They know what they're doing with Tory as well. They've been setting up Tory getting a happy ending after Kreese adopts her and her brother since season 3. My daughter (14) called it, then. That evil aunt appearing in s4 is when I realized she was on to something. She's 100% the future sensei of Cobra Kai (the heir Kreese has been looking for). On the flip side, with Daniel stepping down and Johnny working with a baby, its obvious who'll be running Miyagi Do in a few years. These writers know EXACTLY what they're doing. Let the spin-offs begin 😁😁😁
Agreed. It also parallels Johnnys arc. If he can help Tory through her tragedy and redeem Kreese, he will be the new Mr Miyagi or a version of him. Allowing Daniel to retire and Johnny taken over.
The way this show keeps torturing Tori tells me that she’s the main character, because wtf?!! I had issues with this episode, but watching Tori try to fight through grief and yell out that her Mom died was beyond heartbreaking. Johnny telling Daniel that he processed his grief like that too was a lot. Of all the issues I have with this season, this episode was emotionally brutal, but surprisingly well-done.
Tory's the Johnny of the spinoff for sure, when she's running Cobra Kai after being adopted by Kreese. My daughter (14) is scary good at spotting things, and she saw it coming season 3. Kreese having the same tragic teenage background, assaulting the landlord, caring about her home life, and even getting Amanda in her corner. He's never cared for any student that much, including Johnny. Now that Daniel is soon taking a backseat and Johnny is working with a baby coming, Sam is going to be running Miyagi Do. These writers don't waste ink. That's why that evil aunts brief cameo was so important in season 4. Tory WILL lose her brother unless someone steps in. I'm betting Tory's mom knew this and being bedridden, all she knows of Kreese are the great things Tory says. Don't be surprised if she's already signed custody of them over to him to protect her kids. A good mom in her position would do that.
I think we need to remember as far as those Miyagi secrets are concerned that they seem to have taken place around the time that Miyagi' s wife and unborn child had died. My theory on the stolen necklace is that it belonged to Miyagi's wife and it was taken from her when she was placed in that internment camp during World War 2, and when he saw that person with that necklace, Miyagi's emotions at the time got the best of him. Also just like Tory and Johnny, Miyagi competed at the Sekai Taikai to let those emotions out
@@jcueto75 A Tremendous Great Possibility. I Mostly 1000% agree/am with you for that sort of meaning. Hope the truth comes out somewhat the exact same way that you said along with bringing everything/everyone back together/revolution of the story/series during part 2 and 3.
@@jcueto75 just like the exact same way that Tory just needs to let it out/lay it out on the mat during the Sekai Taikai for the sake of her mental health along with her emotional health.
@@vic99333 I’m with you bout that, no matter how many times I see it before the captains sparring matches, my heart breaks every single time. Peyton list just owns the episode/season (steals the show) (so far).
Kreese 1000% did NOT kill Tory's mother, people. In case you haven't been watching, he clearly deeply cares for (loves) her. He respects her more than anyone because he sees himself in her. He too was a dirt poor kid with a "sick" mom, remember. That flashback was done specifically to show that.
Letting Tory finish the fight win or loss gives her at least a since or power. Where she won or lost it was in her control but Daniel stopping the fight took the last ounce of power and control she had, she already was striggling with the after highschool options feeling she had none then loses her mom and can't do anything and then Daniel who thought he was doing whats best basically steals what little power she felt she had left. Sam wasnt in danger did Tory take an extra shot yes but she was also hyper focused so after getting the warning I doubt she would have done it again on top of Johnny and Daniel were there in the off chance she went to far letting them finish gives Tory a chance to work through her frustration win or loss. I think Miyagi story is essential for Daniels growth, he holds on to the past to hard, Johnny and him have a history and since season 1 he has held on to this hate for Johnny from 30 yrs ago because he was a bully then, and no matter how much Johnny tries to become a better person is like Daniel believes your either born good or bad even when he says things like bad teacher not student but he only sees Johnny as that 16 yr old kid he had issue with in the past. I assume the Miyagi story is to show Daniel its not where you start but where you finish
This puts a lot of context on Miyagi's lines throughout the series, of which I have quoted incessantly for the last 30+ years of my life. "You look revenge that way, start by digging two graves." "Never stop war by taking part in one." "Lie becomes truth only if person want to believe it." "Never put passion before principle. Even if win, you lose." But at the end of the day, we can at least rule out the possibility that he was ever attacked by a tree.
