- This is a showcase and discussion of progressive music..The Prog Rock Vinyl Tag of 2025 was created by Alex at Beet and Vinyl. Please subscribe to Alex’s channel. There are 15 prompts and I responded in a very entertaining, informative way if I have to say so myself..Check it out.
Glen! Thanks so much for doing this and jumping on this. This was absolutely perfect. Love your answers and the variety. Jazz, folk, bluegrass, fusion, all of it! It was great seeing Tony Levin in 3 incarnations over the years... Peter Gabriel, the Stick Men, and BEAT! Love the Miles Deep dive. Great pick with Pentangle (I have no Pentangle!!! EEEEEEK!). A perfect response - thanks again Glen
Awesome..loved doing it..
I enjoyed that, Glen.
Thanks Pat
Hi Glen 👋😎I subscribed to your channel, tks to Morris Gautreau who introduced me to Larry Graves and Larry introduced me to you, and I don't think Larry is aware of this. My name is Robert Cormier and not Rayna Robichaud. Rayna set up a apt on my phone and that is why you see like it is, Morris told me I could fix it that it would show my name instead,I'm a real dummy when it comes to these things, maybe I will ask Morris some day to help me with that. I am probably around the same age as you, I was born in 1955 and I am a bass player also, I believe you are also.😎👍
I agree, I don't think of Pink Floyd as progressive rock. They made spacey rock, like the debut album, Umma Gumma, Atom Heart Mother and so on. And then they made their commercial album DSOTM. By the way, I saw them in 1973, the year they introduced DSOTM.
This video was truly high-quality entertainment, thanks Glen
I must say Glen. You hit it out of the park on this one.
Thanks Charlie..I appreciate that..
Agree with the new Jon Anderson and of course Tales! That Miles Davis Jack Johnson album is amazing.
Nicely done, great responses Glen. Pentangle! Couldn't agree more as I am currently very into stuffs like British Folk/Progressive Folk. My go-to book for inspiration is Rob Young's Electric Eden BTW, Cheers from Montreal
Thanks FVA..have seen the documentary Acoustic Routes..it is available on TH-cam..great doc on the British folk scene of the sixties..I am going to check out that book..
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I did it too! John Renbourn and Bert Jansch, what geniuses, they were! And speaking of the folk genre, the one documentary I really enjoyed was ''Folk Britannia'' , also available on YT, Cheers
@@frenchvinyladdict I just ordered the book from Amazon..
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement You will love it 🙂
I saw Béla Fleck & The Flecktones when they opened for Jazz bassists Stanley Clarke about 20 years ago. They SMOKED!
They were awesome live band..so talented
My favourite Canadian progressive band is/was Harmonium. I know it's sung en francais, but they were amazing.
I was aware of them but never dived in..
Beau Domage is also another great Quebec group. 😎👍
Hey Glen! Just got tix for Jon Anderson on April 25. "Every Little Thing" was in the running for me. Still working on this so it be a couple days before my response. Cheers!
Wow..that going to be a great show..do you want to fly me down and take me to the concert..you still owe me for that audiophile CD player I gave you..
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement As Bob Barker would say, "C'mon' down!" May end up seeing him twice, can't believe he is playing 2 shows at 2 different theaters within 30 minutes of our house.
@@AisForAliceBisForBob wow..you are lucky..He is playing in upstate NY and a friend of mine is going..He asked me if I want to go but I got too much going on..
hi Glen!!! I watched Alex original video and he also showed that Jon Anderson's newer release a very well recieved album with an awful artwork thou....... hahaha the eternal discussion are there any prog bands in the US/Canada?? according to the brits --> No!!! cheers and be well
Have to disagree with you on both Saga and Pink Floyd
Sorry, two awesome progressive rock bands
I love Floyd but just don’t fit in my definition of prog rock..and I know that makes no sense..lol…I just never got into Saga..
For what you have said about Pink Floyd not being progressive rock, I will be forced to square up name your date and time...
Is that good for me???
What is Frog Rock ? Lol
Not sure but it is rivet..ing
