Such a great variety of projects. It was always hard for me to say goodbye to projects too, but the reality is that there is only so much time - so don’t feel bad. I watched while eating breakfast today.
Currently I am displaced and I am watching floss tube videos with my traveling kits. I absolutely love your collection of WIPs and please don’t beat yourself up over not being able to spend more time on them. Life always stands in the way and it’s up to us how to work around it, especially as creators and designers. I have several enormous projects and at first I felt so terrible that they didn’t get as much attention as my medium to small ones. Now as I’ve gotten older those big ones have become my cherished cross stitch time projects no matter how small the progress it’s still progress and the medium to small ones are just my fun time creations. Again Lovely WIPs and nice to meet you. My travel WIPs are piggies 🐷 for my mom who is absolutely addicted to pigs 😊
Playing catch-up with all my floss tube friends it just got over whelming during the holidays. Enjoyed seeing all your beautiful projects. Have a wonderful day and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
For my large full coverage project I put 250 stitches in it every day before I work on something else. Once I've finished it (somewhere in 2024) I'll probably pick my oldest WIP and do the same This way I see progress on my old WIPS. Happy new year
I enjoyed seeing your wips, and wow are you ever organized! My advice is to just put away what you are not in love with. I recently pulled out a cross stitch from 1991 (seriously!) and I love it again and am finishing it for my Mom's birthday. You just never know when the love will come back!
I have really enjoyed your wip parade. What beautiful patterns you are working on. As for your Disney dogs I would love to buy it from you if you decide you really don’t want to continue it. Sometimes we don’t realise how much work is involved in our projects and other ones call to us more. Don’t worry about it as you aren’t the first one to feel this way. Love and blessings x
The Disney dogs…make ornaments of what is done and then use the rest of the material for a new start because it is so pretty. I am working on a full coverage Northern Lights picture while I watch. Nicely flowing wip parade!
I accidentally came across you today and what a breathe of fresh air! I feel much better as I did not finish one project last year.. I have 18 pieces going presently and may work on them perhaps one week and loose interest. Then I change to another piece. I do not work hours on the pieces, so that is just one reason I never finish mine. All my projects are large and I have stitched slowly as my eye sight has deteriorated for one year due to cataracts. That is behind me now since surgery is over. I really enjoyed watching your chosen projects. Keep up the good work.
@@StitchesByShelby Approximately how many hours a day do you stitch? I get one hour early in the morning while I am drinking my coffee. The breakfast and my day starts. This is the best reason none of my projects get accomplished. I am retired and you would think I could stitch all day. NOT. Love your sweater-a great job. All i do is crocheting, needlepoint, quilting, and tatting. Have a great week.
No stitching while watching your video. Eating breakfast before starting my day 😅 But I am currently working on Modern Folk Embroidery's Quaker Medallion Bird in a Grapevine design. I think you should let the dog pattern go especially if you aren't feeling it or it isn't your style anymore. You can always use the fabric and floss for something else. Unsure about the flosstube friends pattern. Don't force yourself to finish it just because you have a cute idea for finishing. Have a happy new year!!
Can I just say that every second design you show, I m screaming - I need to stitch this too!❤❤❤ I think your wip parade is my favorite so far in the whole community. About Disney dogs, why not cut them out, you can make them into patches on clothes, pins, even Christmas tree decorations. And repurpose that beautiful fabric. Don’t beat yourself up over the spent money. Maybe one day you will find a use for this pattern, and will be able to stitch it. Looking back on all my stashed patterns that I m not so eager to stitch anymore, I tell myself, they are waiting for the right time. And also the money went to people and help them. We spend on food more and it only lasts one meal.
i just found your channel through my recommended videos, and I'm so glad I clicked it! I was needing something to listen to while I worked on my Stitchrovia project I'm making for an anniversary gift. I'll definitely be watching more!
