Thank you Kristo for the great video. I knew about the EDP change I was on the fence with Coromandel which is one that I wanted. I'll roll the dice and see how the EDP smells.
The Chanel boutique I frequent already has the edps . I smelled a few & to my nose , Sycomore smelled about the same . It is one of my favorites as is No 18 which smelled a little richer in edp . I opted for the large (which I never buy) edt in that one along with a small 31 Rue Cambon edt which I liked better on me . I was disappointed in 28 La Pausa in edp . It lacked that brightness that it has in edt . I was so surprised to see the edps in the store already . Thank you for your video . I enjoyed it .
I wish Chanel would make new men's line that's more daring and not so safe. I don't care much about the Allure or Bleu de Chanel. Only one I tried from Les Exclusifs was Sycomore, I like it.
My favourites from the line are definitely Coromandel and Cuir De Russie. I've been tempted by CdR on a number of occasions but have never taken the plunge. Maybe given the inevitable price increase I should pick up a bottle! Really been enjoying your videos of late bro, love your style. Keep doing your thing!
I love Coromandel and got a 50ml decant of it several years ago and still have a good bit left luckily. Had to get CdR before it's just too expensive. Thanks so much for watching
I am not happy about the huge price increase that's for sure! Luckily I have been collecting this line for some time and I now have them all in my collection, including Boy edp. The SA told me that some of the edt line will actually be discontinued and no longer made, some will be brought back as edp as well as brand new fragrances will come out too. We still have loads of stock here, I can't believe you guys are getting low on them in Canada!
I am VERY familiar with your amazing collection. As far as discontinuing, I believe No. 18 is the only one not returning. I did forget to mention that apparently the Eau de Cologne will not change to an EDP. Thanks for watching!
Hi Kristo, can you say anything about projection/longevity for Cuir de Russie? Do you think there's any truth to the buzz that the current Exclusifs edts are getting watered down in preparation for the edps?
Thanks for the heads up. I think I heard someone talking about this a couple of days ago. Now that I know it's for real I probably need to pick that fragrance of myself.
Yeah, it's definitely happening the SAs were quite openly talking about it. Get your bottles soon, they seem to be running out all across North America.
Hahaha i wonder what happened, that happened with me once doing an unboxing, very interesting, looking forward to seeing what the new blends are like. i'm personally not a fan of cuir de russie, just find it very soapy and not my thing, i got a 200ml for a stunning price on ebay a few years ago but didn't us it so sold it off as decants, my current faves are bois des illes and coromandel but there's others i still need to try.
I have Bois des Isles and Coromandel (200ml bottles) and I won't be buying backup bottles since I feel the EDP moniker is largely a marketing effort and there will be minimal, if any, differences in the new reconcentrations. We shall see...
I have a 10ml decant of Coromandel bought from eBay and while I like it I'm disappointed at how weak it is, I was expecting a somewhat 'beefier' performance. Does that chime with your experience or could I have a watered down decant?
Coromandel (my EDT bottle I've had for the past 2+ years) lasts a solid 10-12 hours so I would suspect you may have an issue with your decant. Other can chime-in, but this is my experience with Coromandel. Sometimes those 5-10ml decants will be stored poorly for years and then sold or given-away...hard to say. I just know that Coromandel performs very well on my skin.
Jim R Thanks Jim, sounds like the issue is indeed with my decant, it's nothing like you and others have described. Hmm, seems like I need to bite the bullet and make a trip to the boutique sooner rather than later, it'll give me a good opportunity to try all of them too while I'm there.
Very well could be a ploy to get some attention in the ever growing niche/exclusive perfume world. Hadn't thought of that angle. It's just too bad about the huge price increase. I do love Coromandel and have a large decant from about 4 years ago luckily.
I'm not hugely attached to any of them thus far so I might as well wait it out and try the EDPs, the design is so flawless that I feel my collection needs a bottle or two. That price increase is steep as hell though.
Jacques Polge recently passed the torch to his son Olivier as the in-house parfumier for Chanel. I can't see him changing things for the worst. He is a monster talent in his own right and if anything I think, as he did with Misia and Boy, he will only enhance the line. My only worry is this: the Allure line was relabelled with EDP as well, and it was stated that there was no intrinsic change to the formulation. I hope they don't justify a price hike with a relabelling that doesn't address some of the longevity concerns. Otherwise this line and moreover, this house is a world treasure worthy of UNESCO protection.
I'm very familiar with Cuir Cannage and I have to say I find them very different even though both are leathers from a designer exclusive line. CC is more feminine and "classic" smelling. CdR I find to be very masculine and soapy. Both are great but I would take CdR over CC for sure
I've always fought the urge to buy Cuir de Russie, fearing it would be a carbon copy of the Cuir Cannage. Thanks for your comment. As for the concentration changes, I think some of the fragrances could be amped up, with the exception of Coromandel which I think is perfect as an EDT. I can't imagine it being any stronger.
I'd like if you mentioned the name of the scent you're talking about a few more times than in the beginning of talking about it. I either miss it or forget what you're describing. If you just repeat the name at the end of the review of each perfume, it'd save me a lot of rewinding. Thanks!

+Jim R coromandel has been reformulated so the current edt isn't as strong or long lasting.

What do you think of the Men's mainstream line?
Kristo darling, is it possible to itemize your niche house favorites mentioned in video? Volume not so good on this one
for a second i thought its a lanier smith video lol. great video kristo.
I will definitely take that as a compliment! Thanks for watching
+BetawiBlood yea because of the chanel bags. only a glass of champagne is missing lol.
Ahhh right. Lanier is great, but I can't say I've seen that video.
Great fan of Les Exlusiffs line. My favorites are: Coromandel, 31 Rue carbon, Bel Respiro, no 22
Excellent, thanks much for the information.
You're welcome. just happy to share the word

Are you familiar with Dior Cuir Cannage? Is it similar to Cuir de Russie?
I'm very familiar with Cuir Cannage and I have to say I find them very different even though both are leathers from a designer exclusive line. CC is more feminine and "classic" smelling. CdR I find to be very masculine and soapy. Both are great but I would take CdR over CC for sure

You cant compare them, totally different , eccept , the one ingredient " leather " in common .. ( I do have both )
Great review, thanks
uping the concentration is a good thing but the smell might change ever so slightly. I can see why people would hoard their favorite.
Yeah, for sure. It will definitely smell at least a little different which can mean a lot for the real fans.

Chanel.com has all le exclisive perfumes available
Great! Thanks for letting us know.
The exclusives had already been reformulated since they came out in 2013. The quality is not as good.
