    What happened to the back nine?

  • @Chris.Davies
    @Chris.Davies 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Young Cameron, despite looking like he was arrested in his mugshot, has one of the straightest pulls in the game. So if you are wondering why he's there, on the top card at worlds, it's because of that straight pull. Ricky's photo makes him look like the guy who drives the Free Candy van. Thanks CCDG!

    who down-votes a CCDG video??? Are you out of your mind? Ian and Corey (sorry if I misspelled the names) are one of, if not the best disc golf photographers/commentators of disc golf! Pardon me but, that's absolutely ludicrous. And what's going on with the round 3 part 2 video? They removed it? :(((

    • @nherrema1
      @nherrema1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably upset they can't watch lead card on Jomez. Having the actual pro's commentating is alot better than Ian and Corey tbh. (I didn't downvote for the record)

    • @TAStormChasing
      @TAStormChasing 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      nherrema1 Have to disagree. Like CCDG better then most pro commentary. I find myself less interested in watching while some pros ramble on. I liked both production videos though.

    • @nathanmiske231
      @nathanmiske231 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every other pro sport uses a professional commentator, with a former professional athlete of the sport. This provides the right balance of great insights with someone who is good at speaking. That is why something like Ian with Nate Sexton is perfect. I really like Ian and Corey though as well.

    • @abehasinski2622
      @abehasinski2622 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't get me wrong... I love Jomez Productions because they have great footage and pro commentary because, like you said, it's great to hear firsthand experienced insight on the game; however, I like to hear people comment who give a more relatable perspective. I am not a pro, I am barely even an amateur. I love the fun side of disc golf that CCDG brings in every single one of their videos. Big Sexy and Big JERMany commentary is both funny and awesome especially because they are relaxed and have a good time; however, my connection to their sentiments is a bit lost sometimes because I can't relate to their experience. IDK..... both are great but, my point is... No CCDG coverage is video worth a down vote. I can't see the logic. But hey, that's just me I suppose :/

    • @abehasinski2622
      @abehasinski2622 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an understandable perspective that I can appreciate. However, regardless of opinion, I don't believe ANY CCDG video is worth a down vote. They aren't just some pros smashing on chips and coke in an air conditioned room commenting on an event. They actually get out there, follow the cards, bust their BUTTS to get you great footage, do the editing and commentary, AND bring it all to you for *FREE* on TH-cam only DAYS after the event! Even if the commentary isn't "your cup of tea", everyone in the disc golf community should be subscribing and up voting so they can get more money from TH-cam so they can continue to bring the phenomenal footage of a sport we all love. I subscribe and up vote Jomez's and SpinTv's videos too. They all deserve our support is my point. Not down votes lol.

  • @notbhavn
    @notbhavn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I believe that John E needs to work on dealing with distractions. Disc golf needs spectators, which brings in advertising. As disc golf gets bigger, the distractions will get worse. Many of his missed putts had no one in the background either.

      just lol @ "Johne McCray needs to learn to putt.
      I bet he could make any one of us look like we've never putt before

    • @morgan-jadeironworks8313
      @morgan-jadeironworks8313 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kyle Weir well thats probably true.... so maybe he should be playing against us instead of the pros. the issue is not him missing putts its him blaming everybody and but himself for those missed putts. all the other players had the same distractions. McCray also should have said something about the issue BEFORE!!!!! he putted. What was killing him was that he just could not keep pace with Ricky.

    • @kyleweir689
      @kyleweir689 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol I'm just saying it's hilarious to say "McCray needs to learn to putt." He's one of the most consistent putters out there. It goes in.
      But you're right... I believe these pros should have better nerves than to have a spectator standing behind the basket rattle them enough to blame the missed putt on it.

  • @CB-rv2lj

    Rick always goes to the forehand when he knows the game is on the line. take notes folks.

    • @destiny-crew
      @destiny-crew 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The forehand has less variables, not to mention you don't have to take your eyes off the target. I like using a backhand merely for distance ... and putting obviously.

  • @AdamBeliles
    @AdamBeliles 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bet when Johne is playing a casual round by himself, he's blaming squirrels and birds on his missed putts. He's a really great player but I wouldn't be surprised if other pros hate seeing that they're gonna be on his card.

    Johnny foot fault on hole 9 first putt. Many questions about his putting the last few days. Hole 9 his release wasn't just after stepping off his lie, it was after he hit his next step. Great respect for him and the awesome play, but his putts are way out of bounds.

    Spectators moving is no different than people from another card moving on another hole....you need to mentally block that out. ricky's not having a problem nor is anyone else with it. I think you're giving him excuses.

  • @lawrencewenthen6810
    @lawrencewenthen6810 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    It happened on multiple holes. He's blaming people that are nowhere near the basket. Even if they are in sight, its not like they're dancing around making faces at him, they're just standing there, moving just as much as the trees behind the basket are moving. The guy doesn't seem very professional in the way he carries himself, and im sure tons of other players can be named that have a higher level of class and sportsmanship. You have guys like Drew Gibson that are up and coming and can play with the best of them, and he seems like he is just genuinely having fun, talking to the other players and joking around to a certain extent where it's appropriate. Nobody likes playing with a guy who can't handle his own mistakes like McCray.

