Watching this in the future and I cant believe they used to make the guest eat alone while Josh just sits there with his mouth watering and awkwardly watching them eat. They've really stepped up their game with this series 2 years later, no wonder its turned into what it has.
I remember watching this when it came out and it's kinda surreal to read these comments that saw into the future and could tell it was good. I just wanted to hear more from Rhett in a relaxed style interview that wasn't a podcast. Everyone complains about Hot Ones for also being torturous but it is the same style of relaxed interview at the start at least. Now it's almost redundant to talk about because he had Sean on the show!
Josh is a great personality and also a great communicator. So this transition to a conversational format with real questions and a dollop of jokes plus a weird mythical twist with the last meal concept. Chefs kiss man ‼️
I disagree. I think speaking effectively on camera is one of his weakest points. Too fast. Too eager. Too focused on what he will say next to allow the proper amount of response/acknowledgment of the other persons thoughts in a given exchange.

This is great. The only tiny thing I'd change is having Josh eat the food with the interviewee. It feels a bit strange that they're both not enjoying the food while talking about it. Otherwise it's an amazing show and can't wait to watch more of it.

Yah, the only problem I see with it is there only so much you can ask relating to the food. I think Rhett did a good job of explaining the reasoning behind each of his dishes, but lets be realistic. Most people just choose whatever they like. No big deep backstory that goes to their childhood or something like that. The lightning round could be viable, but you need just one more.... something... for the dishes incase you get a guest that just likes the food with no backstory.
The happiness that Rhett exudes as he eats his favorite foods is infectious. You KNOW food is good when you have that little giggle and smirk after the first bite.
Im usually dont comment on anything , but i feel like rhett has reached this level of self confidence and some level of "zen". hes just comes of so calm and well spoken ... realy pleasent to watch!
imo, he comes across as someone who tries to please the majority’s judgement and is very insecure on the inside, and tries to come across very confident. that’s just me tho! i’m a fan of him and link

We are all different and how boring it would be if we all thought the same!
The mythical beasts did actually. He was given a couple of episodes as a test bed and in order to get the channel permanently it had to achieve a certain number of subscribers. The community basically told Mythical "we want Josh" so there it is.
As someone who is going to die early in life due to organ transplants and other medical issues, I love this. I think talking about dying and death shouldn’t be taboo. This was very well done. I look forward to seeing more episodes :)

Gotta keep going with this. Rhett is so thoughtful, so a great first guest. Terry Crews and any of the celebrities from the ethical dilemma episodes would be great. Rainn Wilson seems like a perfect guest for this show.
Along the same lines, I think it would be fascinating to hear from someone with a terminal illness and how their perspectives of life and death have changed since they now have to confront that reality

Really liked this episode, had a nice mixture of philosophical, more mature, debate, and of course the usual shenanigan's. Nice mix. :-) And the food looked of course absolutely amazing, also the cooking shots where quite delightful.

This was an amazing interview, never thought I'd see someone on the same level of skill as Sean Evans (at least not on TH-cam) but here Josh is. He absolutely killed it. Also always love a show that goes with a more casual and positive look on death

The thought of Link or Rhett speaking at the others funeral really got me. These two who is all the ways that matter being as close if not closer than family? I think I had my own breakdown at that.
I wasn't expecting this how to get so deep, even with an episode with a death theme. It's so much to think about, and Rhett's views on live the universe are really eloquent and beautiful. I also really need that beans recipe!
I agree! I was very happily surprised to hear Rhett ditched the hate-filled religion he was indoctrinated into. I was always afraid that they were secretly bigots like nearly all the people at the churches I grew up in, but their deconstruction videos were a huge relief.
Not that I don’t enjoy Josh, but these are my most enjoyable videos of his, jokes are always good but I like the questions he asked and conversation he brought to the table. Also the seriousness in some parts where you and Rhett really gave meaningful and in depth answers. Great episode.

