Galil ARM
A tough afternoon for me but the Galil is such a joy to shoot. I'm on the HCGC 600 yard range in Paris, Tn.

Thanks to John Chubb, I get the chance to shoot one of my dream rifles. I know it is long and I'm long winded but I'm not holding back. Get ready for the 600 yard range coming up.
Tony , Always Appreciate Your Videos and Shooting. Thanks Again For Sharing.
Always good to see a new video
"Dang" Tony Lacy!!!
Too heavy, expensive and just not that accurate --- huge fail for Israel and the rest ....
Thank you for this video Tony. This rifle for sure is on my radar
Hey!! Former 3rd ID designated marksman here. I LOVED this rifle. Honestly, this is the best weapon platform I ever used as an infantryman and as a civilian. Never had a problem engaging my targets, in training and in country. Great tribute rifle btw! Honestly this is the route the ARMY should have gun with its rifle system. Instead they kept reducing barrel length, and in turn its terminal velocity. Now soldiers are going to be under ammo'd and weighed down with this new ARMY 6mm round they got, not to mention the lack of follow up accuracy... sigh.
He. Just found your video on the ssg. Wondering more about the scope. I think you said you have zf 84. I have the zf95 (i think ) but on my elevation its marked 10 ,20 30 ect. Is yours the same or is it 1,2,3,4. Thanks Mike
Mike, I will have to check. I had to order mine from Kahles. I'm in Indiana right now but I will check.
Want a good one? Buy a cheap bore scope and scope the barrel before you choose one. TE and MW figures are not the only indicators of quality. 30 seconds with a bore scope will tell you what you need to know if you want a shooter. If you dont care then accept a possible wall hanger...
I would agree.
I have one in 7mm. No adjustable stock.
It does look like those converted military rifles they used in international competitions for a while after WW2 though :)
It looks a like a bubba sporter to me but it shoots like a laser!
@@lacysrange Saw that -- I only read about those specific guns years ago in a local magazine, was happy to see something looking alike :)
Nice rifle!!
Tony Lacy, nothing like a nice bayonet !
Marty Murphy ---- I can't believe I still have not seen you at a match. We are just an hour away!!!!
Awesome video Tony!
I got a mk 5 a couple months ago and have put a few rounds through it. As you have experienced with yours mine seems to be the same with very poor and inconsistent groups. My conclusion is that these were modified military arms and not bench rest precision rifles so I am just going to have some fun shooting it and not expect perfection from it.
Robert, I will have to get back to that No 5. I think I can get it to shoot much better than it did in the video. I have two of them that can lay the law down. I shot one of them at the CMP matches and did well with it.
Beautiful rifle and great video. I have the LC as well. I thought about SBRing it, but I kind of like what Marcolmar did with the barrel extension. It has a historical profile and is well made. I have the rail and went with a Primary Arms 1x SLx Prism sight and the ACSS reticle system. You get extra credit points for having the correct sling on your Cetme… haha.
Pavia, I love the CETME L and LC. I have both of the scoped models now so I still need to video the LV.
Great to show the tool!!!!
It speeds it up for sure.
The sights on these are fixed at 200m
Yes, the Finns replace the front sight so they could get a standard sight picture. I'm very fond of the 7.35 round.
I need to install a KNS piston on mine. Seems heavy grain is more accurate.
Savage, I would agree. The Yugo 182gr has been great in mine.
Morning Lacy!.......... Brad
Good Morning Brad! Are you shooting at Memphis this weekend?
loose the intro sounds its all b/s noise for a fat, bald old man video
His video, his rules. Lighten up.
She's a sweet shooter with those 77s 👍
I haven't done much with it due to me still having my rifle I built for High Power. I love an accurate rifle!
You are absolutely correct about the Garand and the M1941. I have both and put a lot of rounds through both and the M1941 can't compare to the Garand.
I really wish I had bought a refurbished Johnson when they were under $1000 in the 90s. So many rifles. Only so much money in a SSgt's pay check. 🤠
Don, the first one that I ever saw was at the NRA show in Nashville in the late 80's. It was $2,000 bucks but that was a whole lot of money to a kid working at Wal-Mart for $3.60 and hour.
I got a chance to shoot a Johnson rifle last year when my friends dad passed he was left with an incredible collection of firearms from the inheritance. Sadly, he sold this piece at auction I wish I had the money to buy it at the time...
Greedy, I have always sorta wanted one. This scratched the itch.
"Damn" Tony Lacy ... General Harris would be proud
Marty Murphy, thanks for watching the videos. When are you going to make that short drive and shoot with us?
Growing up in RI, I was surprised to find out that Johnson manufactured them just off Elmwood Ave in Cranston RI.
Yeah that spotter doesn't seem to have spotted much 😂 but great shooting and excellent video overall
Ace, Brian is learning long range. Chris and Brian drive over to Henry County to shoot twice a month from Stewart County. In the next 6 months we will have him calling like Jerry Hunt!
