    This thing works like a charm and its fun to use. This video was the most helpful I've seen on YT. Thanks for the upload.

      Glad to know it has lasted 2 years. It has come in really handy. Used it a few weeks and fixing to use it again this weekend to put line on 2 new rods.

    This video is 3 years old at the time of my viewing so I'm sure you have had ample opportunity to see how the spooler works. One thing that may have been a problem (and maybe you have already discovered it) is even though not having backing under the braid (might) have contributed a little bit to the braid biting into the under layers of othe wraps of braid, that problem is normally contributed to too low of tension on the braid while spooling. Braid doesn't like having too low of a tension. I don't know how much tension you can achieve on the Piscifun Speed X Spooler but if it cannot maintain enough tension, you might still have to use your hand holding the device to also create enough tension on the braid. Just my thoughts. The mono backing is going to serve two functions though, so you did need it on the spool first: It helps keeps the braid from slipping as braid doesn't cinch down and bite the spool the way mono does, and it also keeps you from adding more braid than you need, which can add up in expense. But otherwise, it seems to work, so I might give it a try and just monitor the tension well.

      Yep since then, I have backed my braid. I have not had a problem with spooling braid using the piscifun spooler since then. In fact I just spooled braid on a spool with it 2 weeks ago! Thanks for the info!

    I had ordered the original version but canceled it when I saw the speed x. Just ordered the speed x so I can take the fluro line off my open face and hopefully fix the line twist that I am having!

    Couldn't help but laugh 😂, my wife still holds on to the spool for me and hasn't complained, waiting for the spooler in a distant Christmas 😁

    Great video! I see you changed the spooler to a fixed position when spooling on your line. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that method is supposed to be used if spooling onto a baitcaster, not a spinning reel. The idea why not to use it fixed on a spinning reel is to avoid wind knots. Ibcould be wrong. It does look to lay the line better but have you noticed any wind knots?

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea so they recommend letting it spin, but for some reason when I did it that way, the line laid on the spool in a pyramid shape. I really don't understand how that happened cause I wouldn't think it would make a difference how it lays down on the spool, but it laid on the reel funny. Once I went to the fixed position I didn't have problems with it. I was just on a 17 mile float trip with 3 reels that were all spooled with it in the fixed position and I did not have any issues with them. I haven't had any wind knots in any of them.

      @@BooneDownSouth When I spool a spinning reel I start slow for about the first 10 turns then gradually increase my speed. Line goes on nice and even. I don't know if that will help you but it works for me.

    You don’t necessarily have to put mono on the back you can put electrical tape on the spool and put your braide on that and your set

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great idea for braid. I have done that before by putting tape around the spool several times so it wouldn't need as much line in the past on some reels.

  • @jpt2026

    Does it have tension or is it loosely spooling

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you are reeling there is plenty of tension on it. Not too much but just right IMO.

    Tip, get a braid spool reel (penn, pfleuger, others) or you can put a small piece of electric/scotch tap on the spool and line and it won't spin free. Happy fishing!

    Why does no one do a review with mono on spinning, that’s where all the line problems are. Braid doesn’t have memory.

    • @BooneDownSouth
      @BooneDownSouth  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ermanno, I guess in my case when I was ready to do the video I just didn't have any reels that needed mono at the moment. I routinely fish with 4 rods out of my kayak, two of which always have mono. I used this spooler to add the mono. Haven't noticed any problems if that helps.

    Too bad you don't read directions cuz you're doing it wrong that real should allow the school to spin freely in order to leave the line down flat the way you're doing it every time you do a turn of your real you are actually applying a Twist in your line because your school is not turning exactly the same as the spool is turning
