  • The first three days of our Lares Trek with Mountain Lodges of Peru. We hiked to the Pisac Archaeological Park, tried cuy (guinea pig) at the Lares Lodge, visited the Calca Market, and shared bread and fruit with locals in Huacahuasi. We rounded out the first section of this amazing journey by participating in a Quechua sheep ceremony before visiting the ancient site of Pumamarca and hiking the Inka terraces to the town of Ollantaytambo where we enjoyed a game of sapo at the Cerveceria del Valle Sagrado (Sacred Valley Brewery) before calling it a night at the Willka T'ika Wellness Retreat.

    Always a bummer when you think you’re going for wine and you end up hiking 5 miles at elevation 😂 Love you guys energy as you hike!! So positive-my whole family is about to travel to Peru to hike the Inca trail and I guarantee they won’t all have your spirit 🤣

      Haha thanks! Yes our travels usually include less hiking and a lot more wine! 🤣 I just glanced at your channel and I'm excited to check it out! Jordan is on our short list! Thanks for the subscribe!

      @@kindaclassytravel we loved Jordan-one of the best vacations we’ve had to date BUT to be fair a lot more hiking and a lot less wine there too 🤣 would love to stay connected as we plan our trip to Peru! Happy to pay it back by answering any questions you have on Jordan!

    Amazing trip! I liked your experience and would like to follow your steps. Could you give a link of the company which organizes this tour. I am planning to go to South America in fall 2022.

    Thanks so much for posting this (and we look forward to the next video too)! We are strongly considering this exact tour (literally the exact one by MLP), so your videos are very helpful and interesting. It looks great. In case you see this comment and are willing to respond: Did you love the tour (and MLP), and would you recommend it? And also, do you think this tour would be good for kids (we are a family of 4, and the kids are adventurous/athletic and will be 14 and 16). 👍 🙏

      Hi! That is great! I would say yes definitely, especially if your kids are athletic. The altitude is no joke though, they are going to be more tired than usual. But the fact that you can choose an active path or a less active path each day makes it manageable. Our guides Heidi and Admil were exceptional, lodges were simple but fantastic, food was healthy and varied. Honestly, I would do it again in a heartbeat! (One note though: if anyone is susceptible to motion sickness, be prepared with meds. Roads and backwards train rides were tough for some in our group.)

      @@kindaclassytravel Thanks for the helpful info! We are still in the planning stages, but we definitely intend to incorporate at least 1 full day (2 nights) in Cusco pre-trip to help us acclimatize to the altitude. We may come 2 days early (3 nights) if there’s enough to do in and around Cusco. Otherwise, we’re thinking 1 day (1 night) in Lima and then 1 day (2 nights) in Cusco before the trip starts.

    Thanks for posting! I’m planning a tour with them for May and need to decide which one to take. I love strenuous hikes and exploring. Which tour did you take and what suggestions or recommendations do you have? Thanks so much.

    • @kindaclassytravel
      @kindaclassytravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh so excited for you! You will not be disappointed! I might not be the best to answer this question because I felt like just about everything we did at 12,000 feet felt like strenuous hiking. 🤣 We did the 5 day Lares Trek and it was a perfect mix of culture and hiking for our group. The good thing about MLP is that they really tailor the experience to what you want. Some of our group would ride in the van and visit a cultural site while the others would hike. Also, after they noticed what wusses we were they changed some of the hikes around to make them less strenuous. I'm sure they could do the opposite too. One thing we wish we did was spend an extra night at Machu Picchu. The Inkaterra hotel is unbelievable and we wished we had another day at Machu Picchu.

      @@kindaclassytravel Thanks so much! I feel better about my choice in going with them now as I haven’t compared their tour company with others. I am going to now go at the beginning of November to get the off season rate on the Salkanty tour and will get the extra night at Machu Picchu. I so appreciate your help with sharing your experience!

    Can you tell me a little bit more about buying fruit/food and giving it to villagers along the way? Is that expected/part of the tour, or was that just something extra your group did? We're doing this MLP tour in May...

    • @kindaclassytravel
      @kindaclassytravel  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We elected to drive instead of hike to Huacauasi, so we had extra time to stop at the market and then take a walk through town in the evening. MLP is super accommodating so I'm sure if you mentioned that you're interested in that experience they will make it happen! Enjoy!
