I have an app I’m working on that switches to High performance when ableton is running(a list of apps I choose) when not working on music it automatically switches to Balanced. Anyone want to help with testing? I’ve been using it for 2 months now with no issue. I don’t have other systems to test

The sample rate in ableton audio settings did it for me! Stupid me! I must have set it on 96000 samples which is insane! I put it on 48000, and allll fixed! Also the minimum cpu percentage thingy is a MUST if you want good sound! Thanks a bunch Gaijin Invader!

Still don't know why Microsoft does these "little" updates without announcements but with such a big impact that cause hours of headache!

For those folks STILL having this issue and you have a multi-core Intel processor, check in your BIOS for power saving "features". I disabled Powershare and Intel Speedstep in the BIOS and now Ableton 10.1.30 doesn't have the weird CPU overload glitch! I was able to drop the buffer size down to 64 on a i7 2630QM and MOTU M2 audio interface. Try it.

Hey man - thanks for this. On Windows 10 with a USB MIDI controller - if you have the same issue: Power setttings-> High performance. Select advanced settinngs-> USB and disable "selective suspend setting".
That's a nice one! 🙂 I also used to get problems with the audio interface shutting down just for no reason and realised Windows was suspending the connection when not used for like 10mins (yep the interface was USB powered)
It worked for me, thank you! Now I remember that this summer I went to the park to play and I might have changed the power settings so I could have a little more autonomy and never restored it back.

Has anyone found out how to correct this issue on a Mac yet? I can't find the settings for my CPU to do this even in the Utilities and Activity Monitor, all my other in program ones are fine with the current settings and just need to figure out that 3rd step. Thanks!

Attention! Found a way to solve the problem with CPU Overload! In my case, I had to remove GYGABYTE APP CENTER, which, as I understood, conflicted with the Windows settings (power options - high performance).
Really helpful thanks. In my case (win10) I even had to unhide the minimum processor management via registry edit to be able to change it in the power settings..
I was so psyched when I found this video! I've had this problem for a long time. So bad that I reinstalled Windows twice and yet the problem crept back after a coupl of months. I was hoping your video would fix my problem. But no, not at all. My power management settings are already set to 100% and match yours. Yet Ableton is saying my CPU is at 80% while idle and playback is nearly impossible. I might just have to buy a Macintosh. Even though I really hate Apple. 😭😭😭
@@GaijinInvader Update, I followed the instructions in Avid's "Windows 10 Optimization guide" last night. Great resource even if you're on Ableton. And my PC is much better again. The guide discusses this power management issue that you brought up. That didn't fix it for me. But I think it was the section in the guide that had to do with Processor Scheduling and background tasks. I think that was what fixed it for me. I'm on Windows 11 now with a Dell desktop running an Intel i5. 👍

ಠ ل͟ ಠ why was it hidden in the registry? Was it setup that way from the manufacturer for a particular reason?