OK.. I'm so old... Anyone else remember the 80's movie Best of the Best? Clearly the title of this episode was a nod to that. It's a martial arts movie, that has James Earl Jones in it and ends with a tournament, that will probably be similar to the Sekai Taikai.. Loved it as a kid.
@@paulneil2524 They better dam we’ll play somewhere down the tournament or in the most thrilling pack Fil/meaningful part of the series/franchise in part 3 or somewhere “Your the Best Around”. We’re Expecting it Sometime at this point! This is your last chance to use it. So Use It! For the right occasion/reasons for the characters, and the story along with it also.
I think it went over a lot of people's heads. Everything about Sekai Taikai with teams of 6 of the best fighters that represents each different school instead of each different country like the (Best of the Best) movie did. Johnny even said to the group, during training; when he was reviewing different Marshall Arts movies from the '80's, "with hard work & a lot of heart maybe one day, you to can be as great as Eric Roberts."🤣 God, now that I think about it, I'm starting to show my age. F-🤬I feel old now as well. 😣
I think what we'll eventually find out, is that when Daniel first met Miyagi, Miyagi was Johnny at the start of this show. He was living a life filled with a lot of regret for his past and working as a lowly maintenance guy at some apartment building. Which is why he was rude and off putting to Daniel when they first met. He was in the exact same place in life that Johnny was. It's just that Daniel never really got clued in on it or understood the catalyst he was for change in Miyagi's life because Daniel was so focused on the positive effect Miyagi was having on him. It was Daniel that made him better, and Daniel was also made better for having Miyagi. Just like Miguel and Robbie are better for having Johnny, and Johnny is better for having a family instead of being alone. I think it gets brought up now because it all wraps around to show that duality in both stories. How Miyagi was helped by a young Daniel to become a good man, and Johnny will be helped by everything from this show to become that same good man. Johnny does become the equivalent to Miyagi by the end of this show imo.
The Johnny Myagi parallel is becoming soooo evident I think Daniel’s final arc will be accepting that Jonny is more similar to his mentor than he’s willing to admit
This is all Daniel’s fault. He showed favoritism for his kids all season. They specifically mentioned that Johnny would ref the girl’s fight to remove bias yet Daniel politicks for a point deduction and INTERFERES in the middle of the fight. They act like Tory is the Hulk and would have murdered Sam lol. Tory is dealing with grief and she should get to decide how to handle it. Who the heck is everyone else to tell her how to grieve? The most disgusting part is the captain ceremony. They are all happy as clams and couldn’t care less what happened to Tory. No one went after her or tried to reach out to her.
I can accept that Robby got his win because several people wanted him to get his own spotlight after placing second place in the last two All Valley’s. And now he’s going to lose focus & thrown off-balance now that the big promise of him and Tory being on the mat together has been broken
@@VincentAlfonso they’ll be able to maintain it/get it together to at least make it happen during part 2 (Robby, Miguel, Sam, our entire family), along with abling to get her back. To us, her family (our family). Don’t worry. They’ll be able to figure this out. Cause you know what? We’re all in this together, cause we are all fighters.
@@VincentAlfonso Actually I think this way Robby and Tory might still get their wish. I believe the winners will be Robby with Miyagi-do and Tory with Cobra Kai. I thought they actually hinted at her leaving when Robby initially suggested it. Kreese might be selfish but he’s also right that at Miyagi-do, Tory will always be competing with Sam for the limelight.
@@S_Prospero I would find it problematic if Sam never wins over Tori in the entire show. Doesnt seem like a good deal for the show or her arc and also the LaRusso name in the Karate Kid universe....
@@svenr.3803 Actually Sam has won every single head to head her and Tory have fought besides the All Valley where Silver paid off the ref, so still technically none.
To be honest. Tori did not abandon them. She them in that emotional moment, but as you said, there was a time lapse and during that time that Robbie was growing out his hair, nobody followed her. Nobody apparently talk to her the entire time. They abandoned her.
I'm on Johnny's side with Tory.. I'm 40, lost my dad when I was 14 and had a basketball game the next day and I sincerely wanted to play but my mom wouldn't let me.. but it is tricky and I do understand how it could potentially be dangerous, but I wish they let her fight..