You have many gorgeous projects and you have definitely enabled me! There goes my stitchy spending ban 😂 You have many projects on dark fabric. I take my hat off to you with those! 🎉 Looking forward to your next episode! 🌹❤️
Hi Shelby! If a project isn't making you happy it's time for it to go! 😉 I forgot that you were working on Woodland Christmas too! Last year I started working on a bigger project that I wanted to get done on Mondays and Tuesdays. When I finished I put a different piece in that slot. I plan on doing the same this year. It helped me get finishes while still leaving plenty of time to stitch other things.
That is a good idea, I might give that a try! I keep getting sucked down a project rabbit hole and I don’t want to work on anything else 😂 but choosing just a day or two seems manageable!
It’s always such a joy when I find a flosstuber who has the exact same stitchy style as me! I absolutely love all your wips and you’ve introduced me to some lovely designers. Happy new year!🥰
Like so many others I also fell in love with Pandemic. I started it on April 1st, 2022, and I’m now about 80% finished, using a single color, DMC 321 Red, on a splotchy 32 count linen I can’t remember the name of at the moment. I was also considering not starting because it seemed so huge and I didn’t want it to be a lifetime project. Luckily I watched the Flosstube video by Julie Nicely who finished her Pandemic in, I believe, 8 months, which gave me the impetus to start. Using just one color helps A LOT, as does the fact that it’s a sampler, which means it has lots of unstitched areas in between the motifs. Really, about half of it is unstitched area, from Julie’s Patternkeeper tally. I suppose the biggest help for me is that I’m a monogamous stitcher and only stitch on one project at a time. That, of course, does not apply to you so it will take you longer most likely, but it does stitch up faster than you might think as most samplers do. I guess I’m hoping you won’t get too discouraged if you really like the pattern. It is gorgeous, isn’t it?! Good luck and I really enjoyed your WIP parade!
End of the day doing work at my office job and you so remind me to the Museum Stitcher , you are both young and wildly enthusiastic and I love that!! Happy New Year and I hope it is wonderful for you in all ways! from Iowa
Enjoyed your video and seeing all your projects. I agree i have too many going on but your count beats me. I’ve bee stitching for years and only this year decided i better set some goals to see some real progress. Bye the bye - i was watching your video as i was driving to work this morning. Better than listening to the radio.😅
Just found your flosstube and have now subscribed! Thank you so much for sharing your WIPs, plans, and dreams with the world! I worked on a new project while watching this view called "Snow Angel!"
I was building an ikea dresser while watching your video. Beautiful projects. If the disney dogs are no longer calling to you I would repurpose the fabric and move on. You can turn the 2 dogs you have stitched into a small pillow or ornament to keep. Happy stitching.
I thought the same about Wingo and other challenges like it with wips since I don't really have enough wips to cover a board it would be hard to participate. I also mostly stitch what fits my mood each day. Love seeing what you are stitching.
I share Sue’s opinion, if it doesn’t bring u joy then stop doing it, that Marie Kondo thing. I am working on Prairie Schooler Santas for next year. Quick, small and satisfying 😊 Love all your projects btw😊!!
I was stitching on "Van Gogh was Never Abducted" from UnconventionalXStitch on Etsy while watching. I'd like to second what other people have said about Disney Dogs. I would make ornaments out of the 2 you've already finished and any others you have an emotional attachment to. Then salvage the rest of the pretty fabric for another project. For big projects like Long Dog and HAED: What's helped me is to take it in smaller bites. Make more tiny goals instead of one big goal. Don't think about it as finishing the project as a whole. Turn on the page lines in PAttern Keeper. Back when i used paper patterns If a page overwhelmed me, i'd cut it in half or quarters and suddenly it became doable. Also, regularly look at pics of the finished piece. Get excited to stitch something that is 2 or 3 pages away. That helps me get motivated to get there.
I think on the bigger projects (if you don't do this already) if you give yourself goals within the projects that might be helpful. That way when you complete those little sections or number of stitches it feels like a finish. Also I say if it doesn't bring you joy, let it go. Your time is more precious than the dollars wasted.
Thanks for the advice! Smaller goals are a great idea and gives a natural break point for the project if I’m feeling ready to move on. Happy stitching!
