INTRODUCTION of session 80:
BIS has circulated draft documents of IS 13920 (Part 1 & Part 2) for the comments. As it is mentioned in forward of the document that IS 13920 will split in to 11 parts. Part 1 will be considered as general provisions for earthquake resistance design and detailing and applicable to all the structures. Part 2 is specifically applicable to building types of structures.
To discuss these important documents, live discussion is organised on 27-JUL-24 at 8:30pm IST. The session will be conducted by Bhavin Shah (Founder & CEO, SQVe Consultants)
Overall aim of session is to increase awareness about IS codes and to encourage engineers for sharing their valuable comments to BIS for improvement in our national standards.
We will discuss important areas of the documents. Few of the same are listed below:
IS 13920 (Part 1):

Low damage in structural elements or Damage in structural elements
Geotechnical aspects
Architectural Elements and Utilities, etc.
IS 13920 (Part 2):
Slenderness ratio of beams at location of plastic hinges
For columns, concrete shall be considered to carry no shear when the member is in tension.