@@DONTHASSLETHEHOFFmakes a Whole Lot of Sense! The sense of part of how this whole feud started in the first place a century ago, but not Centuries. Cause 100s of years as opposed to 100 years would just be WAY to ridiculous.
I disagree. I definitely think Kreese played a part in Tory's mothers death, hence the clenched fist. I'm sure he just made it look like an accident. Not sure if he will confess this. It was in his plan to get Tory back in cobra kai.
@@heartmikysplaylist I think the clenched fist was her holding the cap, you see Tory pulling it out of the bag she got back from the hospital. It was the patient belongings which were on her. They also show you at the start of the fight with Sam. Flashing from the fist to the cap.
I hate that neither Johnny or Daniel seemed to check on Tori. They only seemed to care that they “lost one of their best fighters” not realizing that Tori actually has no one. Sometimes life is bigger than karate.
Hence why Tory rejoined cobra kai, I also got annoyed about it too but it also makes sense Tory going back to kreese but I don’t see Tory staying with cobra kai til the end of season 6 she just needs space and she thinks fighting is the answer since her mom said it
@@loganwojtal7996 especially in a sense that she needs to let it out/lay it out on the mat during the tournament, for the sake of her mental health, along with her emotional health.
OMG we need a flashback scene with Miyagi at the Sekai Taikai tournament in the 1940's in like those brownish/black and white film colors. They should cast the guy that was fishing on the beach that Daniel said reminded him of Miyagi!
What I like about this show is that no one is a one dimensional bad guy, everyone's humanity gets explored and is given a redemption arc. Even Silver's crazy behavior in KK3 is explained by him saying he was on cocaine the entire time. I think the final arc for Daniel to get off his high horse is to have Mr Miyagi be knocked off the pedistal he placed him on. I love Mr Miyagi but Daniel's big problem is deifying him and acting like his way is the only correct way. The funny thing is Mr Miyagi taught Daniel in a specific way because of who he was and how hot headed he was, plus he just wanted his chores done. Once Daniel finally understands that Miyagi was human and not perfect, and therefore his expectations for himself and others are unrealistic, he'll start to lighten up. I think he'll learn that the Miyagi he knew was the man he became after a long life of being imperfect, and Daniel will realize that we all need to be given the room to become who we are meant to be. Perhaps the show will end with them dropping the name Miyagi-Do and opening a school just called something like "All-Valley Karate" or the "Johnny-Daniel House of Punch Punch." “What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person.” -John Green
What I love about the Miyagi storyline, is that he was a good and badass fighter who maybe made mistakes in his past. He then took pity on a bullied kid and taught him karate. What a good time in to be a foil and parallel to Johnnys arc
Two points also to consider: 1) He stole his best friend's girl, which is an old-fashioned no no. 2) In KK3, when he didn't want Daniel to fight in the next All Valley, maybe this is why.
My case might have been extreme. When I was in the 82nd Airborne Division back in the late eighties we had a guy die jumping out a plane. His grandfather was in the 82nd and jumped before him. They immediately made the whole crew on that plane jump again because they didn't want us to be afraid to jump and quit jumping out of planes. Had to regain our confidence.🪂 🛫
If i had been jonny at the end there, i would have ordered everyone off the mat's bar tori and sparred with her to get the rage out....I think thats the one way he went wrong, he knew she needed it but didnt see the issue with it being for the comp against sam. Being the experinced teacher he could have taken the blows and helped his student.
My theory is that Miyagi didn't lose his son in the war, he lost his son in the tournament. Miyagi's son fought in the Sekai Taikai tournament and died.
A lot of people ask how Kreese gets around, but many seem to forget that he was Special Forces. It’s very likely that he has a network of allies that he can utilize; not just from his SF days, but also potentially people he met through Silver.
So basically the reason why they're bringing this "no one is perfect" storyline now is because they are going to make a Mr. Miyagi spin off show where they are going to cover all these plot points. This is also a way to bring Julie pierce back (next karate kid), in his fake ID the name is keisuke Miyagi, that's the same name he used in the next karate kid to receive his medal of honor.