Hi Shelby, you’re keeping me company while I’m working in my home office lol, so thanks for that! My only goal for 2023 is to finish my contessa with squid by May (before my wedding) and to start a new full coverage project and a long dog sampler after. Lots of fun changes in my life in 2023, so we’ll see how much stitching I get done. Loved watching your video, as always 🥰
Loved seeing all your WIPS. I just discovered you through Stitches with Cait, who is also a new FlossTuber to me. I am watching you while working on Autumn in my Garden by Mirabilia.
Hi Shelby, I think Lucky Chance sent us? I busted out laughing on DNF'ing. It just sounded dirty and that amused me! I'm going to have to use that! Don't stress about the dogs & cats. Pack up nicely and revisit in the future.
New to your channel. Your works are pretty. I’m working on Ash and Ginger January cross stitch and a floral sea turtle I just need to finish back stitching. New to floss tube videos and picked up cross stitching in 2021 again. Love watching whip parade videos now.
Omg I need to start Moonglow. it's on my list. I'm newer to stitching. I've only been regularly stitching since 2021. I just did a spin on 23 new starts for 2023 where in lieu of new starts, I marathon stitched for 30 minutes - 1 hour on each WIP. I have 11 WIPS and actually suited this marathon out over 2 days. My research has shown me that just doing that made me fall in love with some of my projects I haven't touched since 2021. I'm watching this video and stitching Dark Queen of the Earth by Autumn Lane. it's pattern keeper compatible now!
Oh I like the marathon idea! Sometimes you just need to spend some time with a project to appreciate it again. I love the dark queen patterns and YAY for pattern keeper compatibility- game changer!
Your projects are beautiful and will look amazing I love nora corbet designs as well I did autumn angel last year and am doing winter angel while I watch your you tube chanel
I would also love tips on working on bigger projects, because I'm having trouble finishing them, even though they are the ones I'm mostly drawn to. In 2023 I'm going to try to set goals for a few of them. I don't like giving up on WIPS, but I agree that if working on a project becomes a chore, maybe it's time to let it go. I'm working on the Flower Fairies Alphabet Sampler by DMC, which is a very old WIP; right now it's getting nowhere fast, so I'm going to try to work on it one or two days a month in 2023. Happy new year!
So far the tips I’ve gotten are to set smaller goals so that when you achieve them that gives you that “finish feeling,” pick one or two days a week to work on a big project, and work on it for a little while before working on any other project. I’m going to try a few different things and see what sticks! Happy stitching!
I watched your video while I did my makeup and got ready for work. I really enjoyed seeing your progress. I am about to walk away from a Disney Villains piece for the same reason! How do such small icons absorb so many stitches!?!?! 😣😂
I was working on my Egypt mandala Chatelaine and for me, I usually only stitch big projects. I give myself a section to stitch either in the day or week, so I’ll say something like I want to complete this basket of flowers or this cow. But my pieces that I want to complete stay in a basket close by so I know those are the ones I get to chose from to work on. I have about 12 going presently and 3 are Chatelaines so they are going to take time, but I love seeing the progress.
I would love to stitch a chatelaine someday- they are so beautiful! Great idea to keep the projects close at hand. I don’t store floss with my projects but maybe I should for the ones I want to put stitches into.
Hi Shelby. Thank you for a great wip parade. I was stitching The Joy of Winter free pattern from Stitches Through The Years while watching your video. I remember you used a particular method to finish stitching the wolves a few years ago that worked very well for you. Perhaps try that stitching method with these older projects. Happy New Year.
Yes, I was SO GOOD about working on the wolves for 30 minutes a day and it’s amazing how much progress you get by doing that! I just can’t quite seem to make it stick again, but I think that if I can get back on that train that’s a fantastic way to make a lot of progress without feeling like it’s the only thing you’re working on. Happy stitching!
