Outstanding job dark I forgot about that neutral safety switch in the gear selector I have fixed that before though I just forgot about it. Oh and Dark...... Good God son clean that car out!
Hello sir I recently purchased this vehicle for cheap because I need transportation to get around and did this ignition switch and cylinder replacement all new switch,cylinder and keys came in copied the correct steps but unfortunately whe I go to turn off the vehicle it turns off but won’t release my key in the off position will the last part be all I need to do?
yes its simple . pull the plastic up or the rubber boot its in the video at the end and just spray the crap out of the shift lever area with wd-40 or pb blast . it should fix the issue what is going on the switch that allows you to remove the key is not engaging . more then likely due to rust or dirt . it is a mechanical switch if i remember right . not electrical . but a good lube will fix it im sure . good luck
Just an FYI. I had to use a pair of needle nose pliers to turn the contact point that allows the end of the cylinder to turn in order for this ignition to insert properly. In case anyone runs into the issue where it won’t slide in easily.
We had to have a resistor soldered into our car when the theftlock activated, all because I hooked a wire up wrong putting in an aftermarket radio, lol, Liked n Shared,. BTW I resubbd to get notifications bell on

@@betocastaneda29 it has been a long time since i had that car . but if i remember right you had to do it with your key . turn it on for so long then off for so long then on again . look up how to reprogram a 1997-2003 chevy malibu . i pretty sure we found that info on you tube as well .
if you watch the video mike you will see that sometimes when you change the ignition the fuel gauge needle will flip all the way around . then you have to kinda fish it back around to the right place .

you do have to reprogram but its easy .

What's wrong w fuel gauge. Mine is on. And it says it should start once fuel gauge reads