  • @TheNothingsOriginal

    I don't like so many "fairway obstacles" for a world championship. Tree kicks and luck become too big a factor.

    • @cthr33po
      @cthr33po 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheNothingsOriginal avoiding trees when there are clear cut fairways is skill, not luck. Miss your line - get punished. Much better test of skill having a 700 ft tight wooded par 5 than a 900+ ft par 5 with 3 obstacles and/or water.

    • @TheNothingsOriginal
      @TheNothingsOriginal 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with your point in a vacuum, but when you watch the top players in the world have mixed results from hole to hole... it's kind of not fun to watch.

  • @HarveyDent523
    @HarveyDent523 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Really disappointed in the format this year. Only four rounds (I know it's nearly the same amount of golf) but that's what makes Worlds different. It's as much of a tournament as it is an endurance race. And these courses are as much poke and prey as they are pure skill. W.R. Jackson was a perfect course before all the changes. Am I the only one with a bad taste in their mouth with this event?

    • @Jesterian
      @Jesterian 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher McCabe poke and pray i.e. Throw your disc where the trees aren't? As long as there's a hole larger than a disc, there's no such thing as too tight. Everyone is playing the same course.

    • @2headstalking
      @2headstalking 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      THAT'S THE NATURE OF A WOODED COURSE. YOU CAN'T JUST BOMB IT AND RELY ON BRUTE DISTANCE. YOU HAVE TO LEARN ACCURACY, PRECISION AND DECIDING IF IT'S BEST TO RISK A PARTICULAR SHOT. I LOVE TIGHT WOODED COURSES, AND I PARTICULARLY LOVE TO WATCH THE 'GREAT' PLAYERS HUMBLED BY THE TREES. OR IN THE WORDS OF OUR LOCALS. TREENIED..

    JOHNNY MCCRAY NEEDS TO SUCK IT UP AND QUIT BLAMING THE GALLERY AND EVERYONE ELSE FOR HIS MENTAL RELAPSES. YOU GOTTA FOCUS ON YOUR GAME AND NOT ALL THE DISTRACTIONS.

    • @suitableace1028
      @suitableace1028 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      JohnE was not blaming everyone. He merely got distracted on one hole. Were you there? Have you ever seen some of the other Pros when they go off on the gallery? JohnE is a personal friend of mine and I can tell you that there is no one out there who shows a higher level of class and sportsmanship. Lets not bag on him for what was a moment of frustration.
      And this other guy who went after JohnE's faith is just pulling a D*** move in my opinion.

    • @2headstalking
      @2headstalking 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      MY COMMENT, WHILE DIRECTED AT JOHNNY, IN THIS CASE COULD EASILY BE DIRECTED AT ALL THE PROS. I SEE THE SAME SHIT WHEN I WATCH THE PGA. DISTRACTIONS ARE PART OF THE GAME AND AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, PEOPLE ARE ASKED TO BE RESPECTIVE OF THE PLAYERS. HOWEVER, THE PLAYERS NEED TO LEARN TO ZONE IT OUT.
      AS A PERSONAL FRIEND, I GET WHY YOU TOOK THIS PERSONALLY, BUT REALLY IT'S NOT A SLAM OR A BAG, IT'S JUST AN OBSERVATION. WHEN PLAYERS ALLOW THE DISTRACTIONS TO GET INTO THEIR HEAD, THEY LOSE FOCUS. IT CAN EASILY TANK THEIR GAME.

    You guys are doing a great job with the coverage. I have to say I do NOT like this course, as you guys said many times, it seems the trees are deciding. Ya, I get it that the best player will probably win through, but it seems more like luck than skill still. It's not a good site for the World Championships IMHO.

  • @vaugnripen7316
    @vaugnripen7316 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Ricky, please take this as a respectful, constructive critique. Not as someone hating on you. The sport is really starting to grow and it needs as many top tier ambassadors as possible to get to the next level. Paul McBeth is already there. Personality/marketability wise, sir - you are not there yet. Clearly you're a world class player. And yes, you are respectful to the game and fans in the gallery. But beyond that, you are as dry as toast. And therefore not likable. With Paul, he does those Champs v Chumps events plus the different Challenges giving away prizes etc. Which allows people to see his human side, instead of just the McBeast mode. In short, I believe if you find ways to let the public in to get to know you better, Ricky, you will make the sport that much more enjoyable. Keep throwing!

      Justin Greene - I believe you. Problem is, that type of interaction is singular. It doesn't travel to those in other towns, states, countries etc. is all I'm suggesting. There's no real way to feel the true Ricky outside of a personal interaction. I believe he needs to use outlets like TH-cam more to broadcast him having fun outside of a tournament. Let people connect is all I'm suggesting; respectfully.