Great job on your knitted sweater. I’m in the process of making a knitted anchor tee(but it’s on time out right now) i am cross stitching the “mother and cult” by dimensions. Right now while watching your video I’m laying down in bed, chilling out with my canine and feline family!
Hi Shelby Watching wip parades while working on a thrift store bought kit for a small Christmas table cloth. Might switch To my Dark queen of the Earth which I am behind on though. Love the finishes in your background.
I’m of the opinion that if a project isn’t bringing you joy, let it go. You’ll use the fabric and floss for other projects, so the sunken costs aren’t that great. And your time is also a precious commodity - why waste it when there are so many other wonderful patterns just waiting to be stitched?!? I stitched on the Dark Queen of the Earth while watching. I’m about to be 3 parts behind on the SAL, so I’m making some concerted efforts to catch up!
Hi hello! New subscriber :) My current main WIPs are - 1.) Alien/Bigfoot pattern from Happy Little Mouse on Etsy 2.) A few different mini artworks from The Stitch Patterns on Etsy 3.) A wholllleee bunch of others that only get worked on every few years. I try not to get to discouraged but I always let myself stop if I'm not enjoying a pattern any more. I may go back to it one day, I may not.
I made huge progress on Needles Dance, so thank you. For the larger projects, I like to set myself a goal like a page finish, etc, or use them for 25/7. But to be honest, I DNF a LOT of my larger starts. 😬😬
Great Projects! I will root you on to continue Pandemic! You have put so much into it already. I am starting my NYE12x12 as we type and working on Frozen by DoNa Stitch. Happy Stitching!
Maybe 2 threads a day on the longdog sampler? I start my day with 2 threads on my project that is big. Just do the dogs of disney the ones hou like😍 love youre flosstube
You could make ornaments or small framed pieces out of the two Disney dogs you’ve finished. Then you have a finish and you can use the rest of that beautiful fabric for another piece. I am about to bring out Pandemic to work on today. I don’t think I’ve touched it this year, and I want to be able to say that I worked on it every year of the Pandemic.
Thanks for the advice! I think I’m going to stitch one more dog (Dug) and call it finished. I wish I had gotten to Pandemic this year! What color(s) are you doing yours in?
For the Disney dog piece I would finish it and donate it to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital there in Grand Rapids. My granddaughter was a patient there when she was 3 years old. The kids would love looking at that piece while there. They have a wonderful family center for families who have to be there. Just a thought. I am working in a piece called What Cancer Cannot Do and I plan to donate it to the cancer center where I go every 3 weeks for infusions.
Love the WIP parade and super excited for your channel! I had a similar conversation with @boogiestitcher, maybe you could do a round robin and drawing to send DNF to others who might like them? Anyhow I’m gonna go binge your videos now 😂❤
I love that not having a cross stitch project on hand is considered an emergency 😂. I say dnf projects that don’t bring you joy! I feel better when I do, also for big projects I feel like it can help to put it away and rediscover it which helps me stitch a lot when I find it again, but also 30 min/day doesn’t work for me. Whatever is best for you! Happy new year! 🎆
Nice WIP parade 🎉 I was working on a knitting project (hat) and I think you should cut out the two finished dogs (send them to me 😇) and use the rest of the fabric to make something you love. Time is to short to work on pieces we don’t like anymore.
Just found your channel from frizzy Lizzy stitches she raves about you! So of course I had to go watch!! I’m working on a gift for a friend who’s birthday is 1/31 this is definitely motivating
Pumping while watching😅 I’m doing WIPGO for the first time this year. Actually both of my Jan pulls you know of- a finish on Stars Bright by Lindy Stitches (did you either stitch this or you want to??) and 7 hours on that fall harbor one on silk gauze I got when we went :) Lately once something is in the Q snap I work til it’s done- mainly because I’m lazy lol.. just pick it up and stitch.
I planned to start Stars Bright last June and still haven’t 😂 I love the fall harbor one, can’t wait to see your progress on it! I can’t believe that was almost a year ago!
Nice projects! I am working on Threadwork Primitives' All American Finn. :) Maybe the dogs you stitched can be made into ornaments and the remaining fabric re-purposed?