@@alexanubius Before Cobra Kai, nobody gave a damn about Karate Kid. Yes, the movie was a hit in the 80's but in 2018 there were zero people worried about the lore of the franchise and things like that. This show revitalized the brand, and now any prequel would be monitored under microscope.
@@alexanubiusAnd dont misundertand my point, I still have the original Betamax tape of "Karate Kid" from 1984. My uncle gave it to me and its a treasure. But in 2018...I wasn't worried at all about Cobra Kai.
Steven You're absolutely right It would have been a different fight in their prime because if you notice in this fight Johnny used a lot more defense than he ever would have back in the day That's the reason why he won in all honesty. If you go back and watch the fight again. Keep up the good work you and Nikki are amazing. You two are in my top react couples online.
As far as Miguel's notable hair lengths, most of these scenes were actually reshots of material prefilmed before the writers strike. Another example is the fight at the baseball field with Kenny & Shawn vs. Miguel & Robby

@@MFBlooshworse, she was being a menace to almost everyone she ever met from the moment she stepped into Johnny’s dojo. There’s a difference. It does look like bad luck got to her again, but the way I see it karma struck her as well. This might be the closest thing we’ll get to payback for not reporting the bribery and indirectly (albeit unintentionally) almost having Daniel killed.
@@nintenmetro lol So where is Sam's Karma for all the shit she caused & was indirectly responsible for? lol. Hawk did way worse shit than Tory did but fans seem to overlook that to
On Johnny's side with letting her fight and work through it. I grew up playing ice hockey and being on the ice was my safe place growing up. I used it to get away from depression and anxiety.
I have mixed feelings about the girls’ duel. On one hand, I get that Daniel was prioritizing Tory’s mental health and he feared that her loss was gonna make her do something she was gonna regret… again. On the other hand, I always felt that Johnny might be able to relate to Tory on some level. Growing up, karate was his coping mechanism after he lost his mom. Now it was Tory’s turn. As for Tory herself, I didn’t hear Daniel or anyone else telling her that she was out of the dojo. She left on her own accord. If she had explained that her aunt Kandace was getting up to her neck for the welfare check and custody over Brandon, they still would’ve found a way to help her. Now we wait for November 15 if not sooner.
I’m waiting for either Kenny to show up with cobra Kai since they only had 4 fighters or a crazy theory would be of Silver appears as another dojo name and Kenny is with him. I kinda see my first guess being more accurate though
Hawk was mostly shafted (being cheated and/or tricked upon often enough, cause mostly do to his overconfidence) as opposed to being Nerfed. During the last 2 seasons.
that's probably why they had him win the all valley in season 4. but there's still 10 eps left. a lot can happen. devon's scandal is a bomb waiting to go off
@@penoyer79 I think we will see Demitri and Devon embrace Eagle Fang/Cobra Kai tactics within the tournament which is lowkey needed on the team, they are both fighters which the senseis dont respect enough and undervalue them heavily meaning they have something to prove and will do anything to prove that
@@NycMusics i have a feeling once daniel finds out Devon cheated kenny he's gonna kick her off the team. he's looking for an excuse to bring Anthony into the fold and i think that's going to be it. I could actually see Johnny losing his shit over it and bailing to fire up Eagle Fang again or a USA version of cobra kai to have his own team in the sekai and bringing Devon and Miguel with him as team captains.
@@penoyer79 I could see something happening with Anthony because he seemed too much of an important character to just cut out now, but if Johnny made his own team I dont think there's enough noticeable characters to spread out both of them
I think Kreese killed tory’s mother because in ep2 “the prize” master kim taught kreese a lesson to eliminate anything in his way for his prize, and that’s why i think he killed tory’s mom…for tory. And also tory’s mother fist was balled up so it looked like she died fighting or kreese balled it up to show “the way of the fist.”
I think Terry Silver did it and Amanda hired him. Amanda bailed Silver out jail and Silver killed Tory's mother with a "Silver Bullet" punch. Motive? To guarantee Sam would be a captain and Tory would be out-of-the-way AND for payback of all the times Tory tortured Sam. Question is: during Tory and Sam's fight at the dojo, why did/would the hospital call Amanda? Because Terry was on the other end to tell her that the job was complete.