@@saninpain Nah. I would want to share my last meal with someone I love. I'd want all my last moments to be shared with someone I love. Unless, of course, I was dying horrifically. I wouldn't want that image stuck in the head of someone I love. That's the same reason I won't do open casket funerals. I want the last memory I have of someone I love to be of them alive and happy, not dead, injected with chemicals, and put on display for everyone to gawk at.
I was fully expecting this to be another chaotic-energy type of episode but I'm happy to be wrong! I love how slowed down, profound, and yet still funny this was. It'll be great to see more. Hopefully all the guests will be as casually and comfortably well thought-out as Rhett was.
I love that regardless of who Josh is talking to, he always looks like he’s madly in love with them. I fully expected him to end this with “I love you.”
This is one of my favorite videos on the internet with Rhett in it. It really opens something up about him and it is super interesting to hear someone I’ve watched for years talk about something like this.
I grew up watching this show since 2014 (i was 13 at the time and my best friend had introduced me to it) and I’ve always enjoyed Rhett and links take on things (as much as the silly fun stuff). But i also always thought that them addressing important issues and having real talks was just as interesting as the other stuff to me since they were such smart and earnest people with a lot to say. I started watching the mythical show sometime after my mother had past in 2014 and those daily episodes I watched at breakfast before school are one of the times i look back on very fondly. I just had to reflect on that time because of what Rhett and josh said about Rhett’s legacy and what he put out on the internet. Made me think about what he’s given me. Also if it helps I had forgotten about the chocolate stream thing that is until u brought it up 😂.
Josh has such a natural flow with the questions, clearly similar to Sean but that’s what makes it great. I hope this series really hits the ground running. Just fkn nailed it.
Really enjoy this style of having someone sit in and explain why they chose that food and what that food meant to them growing up! Can't wait to see who you can get in to these interviews!
this is pretty much a nice, mature podcast with genuine talking points and genuine back add forths. it struck a good balance between humor and real conversation. it was nice, and i hope to see this continue.

I literally take medicine because thinking about death gives me horrible panic attacks. I think listening to peoples thoughts on death in this series could be a great form of therapy. Thanks for sharing, Rhett!
I think of death qnd life in terms of a dream. You don't remember when it began, you don't know when it is ending. You never know if your reality is "real". All you have is the experience you're feeling at this moment. Anything before or after is a dream- Inconsequential and powerful. There was a man who suffered a severe concussion, woke up, finished school, met a girl, started a family. Only to wake up, still on the asphalt after the attack. His whole life was a dream. Personally I had a boy who showed me life was worth living. That no matter what cruel irrational things were done to you, there was a way to make the pain worth it. Then I woke up and spent weeks crying, because I would never see him again. It was all just a dream. You don't remember when the dream starts or ends - don't fear either- because another dream or awakening is waiting. And If there is no dream, why worry? You can't remember time spent in nothing. Its just good rest on a night without dreams.

This is such a great MK show concept! It allows for the interesting, potentially funny, conversations like a podcast, with the added layer of thoughtfulness around the idea of food and death linked as communal rites. And I would LOVE to see Caitlin Doughty from Ask a Mortician brought on when they start expanding beyond the Mythical family for guests.

I really love this because it’s so interesting to see how others feel about death, bringing it to light when a lot of people avoid it, by making it humorous and tasty. I really appreciate Rhett's agnostic viewpoint of life and I can really relate to his story. This was a great episode and I would love to see more like this.
I enjoy that he spoke about something so personal and as an agnostic person myself I like his explanation. My response to those who say "keep religion out of it". This is his show on a channel he co created. He can talk about what he wants and this was a profound moment in his life.

It's really neat how they are looking inward to make sure they are consistent with their online lives. It's just super honest.
Really liked this episode, had a nice mixture of philosophical, more mature, debate, and of course the usual shenanigan's. Nice mix. :-) And the food looked of course absolutely amazing, also the cooking shots where quite delightful.
Wow, this was an incredible episode. What I anticipated was a lot of silliness, but what we got was some really thoughtful questions with equally thoughtful responses. I walk away from this episode knowing and respecting Rhett and Josh more. Thank you for this episode! I look forward to more like this.

The thought of Link or Rhett speaking at the others funeral really got me. These two who is all the ways that matter being as close if not closer than family? I think I had my own breakdown at that.
I wasn't expecting this how to get so deep, even with an episode with a death theme. It's so much to think about, and Rhett's views on live the universe are really eloquent and beautiful. I also really need that beans recipe!

I agree! I was very happily surprised to hear Rhett ditched the hate-filled religion he was indoctrinated into. I was always afraid that they were secretly bigots like nearly all the people at the churches I grew up in, but their deconstruction videos were a huge relief.
Not that I don’t enjoy Josh, but these are my most enjoyable videos of his, jokes are always good but I like the questions he asked and conversation he brought to the table. Also the seriousness in some parts where you and Rhett really gave meaningful and in depth answers. Great episode.

