned you as Kru Joel. Since you join cycling team i can't.
Happy ride and also enjoy the meal.
I super miss Kaosoi at Moo Ban Monk Doi Pui. :)
@LifewithSerg Safe ride and enjoy your trip bro. Pang Ong is a must to vist there in early morning. 😄
@@LifewithSerghaha we just watched this episode and were like hey that's Joel! So random to bump into him! Is Waze a thing in Thailand? Here it dominates over google maps and has gotten us out of long waits behind accidents.
This is LOST WITH SERGE is an affirmation, LOL. No worries, I'm enjoying the view along the way. You know what "they" say, Serge, " Life is not about the journey, it's how you get there." Enjoy the ride.
You are so very correct. It really is all about the journey. That has been my motto for the last few decades. Glad you enjoyed this episode.
Being close to nature makes me feel relaxed 😍
Me too! Love it.
Thank you so much Serge ! You make me want to sell my stuff and move to Thailand !! I envy you :)
It was similar videos to this that made me finally decide to move to Thailand. It’s not a perfect country, but I am definitely happier here than I was in the US for the last 10 years.
I'm definitely thinking about making the move ! Thanks for your reply Serg ! @@LifewithSerg
The temple that you have visited in Mae Jam is a Lanna arts style
The Ubosot has that character.
Aha. Thanks.
It was 12 dog C when i got there. 31 at the bottom. Best ride ever. Thanks
12° wow!
The changes on scenery on your way to the highestpeak around ChiangMai bring a smile to many of us.....rice fields, jungles terrains and villages of all kinds and sizes...Serg you have gain lots of traction in your vblog and it's the authentic ways to present Thai cultures and scenery to all...thanks for sharing this vblog, stay safe...😮😂

At the end of this vdo that is sticky rice field. That's will be harvest next month.☺️👍

Finally out of Bangkok and into the real beauty of Thailand. Miss living in Chiang Mai and running trails. Would go up doi inthanon on the regular long run Sunday. Epic trail running! Love it! Best time of the year too I’m many ways! Recognise the cyclist too. Enjoy man!
Yeah, I just realize that was Joel Bruner. Lol. The trip was great so far, glad you enjoy.
Hi,sir if you stay long enough in Doi inthanont you'll see and feel warm weather.very great weather in this time.
Thanks for the tip!
OMG!! It looks SOOO nice!! You should try a few snacks/food /typical things from Chianf Mai and from that little town and make a vid of it! I'd love to know more about their culture and what they actually eat and etc =)
Anyways, hugs from Arg! 😊
Oh yes I’ve been eating. Lol. You’ll like the next video. Found a cute little night market. Muchas gracias!
That sounds so good! Haha I'll be waiting for it! 😊😊 Besos

The most epic episode lost with Serge, nice 👍
Glad you enjoyed! And again, as always, I really appreciate your support
Good to see another side of Thailand, thanks for bring me on virtual vacation😂
You’re most welcome. I’ve got about five more episodes planned in the pipeline.
@@LifewithSerg I'm looking forward for it
Did the loop with a friend in August from Chiang Mai ante clockwise over 5 days. Great road surface, not much traffic, wonderful scenery. Don’t know how old mate here keeps getting lost? 😂 We didn’t ride any dirt tracks. You definitely need a bigger bike. I rented a 500, but ride a Z900 at home , so can ride well. Inexperienced riders shouldn’t really tackle this ride on a motorbike …
Yes inexperienced riders should not. I’ve been riding for 32 years. This was easy for me. A bigger bike would be easier, but I was very happy with this bike.
Greetings from Willow Glen SJ, always enjoy your content.
Btw: I didn’t forget to look after myself
Good old Willow Glen! I’ll be back for a visit sometime in April!
ขอบคุณครับ ลุงมะขาม
You are most welcome.
I absolutely love the view then the rice-fields get to the yellowy color. It is amazing!
I’ve never seen anything like it. It was so much more beautiful in person.
Wow that rice field so Beautiful
The video doesn’t do it justice. The colors were so vibrant. They literally stood there for five minutes just looking at it.
When your in pai go eat at the pai siam bistro.Scottish guy Marco owns it. Great host and good food.
Thank you for the tip!
Serg, the new skywalk in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai is just opened. It's so beautiful you should visit. Chiang Rai is so closed to Mae Hong Song where you are now.
Yes, I might stop there on the way back to Bangkok.
The skywalk is in วัดพระธาตุดอยเวา ( Wat-Pra-Tart-Doi-Wao) in case you can ask people around there if you could not find it. You will see Myanmar from the other side.😊
If you ever get to southern Thailand, you will love route 410 between Yala and Betong.
Just finished a 6 day tour from Phuket
I’m definitely planning on doing that trip soon
@@LifewithSerg don't let the reputation of the area scare you off. No problems at all for our group. Friendly people everywhere. You see some military and there are some roadblocks but nothing to concern you