Idk about all that. You really think she doesn't believe in her own daughter? Amanda is so sweet ND motherly ND understanding.she would never expect Sam to forgive her or Daniel. @@lakebay972
Well, I heard miyagi's backstory is opening up for Julie pierce. Because Julie's grandfather is Jack Pierce. The best friend of miyagi and together they opened that boxing gym and that the necklace he stole was Jack's. Because someone else stole Jack's necklace and miyagi was just trying to save his friends necklace. And also, jack convinced him to join the sekai takai. KK4, the first scene, they mention (keisuke miyagi) to the podium
All the stakes in this season so far has been brutal, given the expletives have been ramped up, drinking, adult themes, I have no doubt the sekai taikai will be equally brutal
Everyone thinks Silver killed Tory's mom, but I think it was Tory's aunt, she prolly found out she was doing better and she didn't like that cause she wanted the money, so she took it upon her hands to kill Tory's mom
Given that Miyagi's name in the box is the name he goes under in "The Next Karate Kid", maybe it'll fall to Julie to fill in the blanks? Or will this be the intro for Jackie Chan's character?
I know she wasn't exactly likable at first, but I relate to Tory so much in my own way... She's my favorite character. I would never be good at karate or any sport, and I'm far from being a kid (I'm a 37-year-old woman), BUT I had an awful childhood, and I don't have any family. So, I always had to 'fight' by myself. I know it sounds corny, but that makes me relate to that poor girl a lot. Strangely enough, my second favorite is Dimitri, because I'm a software developer and a geek, so I can really connect with him too. I know they're very different, but I relate to both of them XD. I'm Spanish, by the way. But not from Barcelona; I'm from Sevilla.
Makes sense for this whole ark. The whole time, Johnny and daniel have been judging each others ways saying how they thought they were doing everything right in their own right. Even barnes was judged right away.
The fact that they learnt about Miyagi's past pretty recently instead of sooner shows how much Miyagi didn't want anyone to find out about it. We would've known it sooner had he told Daniel when he had the chance to.
Theory about the "time jump" at the end of this episode: The final scene of this set of episodes will also be the final scene of the NEXT set of episodes, which will show us the story of how we get to there, with the final set of episodes next year finally focused on the tournament.
So.. With a new Karate Kid movie coming out next year, i think we'll get part 3 leading up to that movie. Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan are in it, so my Miyagi theory is that we'll see Jackie Chan at some point in this show, and he'll somehow be the connection to Miyagi's past. I think it will all get cleared up with Jackie Chan's character
35:10 The way I took this storyline is that it actually makes a lot of sense. It's not that Miyagi is perfect, but he was such a great dude, and while there are just some people like that who don't have a single bad bone in their body, other people grow into being great. For them, there was a moment in their life where they hit a point that makes them think, I never want to be that person again. Miyagi hated tournaments and fighting unless it was to protect themselves or others. This will probably teach Daniel how to deal with students like Tory who just need a lot of guidance and a lot of support because they're dealing with too much too soon.
Funny thing: Johnny's kata is also made up of Okinawan karate techniques. Our Kata are totally based on headbutting people, twisting their nuts, elbowing the face, kicking the nuts or shins and all these cute things 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Johnny's learning well
I believe, like some others do, that the jump at the end was a time jump, kind of like Arrow and Flash used to do, show an event later in the season. Like episode 11.
You’re right about the Devon storyline. It hurts me that the show left off where it did with that unresolved. I really hope she owns up to doing Kenny dirty. Really disappointed me cuz I’ve been cheering for her since day 1.
It’s not her character to own up to what she did to Kenny, what’s more likely that Kenny or someone will find it or found out that she cheated to get in to the tournament
@@loganwojtal7996 I have faith that she will own up to what she did and give up her spot to Kenny. The drama between Kenny and Anthony will overwhelm her with so much guilt that she will fess up to what she did and make things right. This is my hope at least. 🤞
@@pwcho50 well that hope will be like a miracle if Devon owns up to it. Devon has really been Kim student until the end of season 5, it probably either be another Tori situation with Kenny or someone else will find out about it
Another theory: Mr. Miyagi fought against Master Kim in the Sekai Taikai, and young Kim showed mercy to Mr. Miyagi (who already bled) but lost because of it. This way Mr. Miyagi unintentionally "created" resentful Master Kim and "No Mercy" Cobra Kai, with all it's Karma still playing out. That way it would make much sense that Terry Silver delivered greetings from Master Kim to Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid 3.