Thinking of your Dogs of Disney piece... Things look best when arranged in an odd number, so is there any ay to push through and finish a 3rd dog? Then you could just frame those three and gift it to someone with a little kid?
Our time is worth a lot more than fabric and floss. If you aren't loving the dogs, or any project, let it go rather than just sinking more value into a piece you've grown out of.
I think I would frog the Disney dogs or else cut out and FFO what you've done so far. The fabric is too beautiful to NOT stitch on and you've already invested the money on it so you might as well use it for something else!!
Your sweetness and youth shine's through as a becon for other young stitcher's of today. To find their joy within themself's and they will be so happy and looking for that needle and thread for their comfort in this confused world. God bless you shelby🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌱🫖☕

Thank you so much!
Seriously, the motifs are so small but take so long 😂😂
I’m new to your channel. Loved your video and projects! As far as what I was doing while watching, I was completely vegged out in a recliner! 😅
Haha I love that! Thank you ❤️❤️
I was working on my Egypt mandala Chatelaine and for me, I usually only stitch big projects.
Just found your channel....such fun! I was having a sleepless night while watching your video. Pandemic is beautiful, please continue with that!!
Oof, sending sleepy energy your way, those nights can be tough! I do love Pandemic ❤️
Happy New Year Shelby! 🎉 Great WIP Parade! 😊
Thank you!!
Love the frog!
Thank you!
Great job on your knitted sweater. I’m in the process of making a knitted anchor tee(but it’s on time out right now) i am cross stitching the “mother and cult” by dimensions. Right now while watching your video I’m laying down in bed, chilling out with my canine and feline family!
Thank you! I love dimensions. Give your fur babies some pets from me! ❤️
I’m working on bothy threads cut thru dolls house Looking forward to wipgo my first time ❤
Woohoo, let’s WIPGO! (I apologize for the terrible pun 😂)
Hi Shelby
Watching wip parades while working on a thrift store bought kit for a small Christmas table cloth. Might switch To my Dark queen of the Earth which I am behind on though.
Love the finishes in your background.
Thanks so much!
This is such great advice, thank you. Life is too short to work on projects you aren’t loving.
Hi hello! New subscriber :)
My current main WIPs are -
1.) Alien/Bigfoot pattern from Happy Little Mouse on Etsy
2.) A few different mini artworks from The Stitch Patterns on Etsy
3.) A wholllleee bunch of others that only get worked on every few years.
I try not to get to discouraged but I always let myself stop if I'm not enjoying a pattern any more. I may go back to it one day, I may not.
I had never seen Happy Little Mouses patterns before and they are SO CUTE, I just added a bunch to my wishlist! And I love The Stitch Patterns!
I made huge progress on Needles Dance, so thank you.
For the larger projects, I like to set myself a goal like a page finish, etc, or use them for 25/7. But to be honest, I DNF a LOT of my larger starts. 😬😬
It’s hard to stay motivated, I love a finish 😂 thanks for the tips!
Hi . I do a lot of projects too. While I was watching your video I was knitting myself a flax sweater from tin can knits.
Flax is a classic! Happy knitting ❤️
I'm also doing Rainbow Garden! I just started it for my new year, new start! :)
It’s such a good one!! Happy stitching!
Great Projects! I will root you on to continue Pandemic! You have put so much into it already. I am starting my NYE12x12 as we type and working on Frozen by DoNa Stitch. Happy Stitching!
Thank you- I’m going to give pandemic another year before officially decide! If I work on it this year it’ll be saved lol. Happy stitching!
Maybe 2 threads a day on the longdog sampler? I start my day with 2 threads on my project that is big. Just do the dogs of disney the ones hou like😍 love youre flosstube
Thank you so much! Two threads a day is a great idea!
@@StitchesByShelby I’m doing it in a purple Silks 4 You on PTP Mellow.
That’s a great though, thank you Mary!
