44.5gr. XBR 8208 is max! compressed load for .308 Win 60,800 psi 2,870 fps. in 24" barrel. 7.62mm Nato M80 is 2,750 fps. A 78' from muzzle. 25" barrel is got to be pushing 3,000 fps,
.308 Win head space is smaller. If you handload and keep the pressures less than max for .308 Win you'd be ok. The actions of these use EN steel, same as the .303 guns. Keep the velocities at 7.62mm Nato and it will work. This guy is running a max load for .308 Win (compressed) running over 60K psi. and 2,900 fps. with that 150 gr . M1 bullet.
@@raylaux8295 Chamber HS is smaller not cartridge HS. Agreed the EN steel was what the .303's used. The Indian's tried to use a different steel that did not work so the reverted to the British spec. EN steel.

No, his load is a .308 Win 60K psi load in Hodgden's data. These 2A rifle are max pressured with 55K psi 7.62 Nato ball