Did you notice all the "Best of the Best" hints? That was a great 80s movie about a tournament with an American Tae-Kwon-Do Team against a Korean Team. It has a lot of dramatic, but also fantastic, fight scenes in it. It's possible they make the Sekai Taikai take place in a similar way.
As much as I have been a Daniel fan throughout even Cobra Kai.....this was not a good episode for him at all. Even at the beginning of this season he said that the strength of his Dojo is that they teach both styles equally. There is clearly value here and while the dojo name was Miyagi Do I was never under the impression that he expected Johnny to completely throw away the way he fights. That was a theme of Season 5 and how they need each other (Daniel even used his own twist on Silver's methods). There is nothing wrong with the way Johnny trained the kids. Yes Johnny was learning more balance in his way of life (With the Job) but can't Daniel see that even if he is Miyagi Do that he at least can still keep his own style?
Cobra Kai has 4 fighters so 2 are missing and Kenny is MIA. The bloody headband might not be Mr Miyagi’s, what if it was from a former student like Julie Pierce.
Find it wild that they find out Tori’s mum died yet nobody goes after her, they just replace her that day without trying to talk her round and that she can go to Spain and join up with Kreese without her boyfriend knowing
I think Kenny is going to be part of Cobra Kai. Where else he would go? Without anyone else there, maybe not, but with Tori, it's almost certain he will. Tori will be Cobra Kai's female captain, and most likely, only female fighter. Master Kim is known for not wanting to teach women so I don't think he'll send any female student. I don't really think the Miyagi fought in the Seikai Taikai. He probably held the band of some friend (or brother?) that fought there and got hurt or even dead. And this too goes along with what you said, and justifies he not wanting Danny to fight in KK3. Him not knowing the rules in KK1 also fits in whatever, as the rules are not the same in different tournament, but it could be that he really didn't know anything about any tournament (if in fact he didn't fight in the ST). Let's see.. Great reaction guys, as always! That stuff with Tori was heartbreaking, and watching the sadness in Nikki's eyes, while she says she wants to give Tori a hug, it's hard to fight the tears. This is the 'magic' of Cobra Kai. In one season we're saying a character is insane and must be stopped, in the other we're crying along with her because she's going through hell.
I think the blood on the headband is a sign this tournament is more serious than we think, and there will be a serious injury during the tournament, unfortunately.
I agree with you guys but I also have a theory that the Miyagi headband may not be his headband what if it was one of his opponents that he seriously injured/killed that could set his mindset to become more passive and not want to fight
*I think Kenny will also be on Kreese's team since we only have 3 fighters revealed to us so far and he thinks Daniel's son rigged his chances at the sekai taikai with the laxatives*
I don’t know if you heard about Chad McQueen who played as Dutch has passed away on September 11th just few weeks ago. Sadly, we may never going to see Dutch in Cobra Kai.
I don't understand why Kreese's team only has 4 members unless that one guy is going to clear everyone out, i'd believe Kenny would show up too but thats still only 5 with a space left and no one else would make sense for that team
It makes sense though that miyagi fought in the tournament and maybe that’s the reason he didn’t want Daniel fighting in them after his first win and that he wasn’t proud of his past and didn’t want people to know
the ID in the box was not Mr. Miyagi, it had a different name and DOB, maybe in the past he was protecting someone else who did bad and fought in tourneys
In The Next Karate Kid he was referred to as Keisuke Miyagi at the ceremony for the Japanese soldiers who fought for the U.S. during WWII and that's the same name on the ID we see this season. I'm not sure where they'll go with that connection though.
Everything for Tory was doing well; she was fitting in Miyagi-Do until Kreese showed up and most likely ruined it her. Her mom’s was doing good and then she died like a day after Tory saw Kreese. That fist though, that’s something Cobra Kai would do to her.
@@loganwojtal7996 There’s many people people believing that Kreese did it because of his ego and he didn’t want to go the tournament without Tory by his side.
It would be crazy if the new Cobra Kai enforce the doctor to say it was medical while they secretly threatened the doctor’s life if she doesn’t do what they say.
