Thank you Helen for letting us come along in your journey back in time. It's amazing what ya can find if ya dig a little. It can be amazing or horrific.
I remember when I turned 18 I was thrilled to be able to vote. I couldn’t wait to vote against anything to do with the Viet Nam war. Then me and everyone else I knew did too but it never seemed to matter so I quit. I didn’t vote for years. Then I watched an old movie about what all the women suffragettes went through and I vowed that I’d always vote no matter if I totally agreed with either side or not. So far that’s a promise that I made to myself that I’ve kept. Lord willing I’ll be able to continue that privilege for many elections to come!!!
Much respect to HH for checking her judgements with transparency here.
Helen, your Great -Great grandmother was an important and amazing woman.
I’m so thankful for women around the world who have fought and continue to fight for women’s rights. 🇨🇦
Very inspiring story of Augusta Hunt.

I knew it was Portland before they even mentioned it. I recognize those cobblestones!

THIS is what I tell my female friends who choose not to vote.
Women DIED for your rights.
Honor them by EXERCISING your rights!
That's true and I agree with every word... however I would point out there are a number of real barriers to voting and accessibility is an issue
Horrible time! My grandfather was an alcoholic in the early 1900’s until 1970’s.
They are not “Suffragettes,” the insulting name given by their opponents, they were “Suffragettes!”
