Hi, just want to say thank you so much for the content you're creating! I am gearing up to purchase a '24 Tacoma TRD Off-Road and these videos are getting me waaaay too excited to start adding accessories to it when I get my own. I am also a big fan of your cleaning videos, just ordered the McKillans foam cannon. Planning on starting to order little things here and there as I wait to be able to finance this truck in the coming months. In the future, do you think you can make a how-to video on overloading/camping for beginners? I would love to introduce that to my wife and I but have no clue how to begin doing that. Thank you once again!
Hi Javier, thanks for the comment and watching. I'm glad you are getting some value and getting excited about your upcoming purchase and build out. I do have an overlanding playlist you might want to checkout that might help with some of that info. th-cam.com/play/PLLwvK9J8I1KQXdst8wClfFr7q57Gyg7Z1.html That being said what are some of the key questions you have about getting started with overlanding, I'd love to answer them in one or more videos. We also did a Newbie overlanders podcast for a couple of months this winter/spring and may come back to that at some point that's on the channel too. th-cam.com/play/PLLwvK9J8I1KSKZKBdpop8XFOI1J-4hZ5-.html&si=6Om_HJ8onRtbqRpu But please keep up the comments and questions it's super helpful as a creator! Thank you again!
Thank you for the detailed review! I have a 12" RCI Bed Rack on my 1st gen and plan on transferring it over to the 4th gen when the time comes. I'd look into the rear camera relocation kit by GG Offroad to solve the mid-rack camera issue. Looking forward to seeing your furture transformation.
Thank you for the review. I have narrowed it down to two bed racks that I am looking to buy. The Kuat and the Xtrusion. Just wondering if you considered the Xtrusion before purchasing the Kuat. I just really like the side panel that lifts up to get into the bed.
Thanks for watching and the comment/question. I did look at them, but the fact that you get the full and mid height with Kuat out of the box and and you can add panels in the future were the reason I went that way. Plus I would have had to wait 2-3 months to get a rack from Xtrusion. Also depending on the rack setup you get from extrusion they can be heavy. Even 80 pounds for the base is more than the 75 I I'm running with all of the molle panels and Ibex accessories already install. I do like their weight ratings though. In the end, you need to choose what's best for you! I do think if you get the Ibex you wouldn't be disappointed at all. Either way best of luck and I hope you love what you choose!
I have only had the tent on in full height and it was 17.8 on average. With the rack low and now tent it's been about 20, but I've been at lower elevation during that time.
Hey Ben! Correct me if I am wrong! So if you have a the Full height Ibex you go to mid height just removing the mid parts?? do you need extra accesories or something? I am a bit confuse! thx a lot!
Hi no problem. When you buy an Ibex it comes in full height configuration to go to mid height, you remove 16 screws/bolts and the part between the top and bottom of the rack. And you do the reverse to go back to full height. Nothing extra required at all but about an hour of time. I left the bottom attached to the truck when I switched to full height and that's all the time it took to do it by myself. I hope that helps! If you get one you'll love it!
Everything I put in the back can get wet for my overlanding setup, but Kuat will have their panel kit available soon and that is completely enclosed including on the top. So you can run it however you like! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I'd also recommend starting with the height you want to run and seeing how that works for you. Some accessories, like the bike rack, shovel mounts, and a few others work for both heights as well.
I have not really noticed it at all. There's a lot of weight in the bed too which tends to offset that a bit. Just riding around town I don't notice the tent at all. It was a concern for me originally and one reason I had planned to run in mid height, but it's not been a problem at all so far.

The rear camera clearance was an issue for me and this looks to be the best of all worlds.
Awesome I have a referral link in the description if you're willing to use it. Thanks for watching and I know you'll love the rack too!

Thanks I really appreciate that. Sounds like you have some solid plans for your build as well.

What was the mpg difference with the 2 racks and the tent. How much mpg is sacrificed for the taller rack?

а если дождь пойдет ? разве открытый rack это удобно ?

You would have to purchase 2 different sets of molle panels?
1 for mid
1 for full height?
Yes that is correct, they're different sizes.
I'd also recommend starting with the height you want to run and seeing how that works for you. Some accessories, like the bike rack, shovel mounts, and a few others work for both heights as well.
That’s a lot of weight up high like that, any feedback?

I'm happy with my growth actually, but thanks very much for the offer.
