    Only you could turn a bottle opener into a piece of practical art. Great work Ben as always.

    Had a bash at one of these for a Father’s Day present - turned out quite nicely. Liked the description of shaping. Found it a pain in the arse to drill through the centre of the coin. Got near enough in the end. Cheers for the videos!

      Oh man was that the worst part!!! I remember I only had one more coin than I needed so only one I could screw up, not cause Im tight dont get me wrong I wanted only coins with the three lions on the face, they didnt seem easy to find at the time.

      Thanks mate, what’s that like in durability terms being handled etc?

      Hew and Awe
      I use it on all my natural custom cabinets, coffee tables etc. Comes in 3 sheens. Dull rub (flat or satin) medium rub (semi gloss) high rub (high gloss). I add colorant and dye stains as well to it. Drys to the touch in about 5 mins depending on temp and humidity levels. I find it very durable. Just can’t say with the way you polish and buff your finish what it would do. That’s way I’m gonna try it. Peace

    I really loved it. What did you use to make it look shiny at the end ? I am generally confused between varnish oil and wax

    • @HewAndAwe
      @HewAndAwe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a wax oil, Osmo polyX 👍

    Great design. Might give it a go - good use for small scraps. One question: where are your rasps from? Mine are all of the 'tear it to shreds' variety!

      Funny I get asked this a lot this is them. www.workshopheaven.com/iwasaki-carving-file-iw-150cphr-halfround-150mm.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwqPGUBhDwARIsANNwjV7nJYJW8EonK9S-mWzxOb0IIv-cYtpHvcWWAOjsi0w_e33gYlmWm8QaAlEWEALw_wcB worth every penny!

    They turned out fantastically and that finish!
    Would be interested to know about the rasps you used. Also curious if you have recommendation for forstner bits as mine don't cut anything like as neatly as yours.

    • @HewAndAwe
      @HewAndAwe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Chris, the rasps are IWASAKI CARVING FILE HALF ROUND EXTRA FINE 150MM IW-150CPHREF. Most forstner bits are fine, the fisch Bosch Festool are excellent I have a mixture of crap and good and find what makes the difference is honing them myself, I use a file for taking off the burr from chain saw bars by hand and on a slow speed, speed kills drill bits fast!