Love the WIP parade and super excited for your channel! I had a similar conversation with @boogiestitcher, maybe you could do a round robin and drawing to send DNF to others who might like them? Anyhow I’m gonna go binge your videos now 😂❤
Also I was stitching a Rick and Morty piece I am along for my uncle as ‘23 Xmas 😂
Thank you so much! ❤️
I for real do not know what other people do with their down time 😂
Thank you for the advice!
Great video! I worked on The First Thanksgiving by Twin Peak Primitives while watching!
Thank you!
Nice WIP parade 🎉 I was working on a knitting project (hat) and I think you should cut out the two finished dogs (send them to me 😇) and use the rest of the fabric to make something you love. Time is to short to work on pieces we don’t like anymore.
Thank you for the advice! I’ll let you know if I decide to pass the dogs along!
I’m impressed by how much progress you’ve made with all your wips. I also loved your sweater - did you make it? If so, your finishing is excellent 😄😄
I did make the sweater, thank you so much! It’s a new favorite ❤️
Just found your channel from frizzy Lizzy stitches she raves about you! So of course I had to go watch!! I’m working on a gift for a friend who’s birthday is 1/31 this is definitely motivating
Thank you, I love Elizabeth! Happy stitching ❤️
I’ve been waiting for this video! I love seeing all your projects! I was working on finishing my 2022 Temperature Crochet Blanket!
Thank you so much! Good for you for keeping up with a temp blanket!
Cross stitching ❤
❤️❤️
I'm almost done making a dog leash with paracord and then will start a shorter one.
Very cool, I love that you’re making accessories for your pets!
I’m working on a Mario wedding sampler for my husband and I !!
Adorable! I would really like to stitch a wedding sampler, maybe this year 😂
You have such beautiful projects going! I am working on the Once Upon A Time Sampler by Frosted Pumpkin… my biggest project yet!
I love the frosted pumpkins! (Although I have yet to stitch any of their pieces 😂)
I'm stitching Midnight Ride by Autumn Lane Stichery...
Such a gorgeous one!
Nice projects! I am working on Threadwork Primitives' All American Finn. :) Maybe the dogs you stitched can be made into ornaments and the remaining fabric re-purposed?
Thank you!
ink circles tangled fire in sulky
❤️❤️❤️
Hi just subscribed. I am stitching on Springtime Blossom
Thank you!
😍 my goals to have only 30 wips... maybe by 2025 🤣
Woohoo, good luck!
I would love to stitch disney dogs i love your channel
Thank you!
I’m stitching on Let Freedom Ring by Lila’s Studio.
Ooh I hadn’t seen that one before! Hope you’re enjoying it! ❤️
@@StitchesByShelby I love it, I’m a history buff so it’s right up my alley - but it’s HUGE.
Thinking of your Dogs of Disney piece... Things look best when arranged in an odd number, so is there any ay to push through and finish a 3rd dog? Then you could just frame those three and gift it to someone with a little kid?
This is a great idea, thank you! I do really want to stitch Dug ❤️
It’s criminal how little I have done on Kristin the Arctic Mermaid! I forgot how gorgeous she is 😭
She’s so good, I don’t know why I haven’t pulled her out!
I am working on floral dream the sister chart to moon glow!
That one is gorgeous too!
Currently working on Heaven and Earth Designs "Mini Blue Rose" by Laura Prindle. I'm at 9.24%
Woohoo! 🎉
How about a Sunday stitch for Pandemic?
Oh interesting, I might give that a try!
Maybe try one day a week for the bigger projects if the 30min a day wasn’t working for you.
Thank you!
🦌🌲🐿🐢🐌
❤️❤️❤️
Our time is worth a lot more than fabric and floss. If you aren't loving the dogs, or any project, let it go rather than just sinking more value into a piece you've grown out of.
That is a great perspective and you’re absolutely right ❤️
I think I would frog the Disney dogs or else cut out and FFO what you've done so far. The fabric is too beautiful to NOT stitch on and you've already invested the money on it so you might as well use it for something else!!
Thank you for the encouragement!