Enjoy the peaceful stay. 7-11 what more could you ask for...Matt
There are actually three 7-11 in the town, but only one open restaurant. Lol.
It's so peaceful.
Yes very much so!
Sorry, but I laughed at your reaction when first hitting the dirt road. But you kept calm and carried on in true "stiff upper lip" tradition. Don't think I could have slept in the Pepto Bismol room, you're more determined than I. Enjoying you journey.
Pepto-Bismol room! OK that’s funny. LMFAO.
Awesome content as usual! Keep up the good work Serg!
Thanks! Will do!
Hope youre enjoying yourself!
I am having so much fun!
Nice video Serg! Doi Inthanon is beautiful, the only place in Thailand I've ever needed a coat 🙂 It can get a bit chilly up there.
Yeah, first time I was cold in Thailand!
Awesome!! Looking forward to seeing the next videos 👍
More to come!
What a nice view, Thanks for sharing mate, have a safe n fun trip!
Thank you so much
ขอให้เดินทาง ด้วยความปลอดภัยครับ..

Totally epic drive!
These roads are wonderful Mike!
@@LifewithSerg Wait until you make the drive from Pai to Chiang Mai. 762 hairpin twists and turns. One of the most beautiful drives in all of Thailand!

Been watching your content for a while but didn't subscribe. But man, this series deserve more subscriber!! count me in!!
I really appreciate your support. There’s many more episodes from this series to come.
Good fun getting lost with the right spirit, Serg. As long as there are power poles, there's always hope to arrive at some locations where the trip can continue. Thanks for the adventure.
I love the power pole navigation suggestion! That’s too funny
Nice trip Serg. I would love to taste the food there. Have a good time. Take care and see you next time.
So, for the food has been great!
It’s always great to take a different route . The roads looked fun and so glad you got there. A nice place to visit and well done on finding that resort it’s amazing and the views👌👌👌. Serg I think you found a back up channel Lost With Serg !!!!! That will be fun 😂😂 stay safe
You’re not the first person to mention that other channel idea. I’ve actually thought of renaming this channel several times. Lol.
next to min 20.00 it a certainly beautiful View Serg. I hope you have a safe trip and fun with its time.
Oh yes, I’m having a great time.
Oh, I really like road trip. The nature is like magical. I can’t wait to see next video.
I love the nature out here. It’s so beautiful.
i’ve ever drove my toyota colora altis to maehomgson loop one time. mae jam town is good place. peaceful place. i love there.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Keep updated, bro! Mae Hong Song Loop is such an amazing place to visit.
I am loving every minute of it
We're going to follow your route next week with our small car.
I hope you enjoy! I should have a minimum 5-6 more videos from this tour coming up.
We are looking forward to watch them.
W e wil l start our trip from phang nga
province. Have you ever been there?
I went to Doi Intanon in 2018. It was raining that day we had to use a raincoat. You finally found a nice and quiet place where you are the only tourist in Chiang Mai 😂. If you go to Chiang Rai, stop by Pu Chee Fa, sunrise is breathtaking there. It is one of the best sunrise spots in Thailand. I recommend spending a night there, and get up early to see sunrise. I have a friend who owns a resort, Pu Chee Fah Twin View resort.
I’m not sure if I’m gonna make us a Chiang Rai on this trip.
Thanks for the upload
“ I almost rolled my ankle “
Haha
This is a daily occurrence for me in Thailand ;-)
I think I see that at least a few times a week. That is my biggest fear, is messing up my ankles. Gawd…. I sound like some octogenarian. LMFAO.
Aloha Serge....have been greatly enjoying your content. thank you. I did the Mae hong Son loop a month ago, and wanted to recommend the side road to Baan Rak Thai & Nam Lod cave (near Sappong, Pang mapha) gorgeous scenery and great riding, loads of hair pin bends. not to be missed amigo! enjoy
Glad you’re enjoying the videos. Both of those are actually on my list!
just south of the highest peak where you stopped at on the same road about 5km is a one of the most epic view points . It has the king and queen pagodas. Its one of the coolest shots you can get with the pagodas in the back ground and the little bridge with a stream and the mountains and clouds in the back drop....name of the pagodas (Pra Mahatat Noppamethanedon and Pra Mahatat Nopphonphusiri)
Yep, I missed it. Lol.

