To clarify the references you didn't get:
Khe Sanh is a song by Australian band, Cold Chisel and if you're at a pub and the song starts playing you can be sure there will be a fair number of Patrons singing along.
The All Blacks are New Zealand's national rugby union side, and are Australia's traditional rivals. The two teams play for the Bledisloe cup every year, and New Zealand have over the years been the dominant side.
I love your posts, and appreciate the interest and insights you have about some of the more unusual aspects of Australian culture. I always enjoy hearing what you have to say.

Khe Sanh is also referred to as the unofficial Australian national Anthem. Before the Sydney Olympics, more Aussies knew the words to Khe Sanh than the actual National Anthem.

Yeah, New Zealand is very un Australian, WA failed to be unAustralian hard enough and ended having to join the Commonwealth, Fiji was too unAustralian and did there own thing too.
The All Black's are thus very unAustralian, being a Kiwi rugby team with great mana.

@@davidhedgcock8690 I just tried to write out the lyrics to Khe Sanh from memory and got about 5 words wrong and even those were close.
Feeling really bloody good about myself, not gunna lie.
I have to admit, I have mixed feelings about the song, it's top notch, don't get me wrong, but Chisel just got overplayed so much during the 80s and 90s that have an instinctual groan reflex when I hear it.
      Same goes for Farnsey,
Farnsey and Barnsey, love 'em, but really just don't want to hear them anymore.
Still, while I groan, I will of course still belt the lyrics out to any chisel tune if I happen to encounter it in the wild.

4:46 We had some blokes from Malaysia here building and they would throw out the beetroot in their smoko. I don't know if they had seen it before but they did not like it. Real beetroot is sweet but the canned one is full of salt and vinegar. Pineapple on everything else ;) Salty ham then any sweet tropical fruit with it. The true sweet and sour sauce Japanese style is equal parts. For quantity 1 tbsp white vinegar, 1 tbsp sugar, 1tbsp good quality soy sauce. When you taste it it should mess with your senses. Tune the mix to taste. It does mess with you the sweet the sour and the salt. I once left it in a pot for 3 days and nothing happened it is all preservative. My ancestors owned a pub and the Japanese chef used to make it this way and I learnt from my Mother. All other sweet and sour sauces are just okay.

In one location studied to establish the amount of bait dropped per square kilometre that had a healthy population of around 600 Dingoes from established packs before aerial baiting. I made some blue jelly for the kids in a big tub and put jelly frogs in it so there is frogs in the pool. It was going to be jelly babies but babies in the pool might not survive and be seen to be bad . Snakes in the pool is on the other side of bad so frogs it is. Have a great Australia day. Eggs and tomatoes would be a luxury right now then the potatoes. My okra is up but has not flowered yet, a bit late.

All Blacks is the NZ Rugby Union team. There's a little, tiny, bit of rivalry between Aus & NZ about sport (and everything else, for that matter). The joke from both sides of the ditch is "I go for two teams, Australia and whoever is playing against New Zealand". Flip it for their side.
Tall Poppy Syndrome is where people automatically pull down those who have a measure of success. This same behavior is seen in a number of cultures around the world. It's tied into the idea of acting above your station. It's real, although many try to deny it. Take Kylie Minogue, one of the greatest singing stars to come out of Australia. She was despairingly called "The Singing Budgie" early on in her career and is still called it to today.
Personally I think it's tied to our 'cultural cringe' where we (as a nation) never got over the idea that we're second rate, that Australian Culture could never rival 'the old country's' culture.

Khe Sanh, is to Australians as Don McClean's American Pie is to Americans. All Blacks, a NZ rugby team are to Australians as Toronto Blue Jays were to Americans in 92 and 93. Except when it comes to the All Blacks, for Australians, it's ground hog day.

Oh Kaitlyn! The All Blacks are the NZ Rugby National team. They are traditionally very good. The only thing wrong with them is that they never, EVER let us beat them, even though we are 6 times their size as a nation. It is a bit like Canada vs US in ice hockey, if Canada always wins.

Sam has been on the lamp for years with these adds, even the epic fails became legendary.
Saying Unsustralian is probably the only time the average piston headed, BBQ burning bundy swilling, 5 front teeth missing bogan will pronounce Australia correctly.
Wouldn't be stralian to say unaustralian like un a stra lin..

If you do something that hurts someone else, like cheating or any bad behaviour etc. We consider that 'UnAustralian' - think of how Aussies are - any action that contradicts who we are as people is considered UnAustralian....I liked last years ad better...but this one is funny too. All Blacks are the Kiwi's footy team...He cheered them on - UnAustralian! Haha

We have infected you with Aussie too much not to try and perfect you. Lotsa love from a long time fan kid, keep up the great work. BTW forget about the All Blacks. They don't count, they are Kiwis. Hahahaha - that will get some of them wound up!

As for our flag I'm amazed it's lasted as long as it has although displaying our national flag is now considered racist in many circles.

um isn't ironic that you say last years was tasteless, cause it wasn't PC, but you want to see non-PC ones? I loved last year's one, that's what makes Australia great, that we can laugh even in the face of adversity
& you probably should watch & react to Khe Sanh & Jimmy Barnes if you don't know who he is/what that song is :)