@@lacysrange oh I don't doubt it and my comment was definitely a joke not an insult haha everyone starts somewhere
Very nicely done! Thank you making this video Tony. Great overview of the semi auto “gang” from WWII . And I agree with your take, Garand is my #1 and then SVT.
If my assumption is correct that you plan on having Samopal USA repaint it I also suggest getting the enhanced trigger while its there. Makes a massive difference in how the gun shoots enhancing the already good accuracy inherit to the platform. He can go over the whole gun and make sure everything is correct and in spec also. They polish out the furniture also.
Very impressive! I've never seen anyone hit and repeat at 500 with an AK round. I just discovered your channel and really am stoked to find someone else who likes to push out with the old war dogs. I just subscribed and will be plodding through your library soon. Thanks for posting! Zk
Tony , Outstanding Video and shooting,
Has the action bin bedded, and the barrel channel ,free floated? And ,,hand loaded custom mad ammo !!
I’ve always seen the Criterion barrels out of stock. Do they still make them and I just need to keep an eye out for in stock notifications or did you buy yours elsewhere?
Ellijah, CMP usually has some in stock. If you call to set up a barrel change they will make sure they have one before they tell you to send the rifle.
All ive ever beard about the ammo for british sniper rifles is that the snipers called it green spot. When they changed the dies to new dies where the bullets were made the 1st thousand bullets were marked with a green dot and those were the bullets that were used in there sniper ammo. Im sure they use match ammo now though.
I haven't heard the Green Spot story. I will have to look that up.
I found it in a book called sniper one. It is about a British sniper platoon in the Iraq war.
I've also heard some things about the l42 rifle to. Like that it might shoot 1ans a half inch groups at 100 m and still shoot 1 and a half inch groups at 300 m. I've also heard that it out shot the l96 when they were testing them. Have you ever heard that?
I know this is an older video but it fun to watch as I just got a navy garand in 7.62 I am very much looking forward to going to the range
Let me know how it does. I just had an BM 59E built and it is shooting great. I have thought about building an Italian M1 in .308.
I was hoping to get some good information from this video, suffered through, listening to someone who obviously is mentally challenged…
Hey Tony, great video. As late as 1992, my SRT at White Sands Missile Range still had 2 M1Ds on the books and trained Marksmen/Oserver teams with them. Had the pleaseure of shooting them there from 1990-1992. I believe our sister MP Company at Aberdeen Proving Ground also had them. We were the last MTO&E MP Companies assigned to Army Materiel Command at the time. My first CMP purchase was a rack grade M1D that I just got back from the CMP Custom Shop. v/r Jim
Jim, good to hear from you. I hope to see you at the D-Day Matches this summer. Bill Fairless and I did well with my D in November.
Ishy 2A1 is my only 7.62mm Nato and is a tack driver. A mint pick SOG offering from the 90's
Good video. Good information.
I got mine from Samco back in the day. The AJAX scope is nice. I had a cheap rough M38 that shot great, saw that Samco catalog and thought, even better. Nice shooting.
My favorite gun light, handy and accuracy good enough
I have a Breda manufactured M1D mount. Very high level machining. Better than U.S.G.I. in my humble opinion,
Kenneth, I would agree with you. I'm real happy with the Breda M1D.
Thanks Tony! Jim Starkey here, I just got my M1D back from the custom shop at CMP. Got it re-barreled, re-parkerized, new gas cylinder poppet, trigger and Op rod overhaul, and mounted the M84 I bought last year. Searched you tube and saw your sight info...as always, great info, and looking forward to seeing you at the Spring classic. I am hpoing to shoot the 3x600 with the M1D.
Jim, Give'm hell!! I won't make that one.
1985 i had a norenco underfolder in 556 it would feed 30 empty brass by hand everytime ak-74 plastic mags worked with a bit of lip filing
👍👍💯🇦🇱👋
Tony , Outstanding Video and shooting on the 56 . Thanks for sharing , Merry Christmas and Happy New Years.
Thank you Tim!!!
Bayonet lug screams kit build. None of my imported PSLs have a bayonet lug. Romania exported both receivers & kits. Just having a Romanian receiver doesn't make it a Romanian built rifle. I wonder if 9-Hole has used kit builds. I haven't tested my 308 Win PSL for shifting zero yet. No one really cares about the 308 PSLs anyway. 🤠
Don, the flash hider is tac welded and the bayonet lugs are ground down. I think that if built here there wouldn't a need to do that, but who knows.
PPU 155 gr hp is what I use for my .308 Saiga and it is dead nuts.
My 308 seems to like 168gr Federal Gold Medal Match and 165gr Sierra BTHP. 🤠

I thought these were setup to shot better with the lighter weight bullets
They are way over-gassed, we have tapped the gas port and inserted a set screw with a smaller port in it.
Now you just need to add a can