Did that route with a big bike manual transmission boy was my clutch wrist sore , but yeah the trip was worth. Did the whole trip Pai - Mae Hon Son.

What a great view in the end
I really loved that little farm view resort
@@LifewithSerg on the whole the roads looked in good condition and very quiet
I’m going clockwise because this way I’m saving the best roads for last. So they should be getting better and better as they continue back towards a Chiang Mai. I’ve already had some amazing stretches.
Enjoy your channel exploring the different places in Thailand! I think you should rename it “Lost with Serg” 🤣
I have seriously thought about doing that a few times. Lol.
Planning to go soon. Thailand is just so beautiful!!! And their appreciation for nature, iykwim
and we are planning to do it counter-clockwise and we'll be driving. Excited! Thanks for the video!
It really is!
Wow sooo cool video ❤
Thank you 🤗
Thank you for your nice vdo/ TH-cam. I am really enjoy yr vdo.
It's my pleasure
Doi Inthanon is one of the most popular National Park in Thailand. It's famous for the viewpoint, nature trail, waterfalls, sunrise-sunset watching, birdwatching, etc.
Too bad that you missed many beautiful places up there such as the twin royal pagodas of the King Rama 9 and the Queen, the short nature trail called Giw Mae Pan, Vachiratan Waterfall, etc. Hope you can visit all these places next time. Have a safe journey through out the country ! 😊
Thank you.
Take care 🎉

Chaing mai old town is amazing ,were you asleep when you eere there, some of the most beautiful temples in the whole of thailand ,great food ,cool coffee shops ,great bars and check out zoe in yellow
I felt like they were too many tourist there. So I just spent two nights at work, but didn’t really look around much.
Woww
So nice!!
Makes me want to learn to ride a bike - Then I look at the inner city traffic and think again, I wonder if you can get a beefed up tuktuk...
I would not recommend learning how to ride a motorbike in Bangkok. Even with 30 years of experience, I still find it pretty crazy to ride in that city.
HOWEVER… obviously many people learn how to write a Bangkok, so it just depends how your hand eye coordination is, and how well you can deal with multitasking.
Thanks for taking us along your adventures Serg! Can I ask a question please? Your wrote in the main description that your main camera is an iphone? How do you mount the iphone on your chest while you are on a motorbike? Would you consider making a tech breakdown of your methods? Would be very helpful for people like me. Thank you! Save travels!
Certainly. The iPhone is mounted to a Manfrotto mini tripod with a Manfrotto clamp. I have an Osprey backpack that has a chest strap. I took the whole thing in and tighten the chest strap down. It is not the most stable mount, but it works. Can’t say I recommend this set up because it does move around a bit. But I like the solution because I can easily pull it back out with my hand and start recording.