One note i would say is that it would be good for josh to eat the meal during the interview too. I think it would make people more comfortable (not that Rhett needs that..). Like Sean Evans eating the wings on hot ones!
The thing is, I actually don't think it would be more comfortable. It's not a challenge it's a last rite, very personal. Definitely a solo endeavor.
@@saninpain Nah. I would want to share my last meal with someone I love. I'd want all my last moments to be shared with someone I love. Unless, of course, I was dying horrifically. I wouldn't want that image stuck in the head of someone I love. That's the same reason I won't do open casket funerals. I want the last memory I have of someone I love to be of them alive and happy, not dead, injected with chemicals, and put on display for everyone to gawk at.
I was fully expecting this to be another chaotic-energy type of episode but I'm happy to be wrong! I love how slowed down, profound, and yet still funny this was. It'll be great to see more. Hopefully all the guests will be as casually and comfortably well thought-out as Rhett was.
I love that regardless of who Josh is talking to, he always looks like he’s madly in love with them. I fully expected him to end this with “I love you.”
This is one of my favorite videos on the internet with Rhett in it. It really opens something up about him and it is super interesting to hear someone I’ve watched for years talk about something like this.

I grew up watching this show since 2014 (i was 13 at the time and my best friend had introduced me to it) and I’ve always enjoyed Rhett and links take on things (as much as the silly fun stuff). But i also always thought that them addressing important issues and having real talks was just as interesting as the other stuff to me since they were such smart and earnest people with a lot to say.
I started watching the mythical show sometime after my mother had past in 2014 and those daily episodes I watched at breakfast before school are one of the times i look back on very fondly. I just had to reflect on that time because of what Rhett and josh said about Rhett’s legacy and what he put out on the internet. Made me think about what he’s given me.
Also if it helps I had forgotten about the chocolate stream thing that is until u brought it up 😂.
Josh has such a natural flow with the questions, clearly similar to Sean but that’s what makes it great. I hope this series really hits the ground running. Just fkn nailed it.
Really enjoy this style of having someone sit in and explain why they chose that food and what that food meant to them growing up! Can't wait to see who you can get in to these interviews!
I hope this becomes series. Rhett was the perfect person to go first.

this is pretty much a nice, mature podcast with genuine talking points and genuine back add forths. it struck a good balance between humor and real conversation. it was nice, and i hope to see this continue.
I actually like this episode a ton, I really hope this is done with Link also because it's interesting to hear these conversations with Josh. The food also looks epic!
This series has great potential, I love how it still had the typical humor and sarcasm but it also got deep at times which was a nice contrast.

I've gotta say, this is maybe the best content that I've ever seen from the Mythical crew. It is so sincere and thought provoking. It's also an incredible opportunity to see just how insightful both Rhett and Josh are.
I literally take medicine because thinking about death gives me horrible panic attacks. I think listening to peoples thoughts on death in this series could be a great form of therapy. Thanks for sharing, Rhett!

I think of death qnd life in terms of a dream. You don't remember when it began, you don't know when it is ending. You never know if your reality is "real". All you have is the experience you're feeling at this moment. Anything before or after is a dream- Inconsequential and powerful.
There was a man who suffered a severe concussion, woke up, finished school, met a girl, started a family. Only to wake up, still on the asphalt after the attack. His whole life was a dream.
Personally I had a boy who showed me life was worth living. That no matter what cruel irrational things were done to you, there was a way to make the pain worth it. Then I woke up and spent weeks crying, because I would never see him again.
It was all just a dream. You don't remember when the dream starts or ends - don't fear either- because another dream or awakening is waiting. And If there is no dream, why worry?
You can't remember time spent in nothing. Its just good rest on a night without dreams.

It allows for the interesting, potentially funny, conversations like a podcast, with the added layer of thoughtfulness around the idea of food and death linked as communal rites. And I would LOVE to see Caitlin Doughty from Ask a Mortician brought on when they start expanding beyond the Mythical family for guests.

This combines some of my favorite things: Mythical Kitchen and Death Discussion Podcasts. I really love this because it’s so interesting to see how others feel about death, bringing it to light when a lot of people avoid it, by making it humorous and tasty. From a future mortician, wonderful work, y’all!

I enjoy that he spoke about something so personal and as an agnostic person myself I like his explanation. My response to those who say "keep religion out of it". This is his show on a channel he co created. He can talk about what he wants and this was a profound moment in his life.