Wtf happen to chozen. He looked for flights back home n that was it no farewell to Daniel shown in screen. This last episode should have been an hr at least to gloss a few things over. I mean a time jump as Nikki mentioned with Robbies hair definitely happened but could have transitioned a bit better. He'll be back though maybe he's in audience with kumiko
Seem like everyone keeps neglecting that only the captains compete in the head to head tournament that will be televised. So everyone else on the team isn’t competing to fight with other dojos only the captains are. Everyone is there for the team challenges
Since we've been questioning the fact that Miyagi wasn't exactly an angel... I think I remember (though I could be wrong) that in Karate Kid 2, Miyagi was totally okay with Daniel participating in a fight to the death (against the now surprisingly nice Chozen XD). I don't remember the movie well, but I do recall thinking: if I were Daniel's mother and knew about this, I would never let Daniel near Miyagi again. In fact, I think Daniel's mother never found out, did she?
Chozen kind of put them in a difficult position... not sure Miyagi or Daniel could have just walked away from that without Chozen possibly killing Kumiko. Don't think his mom knew anything past Karate Kid 1, ha!!
I bet this business with the necklace was a rough patch in Mr. Miyagi’s life that he learned from to become the wise old man Daniel loved. Remember WW2 was a no-win for the Japanese so it stands to reason Mr. Miyagi met people here who were cruel to him. Perhaps the necklace belonged to Mrs. Miyagi or Yukie and the guy told people it was his.
Miyagi's storyline is important for Daniel's arc. Daniel seems to have developed a glamorized picture of him in his memory, but hopefully he'll see that Miyagi gained this incredible wisdom from the struggles and mistakes in his past. Miyagi could have been a bit similar to Johnny...
My thing with the Devon plotline is that she was a good fighter. She could’ve proven herself to be worthy of her position this season, but the writers gave her a cheating plot. I don’t think that is a good arc for her character.

They know what they're doing with Tory as well. They've been setting up Tory getting a happy ending after Kreese adopts her and her brother since season 3. My daughter (14) called it, then. On the flip side, with Daniel stepping down and Johnny working with a baby, its obvious who'll be running Miyagi Do in a few years.
These writers know EXACTLY what they're doing. Let the spin-offs begin 😁😁😁
Trippen ^
Bet A Band , Kreese Had Something To Do With Tori’s Moms Death & All Will Go To Chaos ..
Agreed. It also parallels Johnnys arc. If he can help Tory through her tragedy and redeem Kreese, he will be the new Mr Miyagi or a version of him. Allowing Daniel to retire and Johnny taken over.
Miyagi was like Johnny and i love the parallels
Omg 😭 🥹 wonderfully put and how beautifully compact this whole show and movies are together. I love it
The way this show keeps torturing Tori tells me that she’s the main character, because wtf?!!
@@tefweebz I agree

"we're fighters now" what a line.
that one line fleshes out Tory's entire character.

The whole section around the 37:30 minute mark really makes you realize that Johnny has become more like miyagi than Daniel has
Letting Tory finish the fight win or loss gives her at least a since or power.
I assume the Miyagi story is to show Daniel its not where you start but where you finish
you mean johnny spent 30 years hating daniel
This puts a lot of context on Miyagi's lines throughout the series, of which I have quoted incessantly for the last 30+ years of my life.
"You look revenge that way, start by digging two graves."
"Never stop war by taking part in one."
"Lie becomes truth only if person want to believe it."
"Never put passion before principle. Even if win, you lose."
But at the end of the day, we can at least rule out the possibility that he was ever attacked by a tree.
Did you like The Next Karate Kid?

I think it went over a lot of people's heads. Everything about Sekai Taikai with teams of 6 of the best fighters that represents each different school instead of each different country like the (Best of the Best) movie did. Johnny even said to the group, during training; when he was reviewing different Marshall Arts movies from the '80's, "with hard work & a lot of heart maybe one day, you to can be as great as Eric Roberts."🤣
God, now that I think about it, I'm starting to show my age. F-🤬I feel old now as well. 😣
@@paulneil2524 I love that movie.
@@robmarar 🤣 It's Ok Rob, we're old, funny thing is, all the young people making fun of us have no idea what's just round the corner for them 😂😂
I think at one point Johnny was showing that movie during training. That's when he mentioned Eric Roberts..
