A very helpful tip when designing a map. If you click the tutorial button you will see each button has a shortcut key. R is very helpful rotating objects for placement on the map.
Thanks for the video Ash! I really hope the community likes the site and hopefully I don't have too many bugs!
Great stuff thank you for writing taht tool :) me bing me joined your Discord to ask for updates XD
I will definitely be using this. Hopefully, the new quests will be added soon. 🙏
Very interesting will check this out for sure
Interesting program, with a lot of possibilities that are worth further exploration as I have time. The one thing that I would love to see, is being able to import/create new creatures or furniture.
In Dobby voice: Snotrag is special! Snotrag has name!
Great stuff I saw this once but could not find it back, glad I have it back now :) I have added a link to the FAQ I wrote as well.
This is cool, I want a quest builder for the Loke Battlemats(I can make their symbols work)
Yes, 💯
Would love the ability to change the layout of the dungeon to support 2x2 tiles like the Dungeons and Lasers ones so I can recreate all the main quests in that system ahead of time and not have to do it on the fly before I run a quest.
Also, the ability to assign how many players a quest is designed for would be cool. You could probably just do that in the quest notes, and add extra monsters for 5 heroes, or add BP etc. looking forward to it.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention Ash.
Cool
Vote for Pedro... I mean AshQuest. 😆
This is awesome. Do we know what this was made with?
Gravendal, if you're reading this and inclined to share....!
I'm old school. The entire side was done in Notepad++ The map editor is just a HTML canvas and I use JavaScript to manipulate it. It has a Microsoft SQL database for the back end.
Thanks for highlighting this, Ash! Any idea of how a "quest pack" prints? Is it laid out so that you can nest the pages and staple down the center? My son wanted to make his "Lava" quest pack look like a "real" quest book, and the formatting was a nightmare on HQestbuilder, I had to manually collate the pages, make copies of the quests and then move the notes around so that they printed in the right spots.
This is something I noticed using HQB as well and unfortunately this currently follows suit. I did suggest it early on, but it seems to be difficult to pull off behind the scenes!
When selecting the hallways or rooms to change from grout to usable space, can you click and drag the mouse? or do you need to individually click the squares like in HQuestbuilder?
Looks like an awesome tool overall, can’t wait to try it out!
I now realize it wasn't clear, but you can click and drag when using this tool, which is super convenient!
@@AshQuest OUTSTANDING!
I was listening in the background. How does this compare to hQuestbuilder and the other one whose name evades me right now? Is it still just a matter of different ones doing different things differently?
Different workflpws for sure, but some differences.
Hquestbuilder focuses on hq, and allows custom icons.
Questbooklet may be branching out to allow booklet creation for other games as well, and has a platform for browsing and rating others quests and campaigns.
That third one that I can't remember the name of either, has a TON of custom icons and maps for all kinds of games, but is a bit less accessible. Just my two cents!
This has a lot of potential. However, I'm a bit disappointed that it's all done with stuff from the original base set (e.g., Fimirs instead of Abominations). Also, I don't love that the exclusive Dragon from the crowd funding campaign is absent. Even still, this is damn cool.
Thanks for the thoughtful input! The creator has been very receptive to feedback, so maybe these changes are realistic!
@@AshQuest That would be amazing! I hope I didn't come off as being harsh, because I genuinely love this tool. I just want to see it reach the heights I know it's capable of reaching.