100% agree

@@VincentAlfonso Actually I think this way Robby and Tory might still get their wish. I believe the winners will be Robby with Miyagi-do and Tory with Cobra Kai. I thought they actually hinted at her leaving when Robby initially suggested it. OMG we need a flashback scene with Miyagi at the Sekai Taikai tournament in the 1940's in like those brownish/black and white film colors. They should cast the guy that was fishing on the beach that Daniel said reminded him of Miyagi!
That would be cool
Perhaps the show will end with them dropping the name Miyagi-Do and opening a school just called something like "All-Valley Karate" or the "Johnny-Daniel House of Punch Punch."
“What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person.” -John Green
What I love about the Miyagi storyline, is that he was a good and badass fighter who maybe made mistakes in his past. He then took pity on a bullied kid and taught him karate. What a good time in to be a foil and parallel to Johnnys arc
Two points also to consider:
1) He stole his best friend's girl, which is an old-fashioned no no.
Well unfortunately Johnny didn't want that. He had some of his old teaching from Kreese

Just remember Bruce Wayne was able to find himself back to Gotham after breaking his back. Anything can happen.
So basically the reason why they're bringing this "no one is perfect" storyline now is because they are going to make a Mr. Miyagi spin off show where they are going to cover all these plot points.

Remember, it's not the quantity of training but the quality of training. That is why Daniel won those matches.
The fact that they learnt about Miyagi's past pretty recently instead of sooner shows how much Miyagi didn't want anyone to find out about it. We would've known it sooner had he told Daniel when he had the chance to.
Brett Farve is the prime example of competing after losing a parent and having a great game against the Raiders.
Yep. I remember that one well.

The way I took this storyline is that it actually makes a lot of sense.

What really sealed the deal for her to leave is what Johnny said are you sure about that
Kreese, as an Escaped Felon, goes from America to Korea, Korea to America, America to Korea, then Korea to Spain. 😂😂😂
Calling it now. Kenny and Shawn Payne are the final two fighters for cobra Kai
Shawn wouldn't want to fight in a cult that 'strike first, strike hard . No mercy' is bs and zero martial arts skills, only street gang fights
I don’t know if you heard about Chad McQueen who played as Dutch has passed away on September 11th just few weeks ago.
Sadly, we may never going to see Dutch in Cobra Kai.
Kreese pulling up i Love the smell of teenage drama and depression 😂
The entire Cobra Kai entrance was great.
I don't understand why Kreese's team only has 4 members unless that one guy is going to clear everyone out, i'd believe Kenny would show up too but thats still only 5 with a space left and no one else would make sense for that team
🤣 Why do they have to do Canada dirty like that
Ask Girl Dad Lawrence
@@brettmackey6721 did not watch that one. maybe how they get julie in
Everything for Tory was doing well; she was fitting in Miyagi-Do until Kreese showed up and most likely ruined it her. Her mom’s was doing good and then she died like a day after Tory saw Kreese. That fist though, that’s something Cobra Kai would do to her.
But yet the doctor said it was medical unless cobra kai caused it
@@loganwojtal7996 There’s many people people believing that Kreese did it because of his ego and he didn’t want to go the tournament without Tory by his side.
It would be crazy if the new Cobra Kai enforce the doctor to say it was medical while they secretly threatened the doctor’s life if she doesn’t do what they say.
@@VincentAlfonso that’s called theories/rumors until they confirm it in the show
@@VincentAlfonso but I’m not dismissing that theory, just not saying it until we got confirmation that Kreese had something to do with it
Wtf happen to chozen.
Can't Daniel just go online and find out the history of the tournament and see details about Myagi? 😊
Seem like everyone keeps neglecting that only the captains compete in the head to head tournament that will be televised. So everyone else on the team isn’t competing to fight with other dojos only the captains are. Everyone is there for the team challenges
I felt bad about torys backstory she seemed like a amazing kid just unfoutunate circumstances
Tori is always just one speed bump away from turning to the dark side.
I would love if this was the case and not be a "misunderstanding".
Johnny needs to beat Kreese's ass
My thing with the Devon plotline is that she was a good fighter. She could’ve proven herself to be worthy of her position this season, but the writers gave her a cheating plot. I don’t think that is a good arc for her character.
“Because when push comes to shove, your gonna choose her over me”
- Tory Nichols
That was Kreese in her head
@@goliathgar4985 he was right, though.
